Relative skill levels of leagues
Playing around with international/independent leagues, I'm not sure I have the settings right. I created one US league, filled with feeders creating only US players. I created a second league in the Solomon Islands fed by feeders creating only SI players.
The draft pools don't look appreciably different when it comes to max potential numbers, and so forth. This seems off to me, so I'm wondering what I should have done differently. Ideally very, very few people coming up in the SI leagues would ever have the ratings to play at the ML level in the US league. Are the qualities of the players created defined more by league level or country of origin or something else? Does this just not work how I might expect? |

In fact, rereading the manual I see that it explicitly states that US created players are not better than players created in other nations. I'm guessing league reputation will have to do with whether players are willing to go to teams in that league, but that's not clear in the manual.
So I'm thinking maybe there's not a way to make this happen? What do other users of independent leagues do to keep their skill levels in the realm that you'd like to see them? |

There are modifiers.

When you create a league I believe that country's reputation becomes excellent, so I don't think that is the issue.
League reputation should set some standard as to what type of player will play for the leagues you create, though money still plays a role so you need to make sure SI players are paid significantly less or prevent that league from accepting free agents from outside leagues. As RchW stated you likely need to change player creation modifiers in the league setup, preferably prior to the games start. For example, if the US league player creation modifiers are all set to 1.0 (which is standard), and you wish the SI players to be roughly half as talented, then the SI league's player creation modifiers should be set to .5 to achieve the effect you're looking for. If you don't wish to recreate these leagues and you haven't begun play you can release all the players and delete them as free agents, then set the modifiers as you wish and fill team rosters. I would then also re-set team financials. This can all be done within the league setup page, except for deleting free agents for which you will need to go the screen for free agents. Hope that helps. |
