Very longtime league has good teams available

- League name: The Antiquity League
- League URL: The Antiquity League - Home
- League type: Historical (currently Off-season 2003-2004)
- Number of teams: 28
- OOTP version: OOTP20
- Ratings: 1-20
- Sim Speed: M-TH, 7-8 says per sim, approx. One Sim Month per Real Week.
- Special Rules: Uses financial, coaching, modified medical, three minor league levels, MLEs for all players that ever played in the majors (and some that didn't) and several Japanese players, talent change randomness very, very minimal, NO scouting

My league, the Antiquity League, is a twenty-eight team league that has been together since 1927 (Seventeen years and counting!). We have an extremely solid core of owners drawn from a variety of professions and acquaintances. Until our recent expansion, we had to replace only one owner in the previous sixteen seasons and that was due to his death. We are NOT a fly-by-night group of 19-year olds, but instead we are mostly older professionals. We have owners in their late-20s, many owners in their 30s and 40s and several that are now in their 50s and 60s. Our league forum is on Facebook but I also send out hand-made group emails after each sim.

The Antiquity League draws from the 30 major league teams, in addition to using many players that were career minor leaguers (using MLEs for minor leaguers), plus we add about 5-10 Japanese League players per season. From 1927 to 1957 we were a a DMB league, but we switched to OOTP for the 1958 season. We sim approximately thirty sim days per real-time week and complete approximately four seasons in a calendar year. The league uses four levels of minor leagues, coaches and financials, but not scouting (and only a modified doctors system). The league webpage can be found at The Antiquity League - Home.

Since I've waited until we switched to OOTP 20, we have several teams available. For several of these teams, I've done the tedious work of rebuilding several of these teams, which are either now already excellent or will be very shortly.

The available franchises are:

Strong team

Chicago Orphans -
* Winners of 98+ games twice in the last three years, this is an excellent team and it’s likely to get better in the near future. Only one player on the roster is over age-29.
* Best players are OF Bobby Abreau, OF Atsunori Inaba (lifetime OPS* of 141), 3B Makoto Imaoka (lifetime OPS+ of 106), SS Cristian Guzman, UT Felipe Crespo, OF Jose Guillen, 1B Richie Season, C Ben Petrick, OF Jody Gerut, C Brian Schneider, SP Tim Hudson, SP Livan Hernandez, SP Brad Penny, SP Daisuke Miura (102 ERA+ in 2002-03), SP Russ Ortiz, relievers Grant Balfour, Rob Tejeda, Braden Looper.
* Minor league system: 5th (MLB-ready SS Jose Reyes, SP Francisco Liriano, MLB-ready LF Matt Holliday, CF Denard Span, C John Faso, OF Jeremy Reed, C Dioner Navaro, SP Scott Olsen, RP George Sherrill, RP Jose Garcia). Drafting 25th in June 2004.

Competitive

Brooklyn Dukes -
* Won 90+ games six times since 1996. Won 86 games in 2002 but seem to be on the down slide, with an aging lineup and a weak farm system. The core of their pitching staff is in its prime.
* Best players are 30-year old sluggers, Todd Helton and Shawn Green, Laynce Nix, Craig Monroe, Eric Munson, starters Mark Mulder, Kyle Lohse, Javier Vazquez, Mike Hampton and reliever Damaso Marte.
* Minor league system: 17th (3B Don Kelly, OF Scott Hairston, 1B Micah Hoffpauir, relievers Enrique Gonzalez, Felix Sanchez, Kyle McClellan, Daniel Cabrera). Drafting 12th in June 2004.

Kansas City Monarchs -
* A 1997 expansion team, that went from 114 losses to 84 wins last year. Excellent VERY young core / farm system in a competitive division. Their farm system ranks mid-tier only because they promoted three great pitchers last year.
* Best players starters C.C. Sabathia, Jon Lester, John Lackey, Ryan Vogelson, relievers Bobby Jenks, Matt Belisle, OF Cliff Floyd, SS Tomohiro Nioka (lifetime OPS+ of 100), 3B Russell Branyan
* Minor league system: 11th (2B Robinson Cano, 3B Justin Turner, OF Grady Sizemore, C Miguel Montero, OF Ryan Ludwick, 3B David Freese, C Gerald Laird, OF Skip Schumaker, MLB-ready RP Chad Cordero). Drafting 17th in June 2004.

Montreal Expos -
* Finishing a long-rebuild that saw them go 80-82, after losing 90+ games from 1995-2002. They should start to win soon, but they play in a VERY difficult division.
* Best players are C Victor Martinez, veteran Jeff Bagwell, CF Aaron Rowand, OF Trot Nixon, OF Jayson Werth, UT Todd Walker, SP Jason Hammel, Glendon Rusch, relievers Eric Gagne, Octavio Dotel, Ramon Ramirez, Joel Peralta, Hector Carrasco).
* Minor league system: 2nd (OF Josh Hamilton, 3B Pablos Sandoval, SS Josh Wilson, 3B Mike McCoy, SS Ryan Theriot, SS Adam Everett, 2B Luis Valbuena, OF Ryan Sweeney, starters Ubaldo Jimenez, Oliver Perez, Dontrelle Willis, Chad Gaudin, reliever Joel Hanrahan, Kevin Jepsen, Neal Cotts). Drafting 15th in June 2004.

Rebuilding

Oakland Oaks -
* They’ve played .500 ball over the last five seasons. Their MLB team is in its prime but might lack top-of-the-line talent. Their farm system is getting better but they play in a division where there is only one excellent team, so the divisional wild card is there for the taking if you want to tweak them for a playoff run.
* Best players are all in their prime, including 3B Aramis Ramirez, SS Edgar Renteria, LF Alfonso Soriano, 3B Morgan Ensberg, OF Darin Erstad, 1B Eurbiel Durazo, C Michael Barrett, OF Marlon Byrd, C Johnnycakes Estrada, starters Sidney Ponson, Kevin Millwood, Wade Miller, 19-year-old Anibal Sanchez, Aaron Harang)
* Minor league system: 12th (1B Adrian Gonzalez, SS Asdrubal Cabrera, 3B Jack Hanrahan, C J.R. House, starters mid-rotation prospect Tsuyoshi, Wada, Ian Snell, Shaun Marchum, relievers MLB-ready John Axford, MLB-ready Ambiorix Burgos, Ernest Frieri). Drafting 16th in June 2004.

I take an inordinate amount of care on the Antiquity League and I think that you will be very pleased to be a member of the league.

Thanks for your time and consideration,
