Salary cap below floor problem
The expansion is great and now completed. Problem is there were not enough high salaries to get to the salary cap floor and hence can not start the season. How do you fix this ?

If you can't change the salary floor at the time, release one of your players through commissioner mode, save the release in the editor, then use the editor to sign him for alot more money to get you to the floor. At least you're below the floor, so you can explain it to your owner

Yeah, Malte and I noticed this when testing the at-start expansion, and came to the conclusion that it was best to leave it up to the owner to choose how to get to the cap floor. The actual real-life penalties for being under the floor are surprisingly vague: the best guess seems to be that it's a fine in the $1-5m range and the loss of a first rounder, but there's no guidance at all in the CBA about the mechanics of that - does paying the fine and losing the pick absolve you of the need to stay above the floor afterwards? If not, when do you have to fix the situation? And is there another penalty if you don't?
So, we left it as it is, which is basically "sign free agents until you've got a payroll high enough, or you can't continue." But it'd probably be a good idea to give you a little more warning about the problem, like a message right after the draft that you need to spend some money on free agents. I'll see about adding one. |

At that point it's almost too late. Right now it just says Payroll Budget and Spare. It would be quite useful if easily done for there to be more information in that area such as cap floor / limit and remaining dollars to spend to reach the floor with the indicator of the amount you are over or under.

The likelihood of the talent from an expansion draft getting you to the Salary Floor is very small. You need to pursue Free Agents from day one. Erik Cole, Scottie Upshall and Andrej Meszaros are available at the start of the game.
