OOTP just lets the chips fall where they may. Bottom line is if the color line had not existed player records would have been very different. Mr. Ruth would have faced a better class of pitchers as a whole. The point of my database is "What if.....".

Oh yeah, in my personal game I usually have 24 to 32 teams in my league and adding the extra bad pitchers gets Mr. Ruth back to 600-700 HR's.

I simply expected Ruth to hit close to 700 ... and expected that guys like Josh Gibson would also be in that neighborhood.

What I didn't consider is the fact that if you add enormous talent from the Negro Leagues into a 16-team league it drastically raises the amount of very good big league players.

So now it will be interesting to see how the league develops once we're past the color barrier

In my ABF league Ruth has close to 1100 HR and Gibson had 620. Ruth didn't even turn into a hitter full time until age 31.

Spritze, I'm also noticing that players that debuted in 2014 are importing with no stats, and I've noticed that Jacob deGrom and Jose Abreu specifically have no stats in the pitching2.csv and batting2.csv files respectively. Perhaps this is what's causing the imports with no stats, which of course causes imports with no ratings. Thanks for this database nonetheless. Cheers.

For RD league with Negro league, *** etc do I select the ODB? While i had some Negro leaguers in my 1st attempt all *** players seemed to be after ML debut. 2nfd attempt i had no known Negro Leaguers and all *** guys were after ML debut.
I took the RD ODB that you posted and copied that over the HS stats file you posted recently. Was that the right way to go?

Nope. The latest HS db has the random in it already. Just use it as is.

You are using the second to latest db. The latest one has this fixed. I oops'ed the previous one and had to give it an oopsdectomy.

Just downloaded the latest one (from post #572) and deGrom and Abreu still don't have stats in pitching2 and batting2 respectively, while guys like Jose Bautista and Chase Utley still don't have 2014 stats in batting2, along with Cole Hamels and Felix Hernandez in pitching2, with all due respect Sir Spritze. I'm guessing this holds true for the entire database, and I could check more if you like, but I think you get the gist. You are still da man.

Thanks much Spritze. The good news is that yes the current players who debuted prior to 2014 have been updated with their 2014 stats in the neutered stats (or batting2, pitching2, fielding2 if you will) files in the download from the OOTP wiki. Yay!

The bad news is that the 2014 debut guys are still without neutered stats from what I can see. That would be guys like deGrom, Abreu and the lesser lights from the 2014 debut class.

As I have said before, your db is awesome and mind bogglingly comprehensive. I hope you take my comments as me trying to help you make it awesomer, and not me being a whiny little b*tch. This is the most up to date version? for historical 1901 & beyond i can still use real stats and 1 yr recalc right with your DB? Gonna start a History of the White Sox soon.

I've crawled all over the stats2 files, and this database is extremely impressive/comprehensive. The following 2014 debut players are still missing neutered stats though:

Erisbel Arruebarrena (SS LAD) (arrueer01)
Rusney Castillo (CF BOS) (castiru01)
Bryan Price (P CLE) (pricebr01), not Bryan Price the CIN manager (pricebr99)
Chad Smith (P DET) (smithch08)

Like I said though, this is a work of art, and you sir are a genius.

Sorry for noobing up the thread, but I DLed the updated dropbox file linked a few posts above. I made a backup of my default stats folder and saved it on my external hard drive & then copied Spritze's zipped up stats files over to replace the stats folder used normally by OOTP

Is that all I need to do to use this database in a new historical game?
