Franchise Prestige Rating
It would add a wrinkle of realism if OOTP featured a "prestige" rating for franchises. Let's face it: even when they stink, there are certain clubs that are always going to be top attention-getters in the media and top destinations for the best free agents. Sometimes it's because those teams have money, but a lot of times it's also because - regardless of a team's record NOW - they're traditionally had a history of winning.
e.g. The Yankees went more than a decade in the '60/'70s (and again in the '80s/'90s) without making the postseason, but they were still able to make some big signings. Would that have been possible if they'd had the same history as the Mets?
Within OOTP, I could see the franchise prestige rating take into account (a) how many titles a franchise has won & (b) how many former players have made the Hall of Fame. This would be a stable indicator of the team's overall desirability to free agents, and could interact with the "greed" ratings of individual players.
