But he can run really fast when he is on base, and he has cool hair sometimes.

Beltran is definately over rated. He's making $400,000 for each RBI so far this season. That is rediculous and Pedro is the best pitcher ever. He is 7 and 1 right now on a .500 team, and that is rediculously great. Pedro has one of the best knuckleballs I've ever seen and hitters can't seem to touch it.

Cameron is definately the best CF on the NYM right now. Look, he has finally reached his potential. We saw glimpses of this potential in that one game where he hit 4 HRs! I'm pretty sure sooner or later he'll be able to do that consistently. Dougie has to be the worst 1B in the league. He's hit .197 in the last 10 games. What is that? I mean sure he has a nice glove but .197? That is totally pathetic.

I'll be glad if the Mets stay above .400 this year. I'll be surprised if Beltran gets 70 RBIs.

..... But I am the biggest Mets fan so it's not like I hate them, I'm just really dissapointed.
The Mets will be above 500 this year...but since when does Martinez throw a super knuckleball?
Cameron is the best fielder on the team...
Piazza is killin them this year...(but catchers are always overated because so few of them can hit)
Doug isn't hitting but thats not a prob, he wasn't expected to.

He's on pace for about 5 fewer homeruns then his average season and he's currently hitting for his career average at .284. He's also had NUMEROUS seasons with same K:BB ratio that he has displayed so far this season.

I think all the BS New York hype has misled Mets fans who thought they were getting some 40-40 guy that was going to hit .300 and walk 100 times.

What they really got was a very solid all-around player, but I personally don't think he's a superstar. Not even close to a Tori Hunter or Andruw Jones IMO. Also for all the 5-tool talk, he couldn't hold Vlad's jock strap in just about every possible skill.
finally, a voice of reason...

Me too, but some of what he said is actually right on, like Beltran being overrated. What a confusing post

Uhh... his EQA's have been .312, .306, and .308 over the last 3 years, respectively.

This year, he's at .271, his worst offensive year (so far) since 2000. His numbers are way down.

First and foremost Joe Morgan is the living example of clutch. I bow to you, sir.

Second, Beltran does have the bad quad, which has hampered him. It's quite possible that he should have been DLed before the season ever started but he has refused. I don't think Carlos Beltran will ever be amongst the very best players in the game but I think when all is said and done we'll look back on his contract when it is over and he will have been worth it.

The two most overrated players in the game are Bret Boone and Jim Edmonds. Have been for years.

But Beltran is hella overrated.

The most accurate statement yet, regarding Mr. Beltran.

Only defensively. He's a monster at the plate.

If anything I'd say he's underrated overall, as he isn't viewed by most as the HoFer that he should be.

Well not really, he hasn't been paid all 12 mil yet. If he ENDED the season with 30, then it would be 400K per.

Yeah, Beltran's certainly overrated. I think the Mets needed to get him when they did, and he definitely improved the team, but I wish they could have gotten him for less.

For some reason, this explanation of the five tools left me in tears...

1 - average

3 - defense
4 - baserunning
5 - the rest of the tools...

Hey Joe, most people break up defense into glove and arm.

By the way, these Morgan posts are too good. Especially if you read them in a Joe Morgan voice. I'm beginning to think it's not an alias, and that the Joe Morgan is a fan of OOTP. Perhaps even a beta tester who lobbied to get clutch added to the game...
