Stats determine rating changes?

Do ratings ever change based on prior years stats? For example, if I have 50 (20/80) rated power stat hitter who cranks 60 HRs one year, will his power rating improve the following year?

Or is everything determined based on Age, coaching, and TCR?

Also using the same example above, if he is 35 and does the same performance is it guaranteed the rating will drop next year due to age?

I'd like to see some real life examples like Curtis Granderson who had 19, 23, 22 HRs with the Tigers but then exploded for 41 and 43 HRs with the yankees. Based on that if Granderson had 60 (20/80) power by 2011 when he hit 41, it would be cool to see power increase to 70 or so for the next year when he will hit 43. I know this works for historical sims using real life stats but im talking for modern games of 2018 and beyond.

The problem with using Granderson as an example is the "little league" HR to RF situation in Yankee Stadium.

Bump. Anyone know if season performance can boost or decline player ratings?

Stats are tied to ratings. Ratings are NOT related to stats.

This is why I believe a ratings heavy AI evaluation is much more beneficial.

Interesting because in prior posts you liked 50/30/15/5 rather than default 65/20/10/5. Wouldn't default be better?

Yea...I did use 50/30/15/5 at one time, but I think putting a little more weight on ratings helps the AI.

No, it doesn't. In older versions of OOTP it did, but that hasn't been the case for a long time now.

sooo if a minor leaguer with sub par ratings has good solid numbers over a few years I shouldn't expect them to improve? If so is there any real indication as to what players might get a ratings bump from sub par to better players?

Just an example. Have a minor leaguer who has a potential 5 eye on 2-8 scale, has has back to back minor league seasons with OBP over .400 due to high walks. I shouldn't hope that his eye goes up?

No, not because of his performance specifically. He might get a random boost but it would be random if it happened.

That being said, his performance might stay at that level anyway going forward. Some guys definitely can establish a pattern of outperforming their ratings (or vice-versa).
