Does OOTP XX require a live internet connection?

The game runs fine and tells me that it is fully activated on my laptop when I have a wi-fi connection, but when I have no internet access it refuses to run and tells me that it is not activated. Does OOTP XX require a live internet connection to run?

Please tell me that this is not the case.

Looks like it’s not just me, looks like they broke OOTP for laptop users who travel.

Even Steam lets you play offline if you own the game.

I have the same problem with my laptop. I can open the program but it doesn't load to the starting screen if I don't have an internet connection.

Just so everyone knows, Markus replied to that other thread saying that this is a bug and they're looking into it.

In the other thread Markus said this was unintentional and Lukas committed to having it fixed in the next patch.
