How do I transfer a saved game to another computer?

I have tried and tried to save an ootp game file, and email it to myself so I can play the same game on my laptop.

(I have Macs)

You haven't described the problem enough. What exactly are you doing and what exactly is going wrong. BTW, considering the size of a saved game, emailing might not be the best way to go.

E-mailing is not likely to work unless it is a very small league. Typical league sizes are 300MB and up depending on user options for saving box scores, logs etc.

Best bet is to use a USB drive, a DVD or CD in that order. You may also want to zip the league file using 7zip first then copy over. With all the html and text files, copying to an external device can take a long time. The zip file makes a convenient back up should something happen to the league file. I usually name them using the game date for reference.

This is an excellent point. It's not the size of any of the files, it's the number of files - thousands of news, messages, player picture and player history files after a few years in any league. Copying those to any external device takes a tremendous amount of time. That's why Rich is right in recommending zipping the league folder and copying that to the external device. It still takes a good amount of time to zip, but no where near as much as just copying them over. When you're done, you only have one (large) file to transfer.

How exactly do you zip all of the files?

Whenever I have tried this, and then I try to open it up on the other computer, it says the world.dat file can not be located, and then, won't open.

Download 7zip here, then zip your league folder into one file. If world.dat is in your league folder it will be in the zip file.

Once it is on the other computer, you need to extract the zip file to the saved_games folder in the destination computer.

I compressed it down to 160,000,000 bytes. Now just plug in an external usb drive, transfer, and then open on my other computer?

Right, to be clear, you must extract it to the right folder before opening it in the game.
