1920 - George Sisler and the St. Louis Browns

I'm currently replaying the 1920 season as the Yankees. For the first time in my OOTP career, I'm actually playing out every game instead of simming.

It's July 15th, and I've been in 1st most of the season. The Browns have been my primary competition all year, and I'm amazed at how good these guys were. In reality, they finished 4th, but you wouldn't know it in my replay. Sisler is amazing. I've gotten to the point where I'm thinking about walking him every time he bats. Then, you have to deal with Ken Williams hitting behind him, and he's killing me too.

Of course, Baby Doll Jacobson is a monster batting 5th.

I'm wondering if Cleveland and the Black Sox will eventually overtake us. For now, though, it's a battle between the Yankees and the Browns. From a head-to-head standpoint, the Browns are killing the Yankees. Against the rest of the league, Ruth and the Yankees are in 1st place. Oh, and Ruth is not too bad either.

You forgot to mention the Browns' star pitcher, Urban Shocker. Not only was he dominant that season, but he had one of the best names during that era.

You're right. How could I forget him? I always get him mixed up with Bob Shawkey since they both play for the Yankees at certain times.

Strangely enough, Shocker isn't doing that great in my current season.

13-8 4.28 .300 OAVG. 1.55 WHIP

Good record but his other numbers are a little below avg. He'll probably do great though in the last two months and make his numbers look better.

Please continue to share your results. 1920 will be the starting point of my first OOTP project. I plan on playing out all of the games instead of simming as well.

Ken Williams was the first 30/30 man in 1922. And came very close that season to simultaneously being the first 40/40 man.

And in 1927, he had the most AL HRs by non-Yankees, if I remember (ruth 60, Gehrig 47, Lazzeri 18, and Williams 15)

I also believe Sisler had a couple of SB crowns too.

I'm also in 1920. I'm about 2 weeks into June and Ruth is hitting .487 with 25 home runs. Sisler is hitting .407. I'm using real transactions and somehow I have my Cubs in first place a game ahead of the Giants(Giants won it all in 1919). Dave Robertson is on fire for me. He already has 10 home runs on the season, which is the grand total of what he actually hit that year.
