Player refuses to be demoted
Working the Orioles, start the season with Paulino as the catcher with Teagarden on the DL. Teagarden comes off the DL, Paulino still has options, however, he refuses to be demoted.
Options? I do not want to carry three catchers, would like to find a way to keep a veteran like Paulino available for the future. |

Bought some time, sent Teagarden to a rehab assignment in the minors.

I am a Yankee fan, but looking for a bit more of a challenge. So, picked a team that I am somewhat familiar with. Seen them a few times this year already in my travels to Baltimore.

In my experience with this situation, I was trying to either (a) unload an aging, war-weary Kirk Gibson and his massive salary - no takers, or (b) demote him - he refused to go.
Couldn't release him without adding about a million in expense costs so, pretty-well spent two-thirds of the season waiving and designating him. Funnily enough, unloaded him on the Tigers after the World Series. Watched him the following year figuring if he would rejuvenate himself and put me to shame, but he ended up banging around at .222 and little else on limited playing time. |

Your real challenge is going to be when Wada comes back and who to demote. I put Wada in bullpen and he bitched and moaned so I sent the struggling Hunter down and Wada is doing well as a starter. I am trying to unload Markakis and his unreasonably high salary. Gregg too. I can't seem to unload either one of these guys. Markakis just isn't producing and he was dropped to 7th in the lineup. He's barely hitting .200 and has 2 HR's in late May. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2 |
