Holy mackinaw, that's quite the offseason. Why give up so much to Colorado for Tyson Barrie?

Also, did you bring Ville Husso over to the Marlies or leave him in Sweden? I'm halfway through my second season with my newest Leafs save, and I didn't bring him over-- and now I wish I had! He's been excellent over there.

It was a risk at the time but I had no intention of resigning Franson, I didn't want to have $8 million tied up in one defenceman, and no intentions of signing the two. It helped me trim my salary down while getting a young defenceman back.

As for Husso, he didn't want to come over seas yet, but I do suspect he will for the 2015/16 season (or at least, in my other games, he comes over).

He was asking for $4.5 for 4 years with a NTC. That seemed a little steep for me at the time.

I am not complaining. Barrie has been great so far.

Every GM needs to make their mark. Are you going to be picking up any picks or anything? Or trying to rebuild like Burke?

If there is one draft to stockpile picks, 2015 would be it. I started to do it (With the Robidas trade) but then realized I am very close to the cap floor. I can't trade straight for picks. I will have to try and be creative.

Besides this draft, I do think Toronto has the start of a foundation (With Kadri, Monahan, Reilly, Bernier, Jones, Husso, Vrana, MacInnis, Desmond). With a few free agent signings, good drafting, I don't think a full rebuild is in order. I can do re tooling on the fly. I do count 2015 draft to be a very important time as a GM to really build this team.

The McDavid trade seemed like you were abusing the AI a bit. I don't think a real GM would ever trade away the #1 overall draft pick for the #17 overall and a few lower picks.

As a resident of the Toronto area I am interested in how your team will do!
