And the backstory for the league:

The Continental Baseball League was formed in 2018 after billionaire Mark Cuban decided to seek retribution for being denied the opportunity to buy an MLB franchise. After purchasing the rights to 20 clubs, most of which were defunct, he decided to start the league with something never done before, an inaugural fantasy draft. As well as the rights to each team, Cuban’s deal included the history of the clubs, which will be taken into account for CBL awards.

Cuban’s dream is to not only rival, but surpass MLB in revenue, fan support, and quality of play; only time will tell if his goal will be achieved. One thing is for sure, he has secured a talent pool that will rival MLB, whether it develops or not remains to be seen.
