Extended Spring Training/Minor League Spring Training
I'd love to see these things modeled to do 2 things in OOTP 14:
1 - Would avoid "rust" on minor league players. Right now, it seems that the major leaguers have the opportunity to shake off the rust in spring training while the minor leaguers do not. In real life, they have their own minor league camp and can come out of the gate in much better form than if they'd been idle all off-season. 2 - Player improvement in extended spring training. Basically all players assigned to short-season teams have 2+ months of extended spring training to improve their skills. I'm not sure how difficult this would be to implement, but I think it would some authenticity and realism.

I think that rust only applies to players on the 40-man roster, but I'm not sure nor do I have any documentation to back that up. If I'm right, then the only minor-leaguers who could be affected by rust would be in spring training to shake it off.

EDIT: nvm
Sounds fine but I don't really care either way. Last edited by BeancheBlanco; 01-27-2013 at 10:51 PM. |

I'm all for Minor League Camp because that would solve using up an Option on a Person and would allow Non Roster People in Game.

I think non-roster invitees are a must. I often have prospects who I'd like to take a look at in spring training, but don't want to add them to the 40-man roster and waste an option year. And it would also allow us to sign minor league free agents and invite them to camp to compete for a bench spot without having to put them on the 40-man right away. These are basic principles of spring training, so it would be nice if there was a way for them to be part of OOTP. |

I would definitely like Non-Roster invites in the game. Maybe have a separate spring training roster with no limit on (unless there are limits, Ping: LGO) where you can "sign" any player to a spring training contract that cots nothing and can be released at any time.
