1973 All Star Break: .238/.315/.470 24 HR 61 RBI
Although having a solid season, Dave is not All Star material this year. Maybe in 1976
His metrics have improved year-over-year this season, and he is on pace for another 30+ HR/100 RBI. He is still struggling in the field (11 errors at 1B so far). He also has contributed 14 steals so far. He leads the Giants in HR, RBI and is tied in Runs (55) with Bonds and Mathews Jr. He is also still in 2nd place in NL HR behind the Cubs Billy Williams again this year. But check out Dick Allen...he is having a Ruthian season so far: Triple Crown perhaps? Last edited by tdneu99; 08-23-2018 at 08:38 PM. |

It seemed that New York third baseman Wayne Garrett could do no wrong as the Mets KO'd the Giants, 8-5 today. Garrett rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Giants hurlers were throwing.

If Kingman ends up with 99 RBI this year, I am going to be pissed. I hate it when that happens, even in a computer simulation.

End of 1973 - .238/.333/.454 37 HR 96 RBI
Dave improved on all three basic average metrics over his virtual 1972 season, although it resulted in a bit less production than last year.
Note the very respectable walks (84) and stolen bases (23). His L/R splits were weird:
You'd expect the much higher SLG against lefties, but it coming paired with lower BA and OBP is odd. Huge slump in July & August (roughly .200/.300./350) kept his overall production way down. He only had 9 homers and 26 RBI in that span. The rest of the months he was closer to .250/.350/.550. Here are his IRL stats for 1973. They were bizarre: He hit lots of homers, and little else. But compared with the sim, his virtual season outperformed by +13 HR and +41 RBI. Last edited by tdneu99; 08-23-2018 at 08:40 PM. |
