Logo Request: Barstow Buzz

Editor’s Note: Barstow Sparks, not Buzz

Two down, six to go. Thank you everyone for the incredible logos and uniforms for the Palmdale Aces and Victor Valley Horns. Here is my third request for my upcoming fictional independent league:

Barstow Sparks

A little bit of background. The Sparks are owned by a former computer programmer turned aspiring smart-car designer and manufacturer based in Barstow, California. The name refers to the first model in the Luna Motor Co. lineup of cars, the Luna Spark.

For some reason, I keep going back to the movie “Cars” in my head, thinking about that iconic logo for the movie, and the cartoonish car characters. The logo itself is akin to a hood ornament, and I can totally see that here for the Sparks. If we could somehow capture the vibe of Cars and its roots in racing, that would be perfect. The mascot itself for the team will be named “Sparky.” I honestly wouldn’t mind an out-and-our rip-off of this logo, but I also don’t want to stifle your creativity. Everyone here is so amazing with their designs, and I don’t want to get in the way of that.

As with all teams in the league, I’d like a Diamond “Easter egg” hidden in the logo. Feel free to refer to the previous logos in this forum, the Palmdale Aces and Victor Valley Horns, for reference in sneaking in a diamond. I think with that Cars-type look, there are a lot of possibilities. Thanks so much!

If you were up late last night, you probably saw the original name of the team, the Buzz. I slept on it, and woke up this morning really dreading that whole singular collective name (ie Miami Heat). If you happened to catch that last night and already have something going, I sincerely apologize. I’ve been very hesitant to post any requests until I have been 100% sure on a city and name, but I’m really happy with this new name. It is in fact stolen from the name I had for another team - the team I will actually be running in the dynasty from another town - which just goes to show you how much I like it!

Also, here’s an “S” I found that fits that Cars motif and really captures the feeling of a Spark. Could be used for the hat logo if it’s incorporated into the logo, like in place of the “V” that’s in the Cars logo.

Simply amazing, Tex. I love the subtle diamond in there too. I really like the team colors. Thank you so much.

Do you save the original psd’s for logos that you make? I may come back to this at some point and ask for the original so I can create a logo for the car manufacturer, as I role play my way through a PC game called “Production Line”

Tex, what can I call the official colors for the work you did here, and for the Victor Valley Horns? I want to go beyond “red and blue,” so if you have exact color names by any chance, could you let me know? Fantastic work as always!

Thank you and your welcome... I don't have any names for those colors... They were taken from a Detroit Pistons logo that I found in a search and I created the Sparks logo based on that Pistons logo... You could call them Brickyard Blue, Racing Red and Winning White...

Don't think they could be done better.

Think this could be another team in my next dynasty.

The tan or brown is called Pronghorn... Maybe antelope white and carbon black...
