We might have a big problem. My external hard drive - which had not only the building league file on it, but also the entire Negro League database itself - has crashed. I *think* I'll be able to rescue the data, but this could be a huge problem as it would take awhile for me to rebuild the database, should it be non-recoverable.

If that is the case, I would probably suggest we switch over to the 1891 integrated league idea, as that one requires less of the Negro League database and I can recreate it as we go.

Another miraculous recovery, by the way, would you be interested in buying a slightly used banjo?

OK, the segregated league is officially on indefinite hold. My drive crash is apparently non-recoverable. Instead I will build an 1891 integrated league (which was option "d" in the original post).

If any of you are interested in doing this, please let me know.

I will be rebuilding my Negro League database though, and the 1920 league will happen, perhaps when the new version of OOTP comes out.

I'm interested, of course. I assume we'll need to resubmit team choices, since they won't be exactly the same?

I'm sorry for your data loss, this always sucks. I expect there were lot of other files lost as well.
However, as someone who actually prefered option D, I'm still interested, of course.

I too am interested as well! I would like a Detroit or NY team if they come open. Otherwise the team I was awarded is ok.

legend,

I have the original UBL 1920 league file that has all the negro players in it.

It would cut work down if you still want to do the 1920 league.

I thought UBL started with 1927. Maybe I'm mis-remembering. If it is 1920 that would definitely help put things back on track. It would still be faster to crank up in 1891 though (as there weren't as many players then).

You are correct sir, it was 1927. My mistake.

I'll await the 1920 league. Please email me when it comes to be and I'll be ready to take the St Louis combo once again.

What I'm leaning towards right now is 24 teams, with the basic idea being that the Players League did not buy into Al Spalding's famous bluff in the fall of 1890 and instead pushed on, with the result being that the NL had to fold. The Players League does away with the reserve clause, allows the previous excluded players of color to play, and goes with two 12 team conferences, geographically aligned.

What this means for teams is that we'll have fictional teams, in real cities, the markets being the 24 biggest (no two-team cities) in the 1890 census. It'll either be East-West, or North-South conferences, no interconference play. With NL, AA, PL and Negro leaguers, there will be plenty of players and I will add players from the International League, which was the top minor league at the time, if needed.

I'm guessing you mean the 1920s league, as the Yankees didn't exist in 1891 (and we'll be using fictional teams in that league anyway).
