* All I did was update the personal info. This fighter was expertly rated by SAL. I didn't touch the ratings. In fact, I've never heard of him until I ran across his name on a forum yesterday.

Sultan Imbragimov

* Update *

I wasn't too impressed with him. He is a counter puncher, not very aggressive against boxers. Austin would throw a lazy right hand and not double it up or throw anything behind it and it kept Sultan at bay for most of the fight. Wlad would kill him. Sultan does have very good handspeed and good power but no explosion. Mike Tyson or David Tua would take out Austin early.

Since the fight was a draw, I hope neither gets a shot at Wlad. Give Brock the shot.

Rating: 5

Sultan is not aggressive at all. I'm not impressed with either fighter. Ray Austin should have not be able to dictate the fight with a lazy jab and right hand. Wlad would take Sultan or Austin apart within four rounds. Sadly, the IBF title shot should go to Brock. He showed more than these two.

He looked alot better against Whitaker and Mr. Friday....I think the weight gain hindered him some. Fighters that come right at him he will fair fine against. He does have some movement.

Coming in eleven pounds over the weight you fought at last probably will not benefit you, even if it is to be thicker against the larger HW's.

He would never get close enough to Wlad to hit him ... If Austin didn't bend down half way every time he threw a punch Sultan would have never hit him ... Neither of these guys deserve any kind of shot.

I think Brock is an overrated joke so it's sad that I think he would blow out either of these two.

I saw some things I like. He is only a counter puncher and Austin's workrate is very slow. Against a busier fighter, Sultan would look better. I don't think he will handle smooth boxers well. Chris Byrd, V. Klitch, and Liahovich will eat him alive. He can punch.

Scheduled to fight Taras Bidenko on 8/22. I will issue another if he wins. I issued a Bidenko (4) several months back.

Yeah,Sultan was not impressive at all. In the past I would have jumped on Mikes thoughts about Brock and argued until dawn,but after Calvins last couple of performances(he was saved by the haymaker against Lawrence),I have started to really doubt whether he has what it takes to beat the top 4-5 guys. I was a big Brock fan a couple of years ago..but he seems to have hit his peak and be stuck in a rut. I think his management team failed to take advantage of his impressive win against McCLine on the ESPN ppv a couple of years ago..since then he has really done nothing but tread water. I havent totally lost hope,but he needs to show me something very soon. Even though he is considered a prospect,he isnt exactly a spring chicken. He needs a big fight...soon. By the way,good ratings Ice,I had Sultan a 5 and Bidenko a 4 as well..our ratings are very,very close with those two. I think one of the Roths may end up being the best to come out of the Universum stable over in Germany. Dieter and Egon both look pretty decent at times...however,both are small. In case any of you dont know...WWW.boxing.de is a site where you can watch a lot of the Universum and Spotlight fighters...they have old cards that you can stream from the site.

I had Sultan a bit higher but downgraded him on what I thought was a bad night. I'm interested in seeing him again against someone with a heartbeat. I'm sure they will put him in with a stiff for his next bout just to get his mojo back. That said, his coming in 11 pounds too heavy and the fact that he appeard rather passive can't be changed with training. So I doubt that he will ever progress.

Bidenko I like. I've heard alot of good things about him. He went 12 rounds with the Giant early in his career.

Good stuff Ice. I find that our ratings are very close most of the time..when I have a fighter that I havent seen a lot of...I will usually grab him from you. Keep up the good work. Have you ever seen either of the Roths? They pronounce the name something that sounds like...wrote. They both seem to be pretty decent boxers..but both are small.

I haven't even heard about them. I'm curious now and will research. I thinkk handlers of Kevin Johnson and Eddie Chambers are missing the boat. They need to get those guys on HBO or Showtime. American boxing fans are waiting to jump on a red, white, and blue heavyweight bandwagon.

Yeah,Chambers is a very good boxer,super quick for a heavyweight. I like Kevin Johnson as well,but the last fight that I watched of Kevins..he threw almost nothing but jabs...guess if it works lol. I think most fighters do not use their jab enough..dont have to worry about that with Kevin..lol. As for the Roths..they are not future champions in my opinion,but they are frequently on the universum and spotlight online cards. They usually show a card every couple of months. I cant understand why Chambers hasnt been put in their with a top ten guy yet...remember watching him a year or two ago..and thinking.."this guy is ready". He just seems to be treading water. I think that there are quite a few young heavyweights with some potential..just a matter of getting the right breaks and having the right trainers. Have you seen Travis Walker? He is a powerful puncher..but is very raw at this time. He loads up with every punch,and has some serious stamina and defensive flaws at this point. However,with his power and aggression he could make some noise a couple of years down the road. BJ Flores is another who has some nice skills. He started fighting at cruiser a couple of fights ago. He is someone to watch out for.
