Questions regarding historical sandbox

So, I am beginning my first historical sandbox. I chose to play as the 1999-2000 San Jose Sharks. Jonathan Cheechoo has 4 star potential, but currently has 0.5 stars to start the season. I want to develop Cheech, but there is no farm team to send him to. How do you develop prospects in Historical Sandbox? I want to try and give the younger guys ice time, but there is no space for them on my pro-roster. All I can is send them to reserve, where they seemingly don't get any minor league ice time.

Long question made short: How do you develop prospects in Historical Sandbox? Is there any way to send them to a minor league affiliate?

Thanks guys!

Players will develop on the reserve, even without playing time. It's unfortunate that they don't actually play in the game, but they will still grow as players even if they are on the reserve if I recall correctly from FHM 2.

Yes, that's correct. Reserve list acts exactly as a farm team would.
