"The Supreme Bumper Degree"
Characters from
"The Supreme Bumper Degree" from Inside the Ropes by Charles E. Van Loan Small Maynard and Company Boston, 1913 -has illustrations- setting around 1900 Story involves a HW known as "The Great Finisher" who can't find opponents and is working as a sideshow act. The Finisher's last name isn't given so I improvised based on his occupation as a truckdriver. His tomato can opponent proved to be impervious to a blow from a mallet delivered from the other side of a curtain, but is an otherwise ineffectual fighter. Mike "The Great Finisher" Driver HW 4 slugger Alexander "Sandy" Wallace HW 1 slugger |

"Garrity's Champion"
Characters from
"Garrity's Champion" from "The Sparring Partner" from Inside the Ropes by Charles E. Van Loan Small Maynard and Company Boston, 1913 -has illustrations- setting circa 1902 Ponderous young beerwagon driver August Lembach is turned into fighter "Sledgehammer Garrity". He runs off a streak of KO wins to make a name and is promised a title shot if he can beat comer, Dan Churchill. The HW champ is only referred to as the big fellow, so I did not create a fighter for him. Given the story I assumed that the historical champ in the time-line would be James J. Jeffries although John L. Sullivan would also be a possibility that would change the birth years and career start dates I gave to these fighters. August Lembach aka "Sledgehammer Garrity" "Owgust Limback" HW 4 slugger Dan Churchill HW 6 either and opponent Gravy Gavigan HW 1 boxer Bear |
