Easy way to convert world_default.xml to a CSV?
I need lat/long for all cities in the database, and I think the easiest way to do this is to convert the database file that already exists.
Unfortunately, most converters can't handle XML files this large, so I'm not sure how to proceed. |

Unfortunately, because of the unusual way world_default.xml is coded, those won't help me.

Sorry. Are you trying to put the exact lat/long data in, or just fill in those fields? Sounds like quite a job if you're going for exact data.

If all you want is data from the xml file. And you do not plan on importing it back into OOTP, then you could just import the xml into a spreadsheet. I did something similar to verify cities I added were going to be in the world_default.xml.

importing a pre-made list reduces work to a few clicks and keyboard strokes.
back to original question... like damoore said, you should be able to start that import wizard the moment you try to open an xml file in your preferred spreadsheet program - change delimiter to tab or 'special chars' if possible and use xml tags in list. if that doesn't work there's almost certainly a program that can convert the files between the two formats out there. https://www.google.com/search?client...csv+conversion looks like a bunch of options to look over / try. |
