My other FTP team, in I-223 is in a down to the wire battle for the division. I have an easier schedule down the line and a 22 game winner (so far) in my rotation...fingers crossed...

So, my two teams are set up and ready to compete in an Our League, who can get me in on competing against some old school teams?
anicolausk, Central Bobcats, and treydmarq2, Troy Trojans, are ready to hop in and compete for the retro title. |

There Is Joy in Mudville!
The third and final race in Our League 2020, I188, was not decided until the penultimate day of the schedule, and offered redemption for Bottom_Of_The_Sixth(BOTS), the Our League founder, and, now, leader of the newly crowned champion Mudville Muffins. Mudville took 2-of-3 from Stephensville to set up the the Ballpark of Asheboro as the stage on which the Road Dogs-Horrors would play out the final drama of this year. Arkham, who ended the campaign in the Our League cellar, played the spoiler with aplomb, taking the first two games, and earned a measure of reward for their lost season. The Bull Dogs went down with their heads held high, giving their fans a victory in the final game, ending just .012 from the prize.
BOTS, whose kernel of a idea in PT 19 spawned Our League, has had a somewhat checkered past in his creation, not winning a title across five seasons in PT 19. His team, the Gas House Gorillas was relegated out twice, and suffered through a 6-20 season. The newly minted champion Muffins, however, are playing a different tune, a redemption song. With Our League already gaining a Friends List three times larger than in PT 2.0, the future looks bright. Best of Today's Sim (BOTS) Although the game began fraught with tension, with the Road Dogs hoping to extend the Our League season to its final day, the suspense was short lived. With Shawn Green leading a 14-hit Arkham barrage, the Horrors dumped Asheboro, 8-1, ending the Road Dogs hopes. Jimmy Key turned in a stellar 8-inning effort, allowing just one run on four hits. Asheboro Fan Club President, Bull Dog Bettisbus, though disappointed, had nothing but praise for the Road Dogs, saying, "They gave us a lot to cheer about this season, and it's not over yet. We still have the I188 playoffs coming, and a win there would be a very nice consolation prize. We'll take our bite out of the Real League next year." Actually, it's a Duo
Quote:
We call ourselves Marie 'n Me, and there's just two of us. I play guitar ad harmonica, Marie the bass. We do a lot of early Beatles songs, when the harmonies were a focus, and some Everly Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, '60's, etc. We like to do different takes on songs sometimes. For example, we do "Sunshine of Your Love" with an acoustic guitar and bass, with harmonica for the lead break. It's different, but fun for us. We both have kids who play together, and they have friends who play, so if there's a shindig coming, we plug in, set up the drums, and Marie switches to keyboard and we rock on. The kids have a wonderful music vocabulary that stretches back to the '50's. They've even taught me new stuff by bands I've never heard. However, my musical taste is like my baseball preference - old school. We don't play out much anymore, just the odd open mic. There used to be be quite a few coffee houses, but they've mostly gone away, and we're not really loud enough, or inclined to play in bars. There has been a real growth in small wine orchards hereabouts in recent years, so we start playing out again. We still practice twice a week. By the Way
A note to Our Leaguers in I188. It seems Our League did well in getting playoff teams across the various leagues. The Asylum Keepers are now fully compliant and got a Wild Card spot, so if you meet them you will be getting a 2021 preview. It's a bit embarrassing because I ignored them all year, just using the last couple of days to get them ready for Our League. That said, they did do much better after I dumped the Live players. I don't keep any Live or Future Legends on my teams at all, since I'm not up for the collecting and tournaments. I just like to have three distinct rosters of about 35-40 players, except for the oft-mentioned Willie Mays, the greatest ever, exception. I have him on two of my teams, although the '73 will only play against lefties, but he will play until I get another of his cards. Say hey, the only replacement for Mays is Willie himself.

Our League Teams in Playoffs
I go up early this morning so I could tweak my teams for next week, but find myself with small budgets, hence the posting frenzy. The following Our League teams have made the PT playoffs, of the 11 I can follow. Both leagues could have Our League teams in the World Series.
I188: Battery Point Stephensville Waffletown Asheboro Asylum (future team, but now compliant) B250: Ewa Beach (The renamed Campbell team?) Seattle |

Last Post Today, I Promise
I've snipped a few team logos form I188 to illustrate what I mean by unique logos. Besides being really wonderfully done, they make it much easier for me to pick out on the schedule than the game generated generics, one of which is also below for comparison. There was another team with the exact same logo, with just a slightly different color, so I found myself frequently thinking I missed something. As I said, I would be happy to help with that, but in looking at these offerings, you might want to ask them.
