Daytime baseball - is there a command to change the schedule?

Hi all,

I am back to playing a historical simulation league, random debut, all players 1901-2017, using old time ball parks, starting in 1947 but using 1981 as the Historical Year.

One thing is that the effect of using the beautiful old ballparks is somewhat lessened by the schedule being mostly nightgames.

So I go to the League settings, "edit schedule" and at least for my team's games (the New Jersey Owls), I change every game to be played, one day at a time, month by month, from 7:05 PM start to 1:05 PM.

But it is laborious. Is there a command that would enable me to just change the schedule to all or mostly day games?

It is anachronistic anyway that most of the games are at night in 1947 I think, but in any case, I want natural (digital, virtual) light, not the stadium lights.

Any alternatives to doing it by hand, one game at a time?

Thanks.

I will post some league results in a separate thread soon. We have just completed our second season. My teams has been mediocre at best, but has made shrewd trades and draft picks and hopes are high for 1949, though a good pitching staff still lacks a real ace.

Can't be of any help in regards to changing schedule and please forgive me if you've already thought of my suggestion and decided against it. But here goes...….you could always simply get rid of the night ballpark image and replace it with the daytime image.

Ugh, my bad here. If you play 3D what I just suggested probably doesn't work. I was talking 2D Classic.

You can open the schedule file in Wordpad and use the search and replace function to change times en masse. You can search for "1905" and replace all instances with "1305", for example.

From a realism perspective, I would point out that 1:05 pm is too early a start time for day games in 1947. Back then, day games typically started between 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.; night games typically started between 8:00 p,m, to 8:30 p.m.

This should test my limited abilities yet again, wonder how many tries along with how much swearing this it going to take to get right.

It's not that bad. You'd be surprised just how useful dumping text temporarily into Wordpad (even Word) and running search & replace to clean it up is for other purposes. It's quite a handy trick.

ETA: In terms of the gradual shift in start times over the years, I've got that info somewhere. I can dig it up if you're interested in the details to that degree.
