Will the football game resemble OOTP as far as player progression goes?
In iOOTP, the progression system in perfect. There are a good amount of busts and gems. Also, the star ratings and potential really don't even matter most of the time. I had a guy in my minor league system as a 1 star for 8 years. Then I brought him up and he gradually got better. Guy became a 5 star over the next 15 seasons and won the CY Young at ages 37 and 41 and was a HOF. I hope that BTS works the same way.

Football progression is obviously much different than baseball, with a player's prime years coming earlier in their career and not lasting nearly as long. I have faith that they can work a masterful progression system over time.

Something that is interesting and challenging for BTS is the possibility that college players might already be on the down side of development by the time they become regulars in the NFL. Another issue is that player aging by position must be radically different and influenced by physical trauma and age. I don't envy the complex programming and data analysis that is needed for that.

What Rizzo and RchW said. I haven't asked Francis about this, but I'm sure he's aware how player progression works in the NFL vs. MLB, especially since the NFL HoF has players with careers less than 10 years -- I doubt there are any like that in the MLB HoF, or if there are, they're very rare.

As people have said above: BTS won't have the same player progression as OOTP because Football is so different to Baseball.
BTS will, however, have progression which is realistic to Football. Thanks, Francis |

Player progression/regression model should be different, since in football, injuries and organizational schemes play a huge role in a player's chances to succeed.

Actually football player development is varied based on position. For example with most athletic positions you get earlier peaks. For example RB peaks well before 30. With QBs they may not peak until their 30s and it can be erratic. It really depends on the position.

I'm expecting a very high level of Talent Change Randomness, and for it to be different from position to position (OL are generally more consistent than RBs, DBs).

Right. I know it won't be the exact same as baseball. I'm just talking about the same randomness. Can guys just decline all of the sudden at a young age and then rebound. Like have an offseason. Will late round picks ever turn into stars and high round picks be absolute busts. Will it be realistic was my point? Unlike the junk on console games where first round picks are the only players that ever amount to anything. And late round guys just get cut.
Not really some randomness, but just the idea of players coming out of nowhere to be great or to be really bad along with sure things like Andrew luck. |

Same randomness is an oxymoron. But yes there will be some predictability within the randomness as is the norm.
