Today the Giants had Bryan Hickerson (0-0, 5.14), on the hill. The Braves had Johnny Cash (0-2, 5.00). Not that one. None of us have ever faced Cash. I got the first crack at him and I responded by flying out to Milt Thompson in centre. The Braves struck in the 1st when Thompson scored on an Andres Galarraga sac fly. Braves lead 1-0 Brad Komminsk took Bryan deep to lead off the bottom of the 2nd. Braves lead 2-0 I led off the 3rd by dropping one into left for a single. Stolen base #16. I advanced to 3rd on a Mike Aldrete fly. Then Chili Davis tied it up by putting one in the left-centre bleachers. Game tied 2-2 I led off the 5th by lining out to Gerald Perry in left. The rest of the inning went better when Mike scored on a Steve Stanicek sac fly, Chile scored on a Rob Deer double, and Rob scored on a Bob Brenly single! Giants lead 5-2 I made my first defensive play that inning, grabbing a Perry grounder for the 2nd out. Galarraga followed that with a solo homer. Giants lead 5-3 I came up with two out in the 6th, now facing Brian Fisher. I flew out to Perry again. The Braves scored in the 6th when Ken Griffey Jr. scored on a Jeff Blauser double. (Right after Griffey's first career hit.) I handled a Komminsk grounder for the 1st out. Giants lead 5-4 In the 8th Deer scored on a Brenly double. I grounded out to end the inning. Giants lead 6-4 Dennis Eckersley came in to pitch in the 8th. We got more in the 9th. First Mike scored on a Chili double. Then Chili scored on a passed ball and Steve crossed on a Chris Brown ground out. Giants lead 9-4 In the bottom of the 9th Ron Gant hit a pinch hit homer off of Eck. Eck allowed a couple more hits but no more runs and we had the game. I went 1 for 5 with a single, a stolen base, and a run scored. Bryan got his first win. We are back tied with the Reds for the division lead. After being up for one game, and not seeing any action, Willie Fraser is back in Phoenix. Terry Mulholland is back up.

We are finishing up in Atlanta and facing Joe Johnson (0-2, 12.06). The Giants have Bruce Ruffin (4-0, 1.99) pitching. Seems like a big advantage to us, but also seems like every time I saw that, uh-oh. I have gone 4 for 15 against Johnson. I opened the game by grounding out to Jeff Blauser at 2nd. I made the first out in the other half, grabbing a Milt Thompson grounder. I got the last out in the 2nd off a Brad Komminsk grounder. I came up with one out in the 3rd and flew out to Thompson in centre. Mike Aldrete followed me with a solo homer. Giants lead 1-0 They evened it up in the bottom half when Bruce Benedict scored on a Gerald Perry sac fly. Game tied 1-1 We pulled back ahead in the 4th when Chris Brown scored on an Alan Cockrell single. The Bob Brenly scored on the same by Bobby Grich. I came up with men on and two out, but I couldn't get it done. Giants lead 3-1 In the bottom I started a sweet Priske - Grich - Aldrete double play to get Ken Griffey Jr. and Blauser out. Chris led off the 6th with a solo shot. I grounded out to end the inning. Giants lead 4-1 In the 7th Mike scored on an Atlanta rarer and then Chris and Bob crossed on an Alan double. Giants lead 7-1 I got the first out in the bottom half off a Gary Sheffield pop. The Braves got one back when Griffey scored on a Blauser single. Giants lead 7-2 I came up in the 8th with Bruce on 2nd and none out. Ed Vande Berg was pitching. I grounded out to Blauser, but at least I advanced the runner. Bruce scored on a single by Mike. Giants lead 8-2 Almost like last inning, I got the first out off a pop-up. This time it was Ron Cey. Nestor made some changes in the 9th. He brought Mark Clear in to pitch and Brian Giles and Tom O'Malley to play the corners. Mark walked the first guy but struck out the next three and we had the win. Bad day for me but the team is now 14-6. The Reds were dormant so we have the lead again. Tomorrow we are in Chicago.

The Giants are in Chicago to take on Greg Maddux (0-4, 6.39) and the Cubs. We are going with Doyle Alexander (2-1, 2.77). I have gone 2 for 12 against Maddux, though I did homer against him. Though we have some oddities in the lineup today. Mike Aldrete is nursing a virus but is playing anyway. More importantly, Doyle has a sore ankle and it pitching. Hmmm. We'll see. I kicked off the game by taking Maddux to right field for a single. I advanced to 2nd on a bunt by Mike. Stolen base #17 put me on 3rd. An infield hit by Chili Davis sent me across the plate! Chili later scored on a Rob Deer single. Giants lead 2-0 It didn't take long for the Cubs to get on the board as Marvell Wynne led off with a homer. Giants lead 2-1 I came up in the 2nd with one out and Bobby Grich on 1st. I struck out. I made my first defensive play in the 3rd when I took a Billy Hatcher grounder to get Wynne at 2nd. I came up in the 4th with two out and Chris Brown on 2nd. I struck out again. Our lead evaporated that inning when Bo Diaz led off with a homer. Game tied 2-2 We got it right back in the 5th, in a big way. Chili doubled and scored on a Bob Brenly double. With Bob and Rob on base, Chris smashed a huge three run homer. Giants lead 6-2 I came up with one out in the 6th, with Mike Schmid now pitching. (Yes, Schmid.) I put one over Mel Hall's head in left (heh), and legged it out for a triple! That is my second of the season. I scored on a sac fly by Mike. Giants lead 7-2 Things started off badly in the bottom of the 7th as the Cubs loaded them up with no out. Dave Owens scored on a sac fly by Diaz. But then we got a nice Priske - Grich - Aldrete double play to get Paul O'Neill and Hall to get out of it. Giants lead 7-3 I came up with one out in the 8th, with Joe Housey pitching. I singled through the right side. Stolen base #18. I went to 3rd on a ground out by Mike. I got no further. Hatcher hit a two run blast in the 8th, which chased Doyle for Dennis Eckersley. Giants lead 7-5 In the 9th Hall singled by another Priske - Grich - Aldrete double play got him and Juan Beniquez. (Did I come down a little hard on Hall as he came into 2nd? I'll never tell.) Another single and a strikeout later and we had the victory. Big day for me! 3 for 5 with a triple, 2 singles, a run scored, and 2 stolen bases! We are 15-6!

We are facing the Cubs and Mike Maddux (3-0, 2.95). Clearly he is the better Maddux. The Giants are pitching Eric Show (1-2, 5.19). I have gone 1 for 6 vs this Maddux. Once again Mike Aldrete has a virus and Eric is working on short rest. It worked for us yesterday. I opened the game by grounding out to Mike Brumley at short. Eric struggled right out of the gate. A walk. A single. A hit by pitch. A two run double by Paul O'Neill. A run scoring wild pitch. RBI single by Tom Foley. RBI single by Dave Valle. The cubs hit around. Cubs lead 5-0 We got not he board in the 2nd when Alan Cockrell scored Chris Brown on a single. I came up with two out and Alan on 2nd. I struck out. Cubs lead 5-1 O'Neill got another RBI double in the bottom half. That was it for Eric. 1.2 innings pitched. Mark Clear came in to try to stop the bleeding. Cubs lead 6-1 I made my first defensive play in the 3rd of a Brumley grounder for the 1st out. O'Neill hit it to me for a fielder's choice in the 4th. Marvell Wynne scored on a single by Mel Hall. I took a Foley grounder to end it. Cubs lead 7-1 I led off the 5th by flying out to Wynne in right. Mike LAdrete followed me with a solo home run. Cubs lead 7-2 Mark looks exhausted out there. What is Nestor doing? We backed him up with a Grich - Priske - Aldrete double play to get Maddux and Gary Jones. I caught a liner from Wynne for the 1st out in the 6th. Why is Mark still pitching? Do we have nobody else who can go in the 'pen? Finally, after Mark gave up one more single Nestor went to Mark Davis. Honestly, I lost a little respect for Nestor today. That isn't looking out for his players. Billy Hatcher ended up scoring on an O'Neill single. Cubs lead 8-2 I came up in the 7th with none out and pinch hitter Tom O'Malley on 1st. Mark Grant was now pitching. I singled up the middle, moving Tom to 2nd. We never got any further. Frank Williams relieved for us. In the 8th Rob Deer smashed a two run homer. We don't give up! Cubs lead 8-4 Scott Garrelts came in to pitch for us. I caught a Wynne pop for the 1st out. I led off the 9th with Mark Chapman pitching. I dropped one in to centre for a single. Mike walked. Chili Davis hit a three-run homer! We couldn't get that last run and fell 8-7. I ended up 2 for 5. We are tied with the Reds. The merry-go-round continues. After the game WIllie Fraser was called up and Terry Mulholland was sent down.

It is out last game in Chicago and the Cubs are throwing Jeff Robinson (2-1, 3.79) at us. No, not that one. He is still with us. The Giants are pitching Bryan Hickerson (1-0, 5.14). None of us have faced Robinson. This nonsense with he pitching revolving door means we are pitching a guy on short rest again. That hurt us yesterday. We'll see. I opened the game by grounding out to Mike Brumley at short. The Cubs started with a Marvell Wynne walk and a Juan Beniquez home run. I then got a Paul O'Neill grounder for the 1st out. I got a Mel Hall grounder for the 2nd out. But then Billy Hatcher scored on a Bo Diaz double. Cubs lead 3-0 In the 2nd I came up with two out and Bobby Grich on 2nd. I grounded out to Beniquez at 3rd. We got one back in the 3rd when Chili Davis scored on a Rob Deer double. Cubs lead 3-1 In the bottom we got a nice Grich - Priske - Aldrete double play to get Beniquez and O'Neill. I then got a Hatcher grounder to finish it off. I came up with one out in the 4th and struck out. I next came up with two out in the 6th and struck out again. Mark Davis subbed in for HIckerson in the 6th. I came up in the 8th with two out and pinch hitter Jerry Mumphrey on 1st. Don August was pitching. He struck me out too. Scott Garrelts took over on the mound for us after that. He got his three but we were not able to score int eh 9th and we had another loss. I went 0 for 5 with three strikeouts. Awful. We slipped a half game behind the Reds. Now we are off to Pittsburgh. But not before Terry Mulholland and WIllei Fraser switched again. Stupidity.

We are in Pittsburgh to take on Bob Walk (1-3, 7.12) and the Pirates. The Giants are pitching Terry Mulholland (0-2, 5.40). I am 2 for 5 vs Walk. I opened the game by taking a walk from Walk. Stolen base #19. Mike Aldrete walked behind me. I went to 3rd on a deep fly by Chili Davis. I was unable to score. I came up next with two out in the 2nd. Bob Brenly was on 2nd and Bobby Grich was on 1st. What did I do? I hit my first home run of the year and the 8th of my career. Giants lead 3-0 I made my first defensive play in the bottom half, taking an Ozzie Virgil grounder for the 3rd out. In the 4th Johnny Ray scored when Terry tried to pick Kirk Gibson off at 1st and threw it away. Giants lead 3-1 I led off the 5th by grounding out to Sid Bream at 1st. In the bottom half I started a Priske - Grich - Aldrete double play to get Chris Speier and Sap Randall. In the 6th Bobby launched a two run homer! I came up with one out and Terry on 2nd. John Cooke was pitching. I lashed one to centre for a single. Terry went to 2nd. We both moved up on a wild pitch. Mike singled, Terry scored, and I went to 3rd. I scored on a Chili double. Later Miek scored on a Rob Deer fielder's choice and Chili scored on a Bob Brenly single. Giants lead 9-1 In the bottom half we got a Grich - Priske - Aldrete double play to get Ozzie Smith and Johnny Ray. I came up with one out in the 7th. John Rabb had pinch hit for Bobby and was on 1st. Jeff Fassero was pitching. I dropped one into left for a single. John advanced to 2nd. We both moved up on a wild pitch. We move dup again, with John scoring, when Dan Driessen pinch hit for Mike and grounded out to 1st. I was left at 3rd. Giants lead 10-1 John and Dan stayed in to change the right side of our infield. I caught a Virgil pop for the 2nd out. In the 8th Rob Deer scored on a Chris Brown single. Giants lead 11-1 We ended the 8th with a Priske - Rabb - Driessen double play to get Smith and Ray again. I led off the 9th with Fernando Gonzalez on the mound. I singled into right but got greedy and was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. I took a Sixto Lezcano grounder and threw him out at 1st to end the game. BIG WIN BIG DAY FOR ME! I was named Player of the Game! I went 4 for 5 with 3 singles and a home run! Three RBI! Two Runs scored! A stolen base! My batting average is up to .284! We are now a half game ahead of the Reds! What happened after Terry Mulholland threw a complete game victory? What else? He was sent back to Phoenix. Willie Fraser is back. Again.

The Giants have Bruce Ruffin (5-0, 1.82) going against the Pirates and Neil Allen (0-1,6.75). I am a mere 0 for 1 vs Allen. He was a reliever before this year. I led off the game by striking out. Before the inning was up I also grounded out. That should tell you how it went for my teammates. Steve Stanicek tripled with the bases loaded and then scored on a Bobby Grich single. Giants lead 4-0 Mike Aldrete led off the 2nd with a solo blast. Giants lead 5-0 In the 3rd Alan Cockrell homered with two out. I came up with Bruce on 1st. Fernando Gonzalez was pitching. I singled through the left side. Mike walked to load them up. We were left like that. Giants lead 6-0 I got the last out in the bottom half off an Ozzie Smith grounder. In the 5th I came up with one out and Chris Brown on 2nd and Alan on 1st. I flew out to Kirk Gibson in left. With two out, Miek singled home Chris. Then Chili Davis singled, to load the bags. Rob Deer reached on an error, scoring Alan. Then Steve smashed a grand slam. Giants lead 12-0 In the bottom half the Bucs scored - Chris Speier crossed on a Sap Randall double. I got the 2nd out of a grounder by pitcher John Cooke. Giants lead 12-1 I handled a Don Baylor grounder for the last out in the 6th. I faced Cooke to lead off the 7th. I singled to right. Stolen base #20. Uh yeah. What was I doing there? Mike singled and I went to 3rd. Chili walked and the bases were loaded again. Cooke uncorked a wild pitch and I scored. Mike and Chili scored on a Rob Deer single. Giants lead 15-1 I came up with two out int he 8th and Aaron Carlie pitching. If he were to make me wear one, I would totally understand. He didn't. I flew out to Gibson again instead. After Bruce walked the first batter in the 8th, Nestor lifted him for Frank Williams. Frankie got his six outs and the game was over. I went 2 for 6 with a run and a stolen base that I am none too proud of.

The Giants have Doyle Alexander (3-1, 3.51) facing Rick Rhoden (2-3, 6.68) and the Pirates. After yesterday, I half expect to wear the first pitch of the game. I have gone 3 for 10 vs Rhoden. Rather than get hit, I got a hit on the first pitch of the game. Single to left. I advanced to 2nd on a Mike Aldrete single. I stole 3rd (#21). Rob Deer doubled and I scored. Mike moved to 3rd. He ended up scoring on a Chris Brown groundout. Giants lead 2-0 I got the first out of the bottom half, catching a Johnny Ray pop. I came up in the 2nd with two out and Bob Brenly on 2nd. During my at bat there was a wild pitch, moving Bob to 3rd. I ended up grounding out to Rhoden. I got the last out in the 3rd off a Ray grounder. I came up with one out in the 5th and flew out to Kirk Gibson in left. The Pirates got on the board in the 6th when Ray scared on a Don Baylor sac fly. Giants lead 2-1 In the 7th I came up with two out and Bob on 2nd again. This time I dropped one into right for an RBI single! Stolen base #22. Mike walked. Rob walked, loading them up. Steve Stanicek singled and both Mike and I scored. Giants lead 5-1 I came up in the 8th. Once again there was two out and Bob on 2nd, but this time Jerry Mumphrey was also on at 3rd. Aaron Carlie was pitching. I grounded out to Ray at 2nd. In the 9th we got another run when Rob scored on a Chris Brown fielder's choice. Giants lead 6-1 Dennis Eckersley came in to pitch the 9th, in a non-save situation. Three ground balls later the game was over. I went 2 for 5 with two runs scored, an RBI, and two stolen bases. I am hitting .292! Tomorrow we start a two game set in St. Louis.

We are in St. Louis to face Ted Power (4-1, 2.61) and the Cardinals. The Giants are pitching Eric Show (1-3, 6.83). It has been a rough start for Eric. I have gone 2 for 7 vs Power. I kicked off the game by grounding out to Mike Marshall at 1st. The Cards opened the scoring in the 1st when Tom Herr crossed on a Marshall single. Cardinals lead 1-0 I came up with one out in the 3rd and grounded out to Terry Pendleton at 3rd. I made my first play on defense in the 4th, grabbing a Pendleton grounder for the final out. I came up with one out in the 5th, with John Rabb on 1st. I grouded out to Herr at 2nd, but moved John up. In the 6th Marshall slugged a two run homer. Cardinals lead 3-0 I led off the 8th, now facing Todd Worrell. I struck out. In the 9th Steve Stanicek scored on a Cards error, but that is all we could get and fell 3-1. I was 0 for 4. After the game Nestor told me I would probably get tomorrow off. As he says, it is a long season.

The Giants have Willie Fraser (1-0, 0.00) pitching the last game in this short series against the Cardinals. St. Louis is pitching Bob Kipper (3-1, 3.04). Nestor was a good as his word and Brian Giles got the start at short. I came is as pinch runner in the 8th, while we were trailing 6-4. I stayed in to play SS. Mark Davis was pitching for us and it did not go well. I got the 1st out on a Vince Coleman fielder's choice but Bob Meacham scored on the play. That was all they could get across though. Cardinals lead 7-4 It was enough. We lost. After losing two in a row, we are back in a tie with the Reds. Tomorrow we are back home, with the Cubs coming to town.

Richard Dotson (2-3, 5.51) and the Cubs are in town to face Bryan Hickerson (1-1, 5.03) and the Giants. I have gone 1 for 3 vs Dotson. I led off the home half and I flew out to Billy Hatcher in centre. Steve Stanicek did a little better, powering out a two run homer. Giants lead 2-0 I got Mel Hall's grounder for the 1st out in the 2nd. In the bottom of the 2nd Bobby Grich went deep for a solo shot! Giants lead 3-0 I got Dotson out on a Marvell Wynne fielder's choice for the 2nd out in the 3rd. I then got a Juan Beniquez grounder for the 3rd out. I led off our half by striking out. The Cubs got on the board in the 6th when Hall singled home Wynne from 2nd. Giants lead 3-1 I led off our half by grounding out to Mike Brumley at short. In the 8th Hall struck again as he hit a sac fly to score Beniquez. Giants lead 3-2 I came up with one out in the 8th and Alan Cockrell on 1st. I flew out to Hatcher again. Before the inning was up, Alan scored on a Chili Davis single. Then Mike Aldrete and Chili scored on a Single by Steve. Giants lead 6-2 Dennis Eckersley took over for us in the 9th. Three outs later, we had the win. Good win for us, but I went 0 for 4. We have the lead back as the Reds lost!

Most of the league has the day off, but not us! The Cubs are pitching Bill Swift (2-2, 5.16). The Giants have Bruce Ruffin (6-0, 1.74). Bruce is having an amazing season so far. Cy Young calibre. I have gone 2 for 12 vs Swift. I led off the home half by hitting one off the centre field wall for a double! Stolen base #23! I then scored on a Mike Aldrete ground out. Giants lead 1-0 I got the 1st out in the 2nd off a Bo Diaz grounder. Unfortunately Mike Brumley tripled and then scored on a wild pitch. Game tied 1-1 It got worse in the 3rd when Bruce threw away and easy grounder, allowing Marvell Wynne to score from 2nd. I caught a Diaz pop to stop it from getting out of hand. Cubs lead 2-1 I came up with one out in the 3rd and I dropped one into left centre for a single. Stolen base #24, despite running into a pitch out. Unfortunately I was thrown out trying to steal 3rd. In the 4th Tom Foley scored off a Wynne triple. Cubs lead 3-1 I came up with two out in the 5th and singled... but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. I am hitting today, but my over-aggression is costing us. I grabbed a Diaz grounder for the 1st out in the 6th. In the bottom half Miek scored during a Steve Stanicek double play. Cubs lead 3-2 Scott Garrelts took over pitching for us in the 8th. I caught a Billy Hatcher pop for the 2nd out. I led off the bottom half, now facing Don August. I put one into right for a single. I went to 2nd on a fly out by Mikey. I scored on a Chili Davis single. Tie game! Game tied 3-3 Dennis Eckerlsy took over pitching in the 9th. He walked a batter but a Priske - Grich - Aldrete double play got Gary Jones and Brumley out. We got the walk-off in the 10th with me standing on deck. Bobby Grich tripled and Tom O'Malley hit a pinch hit single to win the game 4-3! I wnet 4 for 4! A double and three singles! Two runs scored! Two stolen bases! I was caught stealing and thrown out trying to stretch a single as well. My Batting average is up to .296 We are widening our lead over the Reds! 1.5 games! Tomorrow the Pirates come to town!

I got the 3rd out of the game by catching a Kirk Gibson pop up. I led off our half by hitting one off the right field wall for a triple! I scored on a Chili Davis ground out. Giants lead 1-0 I came up next with one out in the 3rd. I struck out. The Pirates tied it up in the 4th when Sap Randall singled home Gibson. Game tied 1-1 We got the lead right back when Steve Stanicek led off the next half inning with a solo homer. Giants lead 2-1 I came up in the 5th with one out and Bobby Grich on 3rd. I grounded out back to Rhoden. Mike Aldrete picked us up, though, singling home Bobby. Giants lead 3-1 Im the 7th Doyle surprised us all by taking Rhoden deep! Home run! I came up with one out and took a walk. Stolen base #25. I scored on a single by Mikey. Giants lead 5-1 I ended up getting the final out of the game, grabbing a Denny Gonzalez grounder. We won! I went 1 for 3 with a double, a walk, two runs scored, and a stolen base!

Today the Pirates ar pitching Mike Bielecki (3-2, 3.31). The Giants are going with Eric Show (1-4, 6.06). Eric has struggled a bit this year. Hopefully he can get it together. I have gone 2 for 6 vs Bielecki. I led off our half by striking out. I made my first play in the field, getting the 1st out in the 3rd off a Denny Gonzalez grounder. The Bucs scored that inning when Ozzie Smith crossed on a Bip Roberts single. Pirates lead 1-0 I led off the 4th by getting out first hit of the game - a single through the right side. Stolen base #26. Then Chris Brown put one over the left field fence for a two run homer! Giants lead 2-1 The Pirates tied it up in the 5th when Bielecki scored on a Roberts double. Then Bip scored on a Sid Bream double. I stopped it by playing a Don Baylor grounder for the 3rd out. Pirates lead 3-2 I came up with one out in the bottom frame and I singled to centre. Stolen base #27. Stolen base #28 AND I scored when the catcher threw it away trying to catch me! Making things happen! Game tied 3-3 I led off in the 8th by striking out again. But Chris Brown managed to score on a Rob Deer single! Giants lead 4-3 Dennis Eckersley came in to shut things down in the 9th. Nestor also made some defensive adjustments, bringing in Brian Giles and Tom O'Malley to play the corners. Three up, three down and we had the win! I went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases! I am hitting over .300! We lead the division by 2.5 games! I just read that I might be in the conversation for MVP! Me?! Wow.

We are finishing up our home series vs the Pirates. They are pitching Jose DeLeon (2-2, 4.66). The Giants are going with Willie Fraser (1-1, 3.97). I have gone 6 for 19 vs DeLeon. I heard Bob Brenly before the game and it sounds like he could use a day off. Luckily, we all have one tomorrow. I got into it right away, handling an Ozzie Smith grounder for the 1st out. A couple of batters later Kirk Gibson put one into the bleachers for the first run. Pirates lead 1-0 I led off our half by plying out to Sap Randall in centre. The Bucs struck again in the 2nd with Ozzie Virgil belting a two run homer. Then Chris Speier scored on a DeLeon ground out. Pirates lead 4-0 We got on the board that inning when Chris Brown hit a solo shot. Pirates lead 4-1 I came up with one out in the 3rd and dropped one into left for a single. I ran into a pitch out and was thrown out trying to steal. I got the 3rd out in the 4th off a DeLeon grounder. We got another run that frame when Chris scored on a double by Bob. Pirates lead 4-2 In the 5th I started a Priske - Grich - Aldrete double play to get Ozzie Smith and Johnny Ray out. I came up in the 5th with one out and pinch-hitter Jerry Mumphrey on 2nd. I walked. Mike Aldrete hit one off the centre field wall for a double. Jerry scored and I went to 3rd. We were left there. Pirates lead 4-3 Frank Williams took over on the mound for us to kick off the 6th. We saved a run with an Aldrete - Priske - Williams double play to get Virgil and Speier to end the inning with a man on 3rd. I took another DeLeon grounder for the 2nd out in the 7th. I came up in the 7th with none out and pinch hitter Tom O'Malley on 1st. I hit into a fielder's choice. Stolen base #29. Then Mikey took one over the fence to give us the lead! Giants lead 5-4 Scott Garrelts came in to pitch in the 8th. He got his guys, giving up one hit, and then Nestor went to Dennis Eckersley for the 9th. Three batters later we had the comeback win. I went 1 for 3 with a single, a walk, a run scored, a stolen base, and a caught stealing. That is five wins in a row for us. Now we get a day off before the Cardinals come to town.

Today the Cardinals are pitching Danny Cox (2-3, 4.81). The Giants have Doyle Alexander (5-1, 2.68). I have gone 7 for 24 vs Cox. I led off our half by grounding out to Mike Marshall at 1st. Mike Aldrete followed me with a solo homer. Giants lead 1-0. I made me first defensive play in the 3rd, grabbing a Tom Pagnozzi grounder for the 1st out. I led off the bottom frame by popping out to Terry Pendleton at 3rd. Mikey ended up scoring on a Rob Deer sac fly. Giants lead 2-0 In the 4th we got a Grich - Priske - Aldrete double play to get Andy Van Slyke and Oddibe McDowell. I led off in the 5th by striking out. Mikey followed me with another solo shot. Then Chili Davis scored on a Steve Stanicek double. Giants lead 4-0 I came up with one out in the 6th and put one through the right side for a single. Stolen base #31. Mikey walked behind me. (It seems that once you belt two homers, the pitchers get a little nervous around you.) I scored on a Chili single. Giants lead 5-0 I led off in the 8th, now facing Jeff Lahti. I walked. Stolen base #32. Mikey walked. Double steal! I scored on a Steve ground out. Giants lead 6-0 One out away from a complete game shutout, Doyle gives up a solo homer to Van Slyke. He still gets the 6-1 win. We have won 7 straight! I went 1 for 4 with a single, a walk, two runs scored, and three stolen bases! Tomorrow is a travel day as we are heading to New York City!
