Why does my forwards keep improving at Right/Left Defense when i don't have them training defensively at all?

in fact unless i have set a new position, why do players keep improving at different positions?

Are they playing defense in games?

I'll get post game updates that a player has improved at the position he was playing that game... so a C might be filling in on LW, or a LW on RW. I had a D who was filling in as a wing improve at wing, so it wouldn't surprise me that a F being used on D would improve on D.

No they are not, i get those reports to if i decide to switch positions, this is completely unrelated. i get these in the monthly development report.

I've lately been getting a natural 20-skill LD playing LD getting +1 to his LD in the last couple of development reports, so something might be a bit off somewhere.

We've been trying to track down the forward randomly getting +1's to defensive spots for a while, no luck completely eliminating it yet - although it's a lot less frequent now than during beta testing, where guys like Jean Beliveau were turning into defencemen. If somebody has a save where it's happened recently, that'd be useful for us to have.

These were saves from the same league where I had an issue with one center getting +D every single development report, but was started on an earlier version of the game, they may be worth simming to the next dev cycle to see if it's still happening in one or both (these are the same saves I sent you on the tech support section previously for other issues)

Out of curiosity, are d-men getting better at faceoffs a bit of a 'skill sink' that's intended? It's nto like it's impossible for them to get better at that, it just (feels like it) happens often enough that it makes me sad each time that something of use wasn't developed haha

Thanks, those should be useful.

Re: the defencemen, yeah, that's it. If I remember correctly, it does throw out the improvement part of the time (the same happens for forwards and blocked shots, the balancing F/D attribute in the defensive group), but it's allowed to improve occasionally.
