Historic League with annual draft of real players.
I'm looking for a league where every season the GMs draft the greatest real players of all time (such as Babe Ruth) and then use the OOTP to find out how the league would play out. I don't see any leagues such as this. Do they exist? What am I doing wrong?
Are there leagues where a Co-GM mentors you for a season so you can learn the basics? Can I use the OOTP to create my own league with my friends and do this? (If not, can I do it with your hockey product? I'm serious about hockey history also.) Will it work easily? Do you have to know web design and create your own website as the leagues here have their own sites or does the software do this for you? If so, is there an extra fee and how much is it? You can create a custom league and import historical players into it. You can then hold a draft for the players. Once you complete a season you will need to decide how to handle that. I would learn about importing players and creating custom leagues or historical leagues and try a few solo league runs to get your feet wet. It will also help work out kinks and you can experiment with ideas.

Thank you very much. I may buy the hockey product, because I have GMs lined up, but I really appreciate your advice.

I get the desire to start your own league and set it up exactly how you and your friends want. But running a successful league requires experience, patience and most of all allot of commitment. I highly suggest you first get involved in an online league or 2 that follow a similar set-up to what you want. Learn the ins-n-outs, discover all the challenges and witness first-hand all the work required by the Commish. It's not as simple as paying for a site and recruiting GMs. Leagues that start like this don't often last very long.
