Division Setup

Forget about historical vs modern day, do you prefer to play the game with the two league (regular season) winners going to the World Series, the 4 division setup, or modern day? I lean toward 4 division, but curious what others do/think.

I don't even do divisions. I have all the teams in the same league and the top X number of teams go into the playoffs.

I prefer to play with four divisions, two in each league, and only the division winners go to the playoffs. It's why I almost always start historical leagues between 1969 and 1977, and I usually end up starting over at some point for whatever reason.

Depends on the number of teams. Here's how my setup progresses (I normally add teams 4 at a time).

12 Teams: 6 6
16 Teams: 8 8
20 Teams: 5-5 5-5
24 Teams: 6-6 6-6
28 Teams: 7-7 7-7
32 Teams: 8-8 8-8
36 Teams: 6-6-6 6-6-6 (one wildcard per league)

I let the leagues expand to 4 div 6 teams then stop historical expansion. Then I had 4 teams two times and end up 8 teams in 4 divisions. I use real players.

Also equal opponents in division and out of division and no interleague.

I'm trying a 24 team, 4 division league in two conferences, where the top 2 in each division cross match with the other division in their conference. I think that makes sense

So if Divisions are A-D, playoffs will be A1vB2, B1v A2, then the same for C & D on the other side.

I have 2 leagues, 4 divisions. 4 division winners are in with a first round bye. the next 4 teams in each league, regardless of division, get into the playoffs. RD 1 is best of 3. RD 2 is best of 5. RD 3 is Best of 7. RD 4 is best of 7.
