Wild Cards for Collection Missions
Was thinking about the concept of having "wild cards" for collection missions. There would be a card that wouldn't be a player but could be used in lieu of a specific card as a collection requirement. There could be every level of wild card (bronze to perfect) to replace the concomitant level card in a collection and the relatively difficulty in obtaining the wild card scaled to it's level (i.e. bronze wild cards being far easier to obtain than perfect ones). So, for example, if I have a Diamond Wild Card I could use that to replace Bill Freehan in the Tigers collection requirement.
Wild cards could be earned in tournaments, maybe a gold level wild card for the winner and a silver wild card for the runner up etc. etc. That way the reward for the tournament could be customized to the needs of each player as they could use the wild card to complete the collection mission of their choice instead of getting a card of a specific player that may not have any utility for them. You could also have people earn pieces of a card from tournaments. Say a silver wild card takes 100 silver wild card pieces. A reward for coming in the top 20 teams in a tournament could be 10 silver wild card pieces towards completing the 100 pieces needed to complete a 100 piece silver wild card. This would increase the rewards and incentives for entering tournaments and make tournaments less of a zero sum game where only the team that wins the tournament gets a reward and more players could earn a smaller reward for doing well but not winning the tournament. Wild cards could also be in packs. Not sure what the odds would be but it could be a way to mitigate the extreme unlikelihood of pulling that one card you need to complete a collection and make buying and ripping packs more attractive thus driving pack sales and putting more cards in the AH. Anyway, could be interesting and make some collection missions more feasible and it would tend to mitigate situations where certain mission structures and behaviors on the AH make some collection missions more difficult to complete than intended. The idea has promise. The wild card should be allowed to be auctioned so that people not interested in missions could get some value from it.

Very good idea. Also should have a limit of 1 per mission.

Love it! For all the reasons you mention. In addition, doing this instead of creating "new cards" is good --- I think we have plenty of cards already.

Agreed, a great idea; however, I don't see a reason to set an arbitrary limit on how many could be used for a mission. If I'm allowed to use multiple wild cards per mission, that's gonna give me a little more incentive to spend $$$ and rip packs (if included in packs).
And if multiple wildcards can be used per mission, then they shouldn't be sellable on the AH; making them account bound would also produce incentive to rip more packs (if included in packs). Regardless of how it could (if ever) possibly be implemented, this is a great idea Dman7666 Last edited by pappyzan; 11-01-2019 at 03:53 PM. |

I don't see this idea as very good. It just creates another card that will sell for 100K or more and/or be just as rare as the card you need. Right now, the wild card for me is Al Hrabowsky. I don't need it, so if I pull it, I can sell it for 100K+ and buy the card I need with the proceeds.

I think wildcards is a great idea and there's no need for them to be sold either. We can simply open packs and after we get our 5 irons and 1 token bronze, we can occasionally receive a notification of a 7th card which happens to be wild. That way if you don't collect for missions you get all your cards and the wildcard can just stay inactive, but if you like doing missions you can use it. It might even engage non-mission players to try their luck at completing missions once they get a couple.
Regardless, I like the idea. |

While I take care of humans these days and no longer lines of 4th gen code, this seems like it would be a nightmare for the devs. I could be and very often am wrong about that, though...

Create a new diamond card. A player with all 1 ratings and the name Wild Card
Add said card as a potential slot in every mission Done |

You just know that some genius will have that all-1-rated player in their lineup, right?

Only way you'd sell it to me is if I could turn around and get 150k card for it. As PT Barnum said.....

This doesn't even have to be in packs. We'd be less likely to abandon and forget our teams, even once they're fully fleshed out and there's not much left to do with them, if we could get 1/50th of a Wild Card each new day we log into the game.

Interesting idea. I think what would work is if some (random) cards had a "Mission Wild Card" tag to them, but other than that they would be normal cards... of course, we'd need to carefully balance this.
Anyway, we wrote it down for future considerations |

Markus, the original post was about making them tourney rewards, which I think is what makes sense, and provides a synergy between tourneys and missions.

There's no reason why they couldn't be both tournament rewards and in packs, too.
