Spring Training
Can someone tell me what the point in Spring Training is?

From what I can gather it serves the same purpose of that in real baseball. There is an element of "rust" that players accumulate during the offseason. The same thing happens to players who get injured and spend time on the DL. You have the option to give them a rehab assignment in the minors to make sure they're "right" before throwing them back out there.
Aside from that, just like real Spring Training, it gives you a sense of whom you might want to keep on your 40-man, 25-man, etc. |

In the video game it does server a real purpose, too.
You need enough IP and AB to knock of rust from a long layoff, like an offseason or an injury. Once that rust is knocked off, it reamians off while they are on an active roster. This last part is from slightly uncertain verbage of manual wihtout directly saying it, and forum posts form ootp employees. can google search site:forums url for it. *also, assumes no change from previous years. |
