OOTP5FREE free agent bug

In the free version of OOTP5, I keep having players request to be re-signed at specific terms, and then not only decline those terms but refuse to accept ANY offer, even at 4x and 5x the $ amount of their request.

With this being a free version of a game almost 3 years old I don't think that a patch will be issued. Just increase the offer slightly.

Not that I'm asking for a patch or anything, but I do seem to see what this guy is talking about. I don't remember players turning down offers as often as they did when OOTP5 first came out.

Player A:
Asked for 4,500,000 for 3 years.
Offered 5,000,000 for 4 years...rejected.
Offered 6,500,000 for 5 years....rejected.
Offered 7,500,000 for 3 years...rejected.
Offered 10,000,000 for 3 years...rejected and refused to sign.

Free Agency (same player):
Asked for 4,000,000 for 3 years.
Offered 4,500,000 for 4 years...accepted first day.

Again, not asking for a patch. Just found it weird that it seemed to have changed.

The problem was fixed with the 5.14b patch...but now the problem is the free version doesnt work with that patch...any chance to make this happen ?

Yeah, but like everything else OOTP 6 costs money. Some people would like to be able to play the free versions. Allowing the free version of OOTP5 to work with the 5.14b patch would make a lot of people happy. OOTP isn't that expensive compared to a lot of baseball games, so just save up your money and get it :-d

I too am troubled by this bug in the free version of OOTP5.

I purchased the game originally on a PC that became old and needed to be replaced. When I bought a new computer, the free version was available, so I just downloaded that.

Unfortunately, the game is now worse than it was before because of this bug. Say, for instance, you tank it one season and get a top-five draft pick. You come out with speedy, brilliant-power shortstop who has a Normal loyalty. Six years later, when he's a full-blown superstar, he asks for something between $10 million and $13 million for 4 or 5 years.

Because of this bug, this player will re-sign for no less than $20 million for basically any amount of years. This results in having to edit the player's contract to keep him, which takes all the fun out of it.

I know the game is three years old. But, if a previous version worked fine, can't someone just make that version available? Maybe, in addition to or instead of the free version? There already are a bunch of game-related files on the download page.

Thanks for reading my rant. It'd be phenomenal if something could be done.

Bumping asking for love and a 5.14b patch for the free version of v5!

I have given a ton to OOTP and the OOTP community and am personally responsible for many many people buying that game. So give me a little tiny love and give me a 5.14b patch for the free version....pretty pretty please.

I have a friend who was on the fence about OOTP, as he is a college student and funds are probably somewhat limited. So, I pointed him to the OOTP5 free download as a try-it-before-you-buy-it.

Now, he's experiencing this bug, and OOTPD is losing a potential customer because of it.

Why can't the 5.14b patch simply be made available? If I were in his shoes, I'd probably skip buying OOTP6 or even OOTP7.
