HUMONGOUS News coming out of this sim. Storm has now claimed the last playoff spot while the Juves are on top of their game, winning over 100 games. Also the former last place Felons has tied up wiht the struggling Blazers. It will be interesting finish between the two as both try not to finish last with 4 games left to play in the season. The news is that Juves' second best player other than the great matt, leaggue second RBI man, pete kahle has injured himself while running the bases and is OUT FOR CAREER!!!. He had a great season this year with 30 homeruns and just under 100 ( 99 ) RBI's. The league will definitely miss him.

With the GFBL Finals shaped up, the Juves will have home field adventage following a 2-2-1 format with the team that wins 3 games being the league champion for the 2003 season. Sims will take place every 2 days when the playoff starts, each day simming 1 game at a time. Game one will be next Wednesday.

Without pete kahle, the Juves will be in desperate trouble facing off against the Storm. There are currently a few freeagent avaliable, maybe someone will get signed? We will find out soon enough...bigewillis must feel real lucky right now.

The season ended with the Storm and the Juves on top, therefore they will be playing a best of 5 "world Serie" if you will. The winner willl be declared the champions of the GFBL 2003 season.

However before we get to that, there are some hardwares to be given out to the outstanding players this season.

Wednesday 9/24/2003: Red hot ey215 wins Pitcher of the Year
e ey215 will never forget this year. His dominating season convinced the GFBL to name Juveniles' right-hander the Pitcher of the Year winner of 2003. This season ey215 compiled an ERA of 2.19, going 20-9 in 38 starts. He fanned 318 while giving up 203 hits in 308.1 innings. He has 20 complete games and 5 shutouts. He's 1st in the GFBL in ERA and 1st in wins!

Wednesday 9/24/2003: matt221334 (JUV) wins Batter of the Year
The GFBL Batter of the Year goes to m matt221334 this year. He had an extraordinary season! This year matt221334 drove in 121 and scored 103 runs while batting .310 with 33 bombs. He's 2nd in the GFBL in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI!

Wednesday 9/24/2003: matt221334 (JUV) wins Rookie of the Year
Juveniles' m matt221334 was almost in tears when he heard the news. The 19 year old catcher was named the Rookie of the Year winner in the GFBL today. What a way to begin a career! matt221334 has walked 61 times this year and posts a .378 OBP. While batting .310, 164 for 529, he has driven in 121 runs. He's 2nd in the GFBL in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI!

Congrats to all award winners and also everyone else for a great inagural season.

Now comes to the Finals Match up preview.

VS.

The Juveniles has a very strong offensive lineup. However due to the recent loss of pete kahle, there is now a huge hole in the batting order. Someone will have to play out of position which is going to be the first time for the Juves this season. Still, watch for matt to be a huge factor in the finals as the MVP tops the league in both homeruns and RBI's. Also keep an eye on dbacks, the lead off man stole 71 times successfully this season and there's no reason for him to stop in the post season. The pitching rotation of the Juves will be the key of this serie. 4 out of 5 starters have over 15 wins under their belts, including Pitcher of the Year Winner, ey215, 20-9 with a 2.19 ERA. This rotation will for sure present itself as a big adversity to the Storm lineups.

The Storm has a strong lineup in its own right. No one is really as spectacular as matt. But there are several guys on the team who can still pose a problem for the Juves if they are underestimated. Guys like TheCrowLoves, Wavehound8, metskid, clett and Cuss all grabbed over 70 RBI's each in the regular season. This lineup will take any chance given and capitalize.
The pitching rotation on the other hand is rather weak compare to the Juves. Only 1 pitcher, Apollo has a over .500 record. A team ERA of 3.98, which is not bad but almost 100 points higher than the fan-favorite Juveniles.

After looking over all aspects of the two teams, I'll have ot say that the Juves have the edge with both the pitcher and batter of the year on the same team, the Juves will most likely dominate the post season. I predict he Juves ove the Storm, 4-1. Game 1 will be on Tuesday.

Paul

Also can't forget Juves' top notch saver, trident, 40 Sv and a 3.42 ERA. However the Storm has a even better saver in adventureran, 39 Sv with a 1.13 ERA.

Not to mention the darn sim is broken. I mean, the Jailblazers should be in the playoffs, not the dinky little Storm.

Thumbs up GFBL Finals 2003 - Game 1...

What a game!! I watched it as ey215 pitched an outstanding game and crashed the Storm 4-0. ey215 pitched a complete game with 14 k's and only allowed 2 hits!! clett and myself are the only players on the Storm lineup to register a hit. Storm's ace Apollo pitched very well also. In 7 innings pitched, Apollo only allowed 4 hits and 1 run with 6 k's. It was a very boring game offensive-wise with only 8 hits combined for both teams. However the pitching duel early on was very entertaining with most of the batters striking out on both sides. Look for Game 2 to be close once again. The interesting thing is that in the pre-game match up, the storm and the Juvves are actually tied...

ps. boxscore is on the site under the Finals section.
