Why don't scouting graphs match scouting reports?
I started playing OOTP 20 recently, and noticed that the scouting graphs on the individual player scouting pages don't usually match exactly the ratings given in the scouting reports.
I first noticed this in a live start game. I figured maybe it was an issue with that mode, so I tried starting a new standard game beginning on opening day 2019 as the Indians GM & manager, and saw the same issue. Here's one example, Cleveland's Adam Cimber, using the 20/80 scale. As you can see, in the Scouting History section, his current Stuff rating was 55 in the two most recent reports, while his current & potential Movement rating increased from 45 to 50. However, the Overall Ratings graph shows Stuff = 65 and Movement unchanged at 50. You'll notice there are also mismatches in the Potential Ratings graph. I've included another example, Leonys Martin. Team scouting reports list both his current and potential Contact & Power ratings as 45. The lines for these in the scouting graphs can't be seen, which I believe means they're overlapped with the Eye rating of 50. Again this is incorrect. Is this a bug? Is there some game setting that's causing these discrepancies that I could change? |

Check to make sure you have "use last scouted overall" checked on the Global Settings page. Not sure if that's the fix you need but its the only setting I could think of that might help.

I verified that I have the "use last scouted overall" option selected. So am I the only person who sees this? Is this some weird AMD vs Intel issue? This PC is ancient, 9 yrs old.

My guess is that it's an absolute vs relative ratings thing. I believe the graphs may be showing absolute ratings while the report history does relative ratings.

Mystery solved. I went to the Game Settings menu, and unchecked the box next to "All player ratings are displayed relative to:" (which had been set to MLB). I returned to the player pages, and found that the ratings in the Scouting Reports section were higher now, and matched the ratings shown in the graphs. I wish there was an option to have the graphs use the same criteria as the reports, but it doesn't bother me as much now that I understand what's happening. |
