See, this all sounds simple, but it would take many hours for something that only 0.01% of users would ever care for, with the potential to break existing code which could require a hotfix. It just does not make any sense for us to give this any sort of priority. And there are countless examples of such tweaks / improvements. Our job is to prioritze them and make sure we make the best decisions for the majority of customers. Eventually we'll get to these small things, but it will take time...

I would like to see some..odd things..sorta different stats...an ability to see what the average age of teams are..a place to view rookie records..a better way to see how many gold gloves a guy has earned in his career..or mvp's..etc

i have noticed some new storylines for players which i like..but would like to see more..more events..more stories..more..variety

Some one once told me coding is like trying to smooth out a gigantic bed sheet. Every wrinkle you smooth out creates two more.

Yup, especially in OOTP, as it is one of the most complex games on the market, period.

That would be fantastic! It would show just how much work you put into the backend engine and help people identify if their specific annoyance was addressed or not.

I suggest you follow the same model as Paradox does for their games. Their games are also incredibly complex and their user base really appreciates the detailed patch notes. Here are their notes for the recently released hotfix 1.6.1 for HOI 4 as an example.

Quote:
Code:
################################################################
######## Patch 1.6.1 "Ironclad" ########
################################################################

##################################
# Feature and Important
##################################
- New task force composition editor interface with much nicer flow
- Added a reserve button to Fleet bottom bar.
- Unlocking new ship hulls will now provide a variant with the same modules as on the best equipment variant of the previous ship hull level, to the extent possible, and hide the empty hull as obsolete in that case.
- ctrl b now toggles strategic deployment for selected units
- key k now toggles air training (kamikaze is moved to ctrl b)
- FM won't be able to activate abilities if it is already active for all child groups
- Taskforces with automatic split on will split into multiple taskforces if there is no naval base that can repair all ships at once
- Sinking enemy ships will now award war participation

##################################

- fixed an issue where Manchukuo could demand Japan become their puppet while still being a subject of Japan.
- Cave to the Germans, Maintain Trade Neutrality, and Cave to the British focuses can no longer be bypassed while one of the other mutually exclusive paths are in progress (thereby unlocking multiple political paths).
- The United Kingdom can now progress to the end of the Decolonisation tree, even if India has already declared independence.
- MacArthur will no longer lead the Loyalists while also fighting as a field marshal for the Constitutionalists.
- Canada will no longer be subject to continued British communist pressure after Britain accepts the USA's demand to stand down.
- Anti-German Speech decision now correctly checks whether any German civil war faction is fascist, and does not show duplicate decisions in case Germany is in a civil war.
- fixed an issue with Reichskommissariats Ostland and Ukraine behaving weirdly
- 'Expose the Belly of the Bear' will no longer cancel if some of the criteria is true.
- The focus 'Expand the MLD' will now automatically bypass if the Netherlands or its subject does not control Java.
- Australia can now invite King Edward VIII to Australia if they decide to stand by the King in the event of him pushing his marriage forwards. The focus can now also be bypassed if Australia becomes fully independent and is not in the Allies.

- Fixed a single port being naval strikes multiple times within the same tick creating confusion
- all units of an army will be assigned to newly created garrison orders now

- You can now move a repairing taskforce from a naval base to another without canceling repairing.
- Fixed attache not working when the recipient has less than 100PP and 50CP
- German Integrate War Economies focus now sends events rather than applying effects immediately, giving players a chance to decline to avoid being puppeted.
- Decolonize Asia game rule now releases Korea, Manchukuo, and Mengkukuo, and transfers other continental states to China.
- Heavy cruisers are now considered as capital ships in the production line.
- the nation building decisions now correctly add a national spirit to execute their effect

- ENG Decolonizing while having finished Three Nation Solution will grant RAJ the improved Muslim Community Marginalized trait. Also, TFV trees will now take into account the possibility of having been decolonized by Britain, and, if they are still in a faction with ENG, allow them to take focuses that would otherwise require them to still be a subject.
- Ensured that it is no longer possible to 'game the system' by, as a Dominion, promising loyalty to the king in the event for the Abdication Crisis, only to subsequently go down the independence path in a TfV focus tree. Promising loyalty now locks you into the pro-Britain path of the tree.

We do this too each year with patch notes. Another thing to keep in mind, they probably have a single guy hired who only does bug tracking & logging, we cannot afford this obviously (yet).

Bump the price up 10 bucks. I don’t mind, but some will never be happy. These guys don’t have the budget of say EA or 2K or Soccer Manager

Keep up the good work team

Yeah, I can tell you that the player development update report often has completely wrong numbers for the player ratings in it.

LOL I don't think I'd want Markus to learn too much from Paradox. I bought Stellaris three years ago for $40 and have easily paid as much again to by content it probably should have had from the get-go over the last three years.

OOTP Stellaris edition: 03/22 OOTP 20 Comes out. 04/01 MLB Logos & Uniform packs go on sale. 05/01 DLC to add 3D stadiums and baseball cards go on sale. 06/01 update roster pack goes on sale.

I'm joking of course. But to tell the truth with OOTP we got a complete game on release day. You know, that isn't as common as you'd think these days!

For the way that I play the game, the changes were minimal. There are a couple things that are my pet peeves with the game that haven't been fixed in years. The first is expansion. I would like a better experience with this. Let me set up my minor league teams. If I can't, at least don't put two of my teams in the same league like it does for the rookie leagues and the low A leagues. While setting up my minor league teams is an easy fix by editing everything, I would like for it to be done for me so I can get right into the game and play.

The second is with Personnel. I would like all Personnel to be linked to their player's profile so it would avoid creating duplicates every year. I hate seeing two Don Mattingly's, Mike Matheny's, etc. Again, I can edit this by deleting them, but shouldn't my time be spent playing the game as opposed to editing out these types of issues? Also, update the Personnel's histories. For example, Eric Wedge and Ozzie Guillen have no records in their history.

These are rather small and are no way a game breaker for me. They are just annoying and time consuming to edit them out when all I want to do is play the game. So, my slight disappointment for this game is that these issues haven't been addressed in years. However, I still love the game and will continue to purchase it. I know the team works hard on making a great experience year after year. I would just like a little more attention to these small issues, if possible.
Long time player/lurker, rare poster here as well. I would thank this post twice if I could, especially the expansion game part. It makes no sense for an expansion team to have two teams in the New York-Penn League, and none in the rookie leagues, but that’s what we end up with. A minor annoyance perhaps; yet as previous poster said this aspect of the game hasn’t been touched in years. Like he said, let us set up our own minor league franchises, with a default option available depending on league level (for stadium setup, etc).

I preordered the game a month or so ago but haven’t downloaded yet so I’m going strictly off what I’m reading here. But as one of those “core” game players who likewise has no interest in Perfect Game, this thread does not sound very promising for this year’s version.

Sorry, but I'd rather see the development team spend their time coding ... or drink a cool beer instead.

I bet no more than 1% of the users will read the entire notes

What percentage of users play spring training games and how many of them would want the games to be played in Arizona or Florida ( the proper neutral site)?

If it's so few that play spring training then( I don't play it) why bother with spring training?

I sim Spring Training to test out rookies as well as some veterans. Its also realistic for injuries to occur during this time, another reason I use it. I don't play the games out though.

I'll bet that the PT revenue gives more revenue to develop OOTP than if they did not have it. Probably much, much, much more. There are many people who spend thousands of dollars on PT.

You don’t get a new release/version of Stellaris (which is awesome - & was on intial release) every year. Apples/Oranges. Paradox funds future development via DLC, OOTP releases a yearly version. In effect it’s the same thing... you can have people bitching about DLC, or not enough features in a new game... either way the only way to get new stuff is if the company gets new revenue.

Unless something changed in vXX all ST games are played in the same stadium. They only did that so we weren't playing out ST games in cold weather that can effect injuries. I doubt it was massive coding to do, just one stadium for all to use.

I'll bet there are those that would want every ST park just as there are those asking for split squad games. I'm betting neither one is added for the same reason, IE time to code to how much use. I play my ST games and I think, while cool, this wouldn't be a good use of coding time.

ST is huge in OOTP for development and seeing what your young players can do. My guess is most sim it and then there are guys like me that play them all out just like my regular season games.

If teams can have a separate playoff roster from regular season roster so I wouldn't see a problem for a split squad roster(team A;team B). But combine the rosters unless there is a known split squad game for that day or if you want too make it real simple just schedule doubleheaders(schedule editor) and switch rosters around instead of split squad.

My question has always been what is the benefit? What do I get that I don't already get in an OOTP ST? In the current setup, that I think, schedules 26 or 28 games I have no trouble getting playing time for everyone. Rust is gone and I've been able to look at prospects and invites to my hearts content.

Sure one can say, so it will be more realistic and they are right. So then back to is it worth the time to code compared to something else? I'll let Markus decide and if he puts it in I'd probably enjoy it

Spring training games are already automatically played in the default (neutral) minor league park with nice weather (most of the time). That was a useful and simple change because weather influences injury risk.
