Baseball Trivia Thread
A fun little way to pass the time. Whoever answers correctly asks the next question.
1. In 2009, Aaron Heilman became the most recent player to relieve a pitcher who was credited with ________. |

My Question:
Who is the only pitcher who was credited with one game appearance in his career, but never actually faced a batter? |

What player started his career with a HR in 3 consecutive opening days? |

Yeah got me stumped too.
Kaz Matsui did hit HR 3 years in a row but only the first 2 were opening day. The 3rd was game 14 for the Mets and his 1st of the season. Jason Heyward did it on opening day his first 2 seasons. Edit Adam Dunn homered on opening day 2005-6-7 but his career started in 2001.

It was Kaz Matsui but it was 3 consecutive 1st plate appearances 2004-5-6, not opening day This is why I love answering questions not submitting them, I always get one fact incorrect I'll submit one that I looked up first Who holds the most consecutive fielding chances at 2B without an error? |

I know Placido Polanco set the record 5 or 6 years ago and I haven't heard of anyone breaking it, so that's my guess.

Here's my question and maybe too easy:
Who was the first pitcher to blow an official save opportunity? |

No one? I read the question wrong. My answer was based on my understanding that blown saves were not an official stat. Sludge

Cecil Upshaw, followed by Frank Linzy later in the same game.
Under the modern definition of the save rule, excluding any wording changes to the three-innings requirement, who led their league with the fewest saves? |

An interesting thing is that Upshaw led the NL in Save% in 1969, even though he blew the very first one.
