May 3rd-May 9th

May 3rd, 2019: We were in Texas for three, and we'd send Drew Pomeranz (2-1, 3.90 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) to the mound against Miguel Almonte (1-2, 7.30 ERA, 1.66 WHIP). It was a close one, but we edged them 3-2 to win the opener.

Mike Clevinger left with an injury. He went 1.2 innings with a walk, strikeout, and earned the win.

Pomeranz went 4.2 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), and 2 walks. Jake Diekman and Boone Logan got holds before Zach Britton got the save.

Trey Mancini was 1-for-3 with a two run homer and walk. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a double. Tim Beckham was 2-for-4. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk.

May 4th, 2019: Max Fried (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) took on Ronald Herrera (1-3, 7.16 ERA, 1.63 WHIP) in the middle game at Globe Life Park in Arlington. We got three in the third and ended up winning 5-3.

Fried went 5, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, and struck out five while walking 2. Mychal Givens, Logan, and Britton got holds before Joakim Soria earned the save. Britton allowed 2 hits and got a strikeout before being pulled for Soria.

Michael A. Taylor was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, walk, steal, and 2 runs scored. Ian Desmond was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Trey Mancini was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and 2 RBI's. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a double.

May 5th, 2019: Mike Clevinger tore his labrum and will head to the 60-Day DL and miss the rest of the year. I recalled Pedro Araujo from AAA.

Yankees RHP Ben Heller tore his ulnar collateral ligament and will miss the rest of the year. He was 1-1 with a 8.10 ERA in 9 relief appearences this year.

The 2019 Draft Pool was published, and here's who OSA ranks as the top 10 prospects with my scout and their scouts ratings.

1. RHP Ethan Hankins (3.5/3.5): Selected by the Braves 8th overall last year.
2. SS Josh Bell (4/5)
3. SS Bobby Witt Jr. (3.5/3.5)
4. LHP Jadon Sanon (2.5/4)
5. RHP Andy Chance (4/4.5): He's probably my top choice, and also already a 1.5 overall.
6. CF Alpha Brierre (2.5/4.5)
7. RHP Jon Conner (3.5/4)
8. C Shea Langeliers (4/4): Drafted by the Blue Jays in the 34th Round in 2016.
9. LHP Luis Medina (2/4)
10. RHP Mike Jarvis (0.5/4.5)

My scout likes this draft, with a nice mix of wuality players. 2B Kenen Irizarry (5) looks like the top position player, although he's of a defender then hitter. Catchers Jared Thomas (4.5) and Kurtis Byrne (4.5) are also intersting. There are a lot of top relievers and a few unsignable guys with a lot of talent.

Now in first, we looked to finish the sweep with Nathan Eovaldi (2-1, 6.23 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) facing Ervin Santana (1-2, 6.04 ERA, 1.70 WHIP). We continued rolling and finished the series with a 8-6 win.

Eovaldi went 5, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs (1 earned), walking 4 and striking out 2. Jake Diekman got a hold, before Kelvin Herrera blew the save. He allowed 3 runs in 0.2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and a strikeout. Mychal Givens got the win and Erasmo Ramirez earned the save.

Tim Beckham was 3-for-4 with 2 runs and a solo homer. Michael A. Taylor was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, homer, and steal. Victor Reyes was 3-for-5 with a run scored. Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a walk and two run homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jose Peraza was 1-for-4 with a steal and run scored.

Following the streak, we're off to Anaheim for four with the Angels. We'll face Alex Meyer (2-2, 4.23 ERA), Shoehi Ohtani (4-1, 1.83 ERA), Matt Shoemaker (0-4, 7.03 ERA), and Jake Odorizzi (!-2, 4.50 ERA).

May 6th, 2019: At 16-13 and now in first place, we're up to 6th in the Power Rankings.

The first of four saw Aaron Sanchez (1-3, 2.97 ERA, 0.83 WHIP) take on Alex Meyer (2-2, 4.23 ERA, 1.37 WHIP). It took 13 innings, but Mike Trout hit a walk off solo homer off Erasmo Ramirez and the Angels won 4-3.

Sanchez pitched fine, 5.2 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, and 5 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez got the loss, 3.1 innings with a hit, run, and a strikeout. He did pitch really well though.

Michael Taylor was 4-for-5 with a double and steal. Trey Mancini was 3-for-6 with a double and 2 runs scored. Tim Beckham was 2-for-6 with 2 RBI's. Chance Sisco was 2-for-6 with a double.

May 7th, 2019: We looked to bounce back after the long affair yesterday with Kevin Gausman (1-2, 6.75 ERA, 1.66 WHIP) taking on Shoehi Ohtani (4-1, 1.83 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). It was another close one, but we were edged 6-4.

Gausman went 5, allowing 8 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), 2 walks, and he struck out 6. Boone Logan pitched the 8th, allowing a hit, run, and 2 strikeouts.

Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a RBI double and two run homer. Tim Beckham was 3-for-5 with a double. Jose Peraza was 2-for-3 with a hit by pitch. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Victor Reyes was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Mariners 1B Dan Vogelbach was 6-for-6 in a 6-5 loss to Oakland.

May 8th, 2019: Miguel Castro will head to AAA for a rehab assignment.

We needed to get back on track with Drew Pomeranz (2-1, 3.63 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) taking on Matt Shoemaker (0-4, 7.03 ERA, 1.60 WHIP). We got five in the fifth to win 8-3.

Pomeranz allowed 8 hits and 3 runs in 3 innings while striking out 4. Mychal Givens got the win, 2.2 innings with 2 hits and 3 strikeouts. Joakim Soria earned a 3 inning save, allowing a hit and striking out a pair.

Tim Beckham was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a homer. Jose Peraza was 1-for-5 with a triple and RBI. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-3 with a walk, 2 runs, a hit by pitch, and double. Chance Sisco was 2-for-5 with a double, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with 2 runs sand a walk.

May 9th, 2019: We looked to earn the split with Max Fried (1-0, 2.45 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) taking on Jake Odorizzi (1-2, 4.50 ERA, 1.67 WHIP). We got three in the ninth, but it wasn't enough, and we dropped the finale 4-3.

Fried went 4.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks, and he struck out 2. Erasmo Ramirez went 1.2 innings with 4 hits, a run, and 4 strike outs.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a three run homer. Max Stassi was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

We head home for three with the White Sox. We'd see Scott Kazmir (1-0, 3.63 ERA), Josh Tomlin (3-2, 2.81 ERA), and Spencer Adams (3-1, 3.44 ERA).

May 10th-May 16th

Sidenote: This dynasty is going to take a little bit of a back seat to the Marlins one. I got really into that, and while I'm not forgetting this one, I'm hoping I can win the World Series this year and then retire it. I have a few interesting new ideas I want to test out as well, and to current MLB ones is a little repetitive

May 10th, 2019: We opened the series hosting the White Sox with Nathan Eovaldi (2-1, 5.52 ERA, 1.52 WHIP) taking on Scott Kazmir (1-0, 3.63 ERA, 1.10 WHIP). We got three nice insurance runs in the 7th to win the opener 6-2.

Eovaldi went 6 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Pedro Araujo got the win, a perfect 7th with a strikeout. Boone Logan had the same stats with a hold.

Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Jose Peraza was 2-for-3 with a solo homer and sacrafice fly. Yolmer Sanchez was 1-for-3 with a three run homer. Chance Sisco was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

May 11th, 2019: We looked to win the series a day early with Aaron Sanchez (1-3, 3.21 ERA, 0.83 WHIP) facing Josh Tomlin (3-2, 2.81 ERA, 0.84 WHIP). It was a nailbiter, but we hung onto a 5-4 win.

Sanchez pitched fine, 5.2 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Kelvin Herrera and Boone Logan earned holds while Zach Britton got his 5th save of the season. Herrera went 1.1 innings with a hit, run, walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Victor Reyes was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Anthon Alford was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jose Peraza was 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBI's. Chance Sisco was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored.

May 12th, 2019: The Tigers will be without young CL Joe Jimenez for the rest of the year. He tossed 13.2 scoreless innings with 7 saves and 12 strikeouts.

We looked to finish the sweep with Kevin Gausman (1-3, 6.82 ERA, 1.71 WHIP) facing Spencer Adams (3-1, 3.44 ERA, 1.32 WHIP). We got three in the first to finish the series with a 5-3 win.

Gausman went 6, allowing 9 hits, 3 runs, and he struck out 7. Jake Diekman and Mychal Givens got their 4th holds of the year, while Zach Britton earned save #6.

Michael A. Taylor was 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with a three run homer. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a run scored and triple. Tim Beckham was 1-for-3 with a double. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Kaleb Cowart increaesd his hit streak in a 4-2 Braves loss to the Nationals. Sean Manea tossed a 4-hit shutout as the A's beat the Rays 2-0.

May 13th, 2019: Alex Cobb is headed to AAA for a rehab assignment. He hasn't pitched since last year.

At 20-16, we moved up 1 spot to fifth in the Power Rankings.

Kaleb Cowart's hit streak was snapped at 20 games.

Looking ahead to the Red Sox series, we'd see Eduardo Rodriguez (1-4, 5.94 ERA), Rick PorcellO (3-1, 3.74 ERA), and Dallas Keuchel (4-1, 4.06 ERA).

May 14th, 2019: The Royals will be without SP Jesse Hahn for the year with a stretched elbow ligament. He was 1-3 with a 5.01 ERA in 7 starts.

Former Red Sock Drew Pomeranz (2-1, 4.06 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) opened the series against Eduardo Rodriguez (1-4, 5.94 ERA, 1.47 WHIP). Tied at 2 heading into the 9th, Victor Reyes hit a walkoff sinlge off Alex Colome and we won 3-2.

Pomeranz was 4.1 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez tossed 2.2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Joakim Soria got the win, pitching the 9th with 2 strikeouts and a hit.

Reyes, the hero, was 2-for-5 with a run scored, double, and RBI. Chance Sisco was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI.

Alex Cobb is iehaded back to the DL for 2 weekswith back tightness.

Tigers Mark Reynolds hit his 300th career homer. The 35-year-old nicknamed "Sheriff of Swattingham" is a career .235/.326/.451 hitter with 865 RBI's in 1,675 games.

May 15th, 2019: We looked to keep rolling with Max Fried (1-1, 3.52 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) facing Rick PorcellO (3-1, 3.74 ERA, 1.22 WHIP). The Red Sox got two in the 9th, but we heald them off 6-4.

Fried pitched great, 6.2 innings with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez went 1.1 innings with 3 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts. Zach Britton tossed an inning with 3 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and a strikeout. Despite a respectable 2.35 ERA, he has a 2.09 WHIP.

Sanchez went just 3.2 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Eovaldi went 2.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Not sure why he came out of the pen though. Herrera got the win, getting a strikeout in a perfect 9th.

Anthony Alford was 3-for-5 with a run scored, double, and 2 RBI's. Jose Peraza was 3-for-4 with 3 runs and was 2-for-3 stealing bases. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and RBI.

We've got a nice 2.5 game lead over the Yankees, as we finish our homestand with three against the first place Athletics. We'll see Miguel Gonzalez (1-2, 3.79 ERA), Sean Manea (5-1, 2.47 ERA), and Daniel Mengden (1-4, 5.25 ERA).

We get tomorrow off before the Red Sox come to town for three.

The Twins will be without RHP John Curtiss for the year with bone chips in his elbow. He was 0-1 with a 3.95 ERA in 13.2 innings with an impressive 22 strike outs.

Game two saw Erasmo Ramirez (1-1, 3.04 ERA, 0.97 WHIP) make his first start of the season against the lefty Sean Manaea (5-1, 2.47 ERA, 1.06 WHIP). We got 5 in the fourth and won the series a day early with a 6-3 win.

Ramriez went 4 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Pedro Araujo got the win, 2 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Joakim Soria struck out the side in the 8th, but allowed a run and 2 hits. Zach Britton pitched the ninth and got his 7th save of the season.

After sweping the first place A's, we have a day off to travel to Atlanta for a two game series.

May 20th, 2019: At 26-16, we are up all the way to second in the Power Rankings.

Off to Atlanta for a quick two game stop where we will see Shane Carle (1-3, 4.89 ERA) and Patrick Weigel (0-5, 7.05 ERA).

May 21st, 2019: Our game got postponed today, so we'll have a double header tomorrow before another off day.

May 22nd, 2019: Game one of the double header saw Aaron Sanchez (2-3, 3.68 ERA, 0.97 WHIP) battle Shane Carle (1-3, 4.89 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). It was a close one, but Sanchez pitched a gem, and we won 3-1 to extend our win streak to 10.

Sanchez, as mentioned, was brilliant, going 8 innings with 2 hits, a run, walk, and 10 strikeotus. Zach Britton finished the game 1-2-3 with a strikeout to earn his 9th save, saving the pen for game two.

Victor Reyes was 3-for-4 with a walk and steal. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Yolmer Sanchez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jose Peraza was 1-for-4 with a triple. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a run scored and hit by pitch.

Game two saw former Brave Max Fried (2-1, 2.86 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) face Mike Soroka (2-5, 5.67 ERA, 1.43 WHIP). This universe/my scout doesn't see Soroka as good as he is in my Marlins dynasty. The Braves got two in the 9th, but we were able to hold them off for an 8-6 win as we swept the double header.

Lewis Brinson and Nathan Eovaldi both left with day-to-day injuries, but won't undergo DL stints.

May 30th-June 5th

May 30th, 2019: We had today off.

I traded Ian Desmond and Mike Clevinger to the Royals for Ian Kennedy with all his salary retained by the Royals. I then traded him and CF Cedric Mullins to the Rockies for Bryan Shaw with all his contract retained.

Shaw, 31, is rated a 3.5* and has a 1.80 ERA and 0.89 WHIP this year with 27 strike outs in 24.2 innings.

The Rangers come to town for three, and we'll see Chad Bettis (1-3, 5.05 ERA), Ervin Santana (2-4, 8.51 ERA), and Yohander Mendez (2-3, 2.70 ERA).

May 31st, 2019: I optioned Max Fried to AAA to make room for Shaw. Nathan Eovaldi weill re-enter the rotation.

We opened the series against Texas with Drew Pomeranz (2-1, 3.98 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) taking on Chad Bettis (1-3, 5.05 ERA, 1.43 WHIP). It was a great pitching outing, and we shut them out 6-0.

Pomeranz went 7, allowing just 3 hits and a walk, with 7 strikeouts. Mychal Givens tossed the last 2 innings, walking 2 and striking out 2.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a walk, 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a double, and homer. Anthony Alford was 2-for-5 with a steal and run scored. Victor Reyes was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and double. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI's and a sac-fly.

Tyson Ross of the Diamondbacks tossed a 2-hit shut out in a 5-0 win over the Giants.

June 1st, 2019: We started June with Kevin Gausman (3-4, 6.85 ERA, 1.70 WHIP) taking on Adrian Sampson who is making his first start of the year. We scored 7 runs in the first 2 innings and won 9-4.

Gausman went 6, allowing just 1 hit, 1 run, 1 walk, and he struck out 7. Mychal Givens went 1.1 innings with 2 hits, an unearned run, and a walk. Pedro Araujo went 1.1 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 walks.

Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, a walk, and 2 home runs. Trey Mancini was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, and a homer. Chance Sisco was 3-for-5 with a run scored. Yolmer Sanchez was 2-for-4 with an RBI and steal. Victor Reyes was 3-for-5 with 2 runs and an RBI. Jose Peraza was 1-for-4 with a steal and run scored.

July 2nd, 2019: All-Star voting numbers were announced. Jonathan Schoop is third for second base and Zach Britton is third for relievers.

We looked to finish off the sweep with Aaron Sanchez (4-3, 2.94 ERA, 0.86 WHIP) taking on Yohander Mendez (2-3, 2.70 ERA, 1.05 WHIP). The offense went off, and we crushed them 13-3.

Sanchez didn't pitch too well, 4.2 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and just a strike out. Kelvin Herrera went 3.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 5 strike outs. He got the win.

Chance Sisco was 3-for-4 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, 2 doubles, hit by pitch, and a homer. Trey Mancini was 3-for-4 with a three run homer and hit by pitch. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-5 with a run scored, double, and 2 RBI's. Anthony Alford was 2-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 2 walks. Jose Peraza was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, and RBI.

The Angles come to town for three before the Amateur Draft. We'll see Andrew Heaney (4-3, 5.34 ERA), Shoehi Ohtani (8-1, 1.78 ERA), and Matt Shoemaker (1-6, 7.33 ERA).

June 3rd, 2019: At 34-19, we rank 3rd in the Power Rankings.

We opened the series with Erasmo Ramirez (2-1, 2.85 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) taking on Andrew Heaney (4-3, 5.34 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). It was a close one, but they edged us 5-3.

Ramriez went 5, allowing 8 hits, 3 runs, and he strck out 3. Shaw made his debut for us, 0.1 innings with 2 hits, a run, and 2 walks. Zach Britton pitched the 9th, allowing a run off 3 walks and a strike out.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Tim Beckham was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jonathan Schoop was also 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-2 with 2 walks. Victor Reyes was 1-for-5 with a run scored and steal.

June 4th, 2019: Game two saw Nathan Eovaldi (3-1, 4.47 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) take on Shoehi Ohtani (8-1, 1.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). We couldn't score off the young phenom, and were shutout 4-0.

Eovaldi went 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and he struck out 3. Joakim Soria allowed a run off 2 hits in an inning of work.

Chance Sisco was 1-for-3 with a walk and double. Jose Iglesias was 1-for-2 with a walk. Victor Reyes was 1-for-3. Lewis Brinson was 0-for-1 with a walk and hit by pitch.

I optioned Mychal Givens to AAA for Miguel Castro, who finished his rehab.

June 5th, 2019: Before the draft, we had to avoid getting swept by the Angels. Drew Pomeranz (3-1, 3.51 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) faced Matt Shoemaker (1-6, 7.33 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) in the finale. We gor three in the second, and one the finale 4-2.

Pomeranz went 4.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeoiuts. Boone Logan got the win, 1.1 innings with 3 strikeouts. Bryan Shaw and Jake Diekman got holds before Zach Britton got the save.

Lewis BRinson was 2-for-4 with a double and two run homer. Anthony Alford was 2-for-4 with a walk, steal, run scored, and RBI. Jonatahn Schoop was 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Victor Reyes was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 walks. Trey Mancini was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and RBI.

Rafael Devers went 5-for-5 and Chad De La Guerra was 5-for-6 as the Red Sox out slugged the Blue Jays 13-11.

Bradley Zimmer hit three homers in a 7-5 Indians win over the Rangers.

Odubel Herrera extended his hit streak to 20 games.

Up next, I'll look to draft the next class of hopeful superstars!

Amateur Draft

Happy Draft Day! With the first pick in the 2019 Amateur Draft, the Miami Marlins select, SP Jon Conner! My scout isn't the biggest fan, a 3.5* potential borderline starter.

1st Round, 13th Overall: SS Eric Nichols (4): He's actually a pretty great player, with nice speed, good defense, and a solid bat. As a senior in high school he hit .505 with 4 homers and 31 RBI's. He barely strikes out, has great pop, and an absolute cannon in the field. He makes a lot of contact, and the lefty hitter hits line drives all over the field. He's a great teammate and the Meriden, CT native seems to be a lock as a big league superstar.

2nd Round, 59th Overall: C Jared Thomas (4): Thomas also has a lot of pop, although he doesn't make the same amount of contact as Nichols. He's got a better eye, but is a less complete offensive player. He's great at calling the game and has a passable arm, but pitchers love when he calls the game. He's got great energy and will use that to help himself learn and improve.

3rd Round, 89th Overall: RF Chris Adair (4.5): He won't sign, but man is he a stud. The lefty has elite power, barely strikes out, and hits a ton of extra base hits all over the field. He's not the best fielder and doesn't always make the most contact, but he's a top 5 pick that fell to the third round due to signability. I'm going to try to persuade him to join the organization, but it may cost a lot.

4th Round, 119th Overall: CF Clint Rementer (3.5): He has the range and speed for center, but also the arm for right field. He's got great plate discipline, but doesnt't always put the ball in play. He'll never really be a home run hitter, but he's good for maybe 15-20 a year. He's got All-Star potential, but it's safer to say respectable starter.

5th Round, 149th Overall: SP Nick Lodolo (2.5): This may be a steal, as the TCU junior was selected 41st overall in 2016. He's got the best curveball in the class, rated a perfect 100 and has plus stuff. He can pitch deep into games, but needs to work on his movement and control. He throws 93-95 with his fastball out of a 3/4 arm slot as a lefty.

6th Round, 179th Overall: SS Anthony Volpe (3.5): He won't sign, but he's definitely worth a shot. He's an elite defender and could be one of the best at shortstop. His great speed and great instincts allow him to get to almost every ball hit in the infield. He's extremely knowledgeable, but is a light hitter. He probably will top out at 3 homers a year, but he can hit almost .300.

7th Round, 209th Overall: SP/3B Josh Wolf (2.5/2.5): I'll use the youngster as both a two-way player where he ironically has the same potential rating. As a pitcher, he's got pinpoint control with a plus-plus curve and plus fastball and change up. He hits 91-93 consistently but doesn't have too much movement. As a hitter, he'll strike out a lot, but he has a great arm, decent pop, and he puts the ball in play a lot. He's a nice pick because he can make the majors at either position.

8th Round, 239th Overall: RP/RF Sean Clincy (3/1): Another two way player, although Clincy is best as a reliever, he's another interesting prospect to pick up. He can throw a ton of innings out of the pen, and if he had a change up worth throwing, he could start. He hits 97 with his plus fastball and has plus movement and control. In the field, he has great speed, a cannon in right, and can man all three outfield positions and first base. He's fast and doesn't strike out much, but he just hits a lot of ground balls.

9th Round, 269th Overall: SS Michael Wilson (2.5): He was selected by the Red Sox in the 15th round back in 2016, and showed enough in college to get picked higher his second time around. The speedy middle infielder is a great defender with a decent enough bat that he looks like almost a lock to be a utility infielder. He doesn't really stand out, but he has the talent to pave his own way.

10th Round, 299th Overall: SP Brendan Yudt (3): Won't sign, although I wish he would. While he may not end up a starter, the lefty has a plus-plus cutter, plus splitter, and passable change up. He's a durable lefty who can pitch deep into games and averages around 93-95 with the cutter. He's got solid movement as well, and has the future as a #3 in the rotation.

11th Round, 329th Overall: 2B Kenen Irizarry (2.5): The Puerto Rican native moved to Miami for high school where he excelled on his varsity team. He's a solid defender with a gret eye and excellent speed. He has decent pop and won't strike out too much, but he does swing and miss a lot.

12th Round, 359th Overall: SP Trysten Barlow (2): A senior from Mississippi State, Barlow has a great slider and does a great job of keeping the ball on the ground. The lefty doesn't stand out too much, but looks like a future back of the rotation arm. He's got enough raw talent to force himself on to a big league roster.

13th Round, 389th Overall: SS Cletus Brisebois (2.5): A Montreal native, Breisebois has utility man written all over him. He can play all over the diamond, and will be great in the infield or the outfield. He has the range and arm to stick at short, with decent foot speed as well. He hits a lot of line drives, doesn't strike out too much, and can surprsie you with the occasional home run.

14th Round, 419th Overall: SP Dave Schadler (2.5): Won't sign. He's got a devestating curveball and overall plus studd. He doesn't have the best stamina, but it's enough to start and give you 6 solid innings. He's got average movement and control, and can throw 90-92 consistently with his fastball.

15th Round, 449th Overall: SS Andres Alvarez (2.5): Undrafted as a junior, the Washington, glove-first, senior showed enough with his bat to get selected this time. A wizard in the middle of the infield, Alvarez has great speed and instincs. Repetition is key for him, and he put in a lot of work this year to ear nthe selection. He'll never offer too much with the bat, but his glove will bring opportunities.

16th Round, 479th Overall: CF Tyler Duncan (2.5): Another Canadian, Duncan was selected back in 2016 by the Mariners in the 30th Round out of Edward Milne Community School in Sooke, British Columbia. He then attended UCF for college, and proved he had the range and speed for center field. He's got a great eye, a decent enough bat, and quality defense in the outfield. He seems like fourth outfielder with a little more upside then most.

17th Round, 509th Overall: CF Jonathan Javier Simonsen (2.5): He's got blinding speed and solid range, but I think he ends up in right with his arm. He can also play a little infield, perhaps even short, but he's comfrotarble at third. He's got nice pop and his versatility makes him an interesting prospect to watch.

18th Round, 539th Overall: RP/3B Cal Coughlin (2.5/1.5): Another junior from TCU and another two-way player, Cal Coughlin is an interesting prospect to watch. He's got three plus pitches, but doesn't have the stamina, yet, to start. He's average with his movement and control, but looks like a reliable middle reliever. As an infielder, he's a decent defender with a lot of swing and miss power. He's not very fast, but still fields his position well.

19th Round, 569th Overall: SP Steve Burridge (2): He's got great stamina and a durable right arm that's good for at least a back-of-the-rotation arm. He doesn't throw very fast, but features a plus change up and curveball.

20th Round, 599th Overall: CF Juan Montelongo (2): He won't sign. He's got huge power, but a terrible eye, which leads to lots of loud strikeouts. He's a decent defender with decent speed, but an awful base runner. Attending college in the states will help the 17-year-old switch hitter.

21st Round, 629th Overall: CF Jasiah Dixon (2): He won't sign. He's got blinding speed, is an amazing defender, but not much of a hitter. For a 17-year-old, his defense is way ahead of his age, but his bat is way behind. With work, he can become a productive big leaguer.

22nd Round, 659th Overall: CF Randy Garber (2): I think the speedy Garber can stay in center with his range and footspeed, although he won't really ever be a threan on the base paths. He's got decent power and makes okay contact, but swings at a lot of bad pitches. He's a project, but one with upside.

23rd Round, 689th Overall: SS Luis Laguer (2): Won't sign. The youngster has had injury problems already, and missed all of his sophomore season. He's a solid defender at second, third, and short, but doesn't really have much speed. He's got a good eye and nice pop, but doesn't make enough contact.

24th Round, 719th Overall: C Jack McPherson (2): A college senior, McPherson is already a quality defender behind the plate who is relaxed and confident. He's not the best hitter, but his value lies in his ability to control a pitching staff.

25th Round, 749th Overall: CF Tristan Kincer (2): He can play a little bit of everything, which makes him extremely valuable. While he's not the best hitter, he does give you good at bats and is an extremely committed and determined youngster. He's tought himself how to play nearly every position, and will be good at it wherever he ends up.

26th Round, 779th Overall: CF Jared Burkholder (1.5): Won't sign. He's got great speed, great range, and a great arm, but he makes a lot of errors in the outfield. He's got a passable bat, and with more work, he'll be a passable player.

27th Round, 809th Overall: SS Andy Clanin (2.5): Don't let the rating fool you, he's not really that good. His talent lies in his defensive ability. While he can be a top defender, he'll neer hit too much. He's also really slow, so he relies on his instincts in the field.

28th Round, 839th Overall: SP Connor Phillips (1.5): He's got pinpoint control, but chances are he doesn't sign. He's got three average pitches, although it's not yet sure if he'll end up a starter or long reliever. Going to college should help him.

29th Round, 869th Overall: SP Zach Holmes (1.5): A great leader, the youngster from Leesburg, FL boasts three plus pitches and can toss deep into games. The only problems is they don't move all that much. He's a project arm, but you can never have too much pitching.

30th Round, 899th Overall: RF Brock Anderson (1.5): Undrafted last year, Anderson hit a little better and got the selection this year. The lefty has a great arm in right, and a solid, yet uninspiring bat. He's a lot like Mark Trumbo, but won't cost you millions of dollars.

31st Round, 929th Overall: SS Jorge Cartagena (1.5): A great defender at such a young age, the Puerto Rican native can field almost anything hit to him at short. He's got a decent bat as well, although he won't hit anything out of the park.

32nd Round, 959th Overall: 1B Beau Bishop (1.5): He's a first basemen with a ton of pop and great discipline at the plate. He's not much of a defender, but the AL has a DH.

33rd Round, 989th Overall: SP Chris Flood (0.5): Won't sign. It's that time of the draft, not too many guys left, so sometimes you take guys you won't sign...

34th Round, 1,019th Overall: 3B Jeff Herbert (2): If you throw the ball even a quarter of an inch off the plate, he won't hit it. If you throw it down the middle, he'll swing, but there's only a quarter of a chance he hits it. But if he does, it'll probably go 450 feet to left field. He's got a good arm at third, but isn't a good defender.

35th Round, 1,049th Overall: SS Gunnar Henderson (1.5): Whether it's at short, second, or third, Henderson will be one of the best defenders at the position. He's got solid speed and can make plays the best of the bests will struggle with. He's not much of a hitter, but neither is anyone selected in the 35th Round.

36th Round, 1,079th Overall: SP Jim Loomis (1): He's got a really nice curveball, but that's about it. He's got the tools to be a starter, but I like him as a long reliever. He doesn't throw too fast either, but neither do moth guys in the 36th Round.

37th Round, 1,109th Overall: SP Tim Gorman (0.5): Won't sign. Hopefully for him, he makes a leap in college. He's a sidearmer with a decent change up and an interesting side arm rotation. He can throw a lot of pitches per apperaence as well.

38th Round, 1,139th Overall: SS Kea'von Edwards (1.5): Selected in 2016 by the Rays in the 30th Round, he's dropped a bit as you can see. All glove, no bat, he's got decent foot speed and he'll steal his share of bases.

39th Round, 1,169th Overall: SS Tyler A. Payne (1.5): Undrafted last year, Payne got a late call this year. He's more of a second basemen, has average speed, and won't be the worst hitter in the minors.

40th Round, 1,199th Overall: SP Chad Figueroa (0.5): Undrafted last year, he picked up a knuckleball that has been absolutely unhittable. He doesn't throw a fastball, just a change and splitter as well, and the flyballer can throw a ton of pitches. The UCLA senior is interesting because of the fact that he's a lefty kuckler, and who knows what's in store for him...

And that's all for this year, it's off to Tampa for a four game set!

Jose Peraza was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with the only other hit in the game. Trey Mancini was 0-for-1, but walked 3 times.

June 9th, 2019: Alex Cobb was injured during rehab, again. This time, he'll miss 6 weeks with a strained shoulder. I wish I could trade him...

Fan vote update: Jonathan Schoop is 3rd for second base. Zach Britton is 4th for relievers.

We looked to win the finale to earn the split, with Nathan Eovaldi (3-2, 4.47 ERA, 1.37 WHIP), another former Ray, taking on Jacob Faria (2-2, 5.14 ERA, 1.52 WHIP). We continued to struggle, and lost 9-4...

Red Sox reliever Tyler Thornburg is out for the year with shoudler inflammation. He was 2-4 with a 7.01 ERA in 25.2 innings with 28 strikeouts.

The series started with Aaron Sanchez (4-3, 2.99 ERA, 0.82 WHIP) taking on Jerad Eickhoff (6-1, 3.41 ERA, 0.93 WHIP). The bats came to play, and we took the opener 8-2.

Erasmo Ramirez left with an oblique strain, and will head to the DL. He got the first two outs of the day.

Miguel Castro got the win, 3 innings with 2 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Pedro Araujo went 2.1 innings with 2 hits, a run, and a strikeout. Joakim Soria and Boone Logan got holds while Zach Britton got a save.

June 16th, 2019: I recalled Lucas Sims from AAA, and he'd take a spot in our rotation.

Fan vote update: Jonathan Schoop sits at third for second base. Zach Britton sits at 4th for reliever.

Josh Smoker of the Pirates is out for the year with a damaged elbow ligament. He had a 4.11 ERA in 35 innings with 39 strikeouts.

We looked to finish off the sweep with Drew Pomeranz (3-2, 4.18 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) facing Patrick Corbin (4-6, 4.50 ERA, 1.42 WHIP). We didn't ptich well at all, and were crushed 11-6.

At 39-26, we're back up to 7th in the Power Rankings.

Jose Quintana of the Cubs tossed a 5-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over the Pirates.

We have a quick two game series with the Braves, where we'd face Mike Soroka (3-7, 5.92 ERA) and Patrick Weigel (1-7, 6.16 ERA).

June 18th, 2019: Yankees LHP Jerry Blevins is out for the year with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He had 25 strikeouts in 25 innings with a 5.04 ERA.

June 20th-June 27th

June 20th, 2019: The Red Sox sent RHP Amari Paschal and RHP Kutter Crawford to Oakland for LHP Zack Erwin and RF Ramon Laureano. It's a good deal for Boston.

We hosted our co-leader of the AL East the Yankees for four at Camden Yards. Aaron Sanchez (5-3, 2.81 ERA, 0.88 WHIP) took on Hidestugu Nakasone (7-2, 2.38 ERA, 1.10 WHIP). The Yanks got 4 in the 7th to take the opener 4-2.

Sanchez allowed just 1 run in 6+ innings with 5 hits, 2 walks, and 12 strikeouts. Pedro Araujo allowed 3 runs with 2 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts in two thirds of an inning.

Anthony Alford was 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a double. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

June 21st, 2019: The A's made another trade, acquiring 1B Jose Alberto Martinez from the Rangers for RHP Jharel Cotton. It's a fair trade for both sides.

We looked to even the series with Lucas Sims making his Orioles debut against Giovanny Gallegos (4-0, 2.64 ERA, 0.81 WHIP). It wasn't pretty, and we were crushed 12-5.

Sims allowed 9 runs in 3.2 innings off 8 hits, 4 walks, but he did strike out 6. Sadly, I think he'll spend a lot more time in AAA... Miguel Castro allowed a run in 2.2 innings with 4 hits, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Pedro Araujo allowed 2 runs in 1.2 innings off 4 hits with 2 strikeouts.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a double, homer, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Victor Reyes was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored, RBI, adn steal. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Yolmer Sanchez was 1-for-4 with a double. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chance Sisco was 1-for-2 with a walk and hit by pitch.

June 22nd, 2019: The Mets got a big blow to their rotation, losing Noah Syndergaard for the year with a torn labrum. He was 9-4 with a 3.72 ERA in 92 innings with 133 strikeouts.

I optioned Pedro Araujo to AAA and recalled Aaron Bummer.

We needed to get back on track with Drew Pomeranz (3-3, 4.65 ERA, 1.48 WHIP) facing Sonny Gray (3-6, 4.43 ERA, 1.51 WHIP). The Yankees got 5 in the second and it was enough to beat us 6-3. Yay...

Pomeranz allowed 5 runs in 2.2 inning soff 6 hits and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts. Boone Logan pitched the 8th and allowed a hit, run, and 2 strikeouts. Bryan Shaw pitched 2.2 innings with a hit and 3 strikeouts.

Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Chance Sisco was 2-for-4. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's.

June 23rd, 2019: All-Star update: Jonathan Schoop is ranked 3rd for second base. Zach Britton is 3rd in relievers.

We needed to avoid the four game sweep at home, with Kevin Gausman (6-4, 5.37 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) taking on Luis Severino (5-3, 4.05 ERA, 1.15 WHIP). We got three in the first, but couldn't score more as the Yankees finished the sweep with a 5-3 win.

Gausman went 7, with 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Boone Logan got the loss, 3 runs, 2 hits, and a walk, without getting an out.

Chance Sisco was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Victor Reyes wAS 1-for-4 with an RBI. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

At least we are off tomorrow...

June 24th, 2019: We dropped all the way down to 12th in the Power Rankiings, and are now 40-31 and 4 games out of first.

And, I have to cut 62 players down to 40 in the GCL. I traded four prospects to the Royals for SP Braulio Nunez and four prospects to the Mariners for C Ismerling Mota.

The Mariners came to town for three, and we'd see Felix Hernandez (5-5, 4.17 ERA), Mike Leake (2-6, 7.13 ERA), and Mike Foltynewicz (3-6, 5.00 ERA).

June 25th, 2019: Our opponent, the Mariners, sent 1B Dan Vogelbach to the Twins for LF LaMonte Wade.

We needed to start winning with Nathan Eovaldi (3-4, 5.03 ERA, 1.55 WHIP) taking on Felix Hernandez (5-5, 4.17 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). Tied 7-7 in the 9th, Trey Mancini hit a solo homer of Edwin Diaz as we got back in the win collumn with a 8-7 victory.

Eovaldi went 4.2 innings with 6 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Aaron Bummer was charged with a run in 0.2 innings off a hit and strikeout. Joakim Soria got a strike out and allowed a hit and run. Zach Britton got the win, a strikeout in a perfect 9th.

Jonathan Schoop was a perfect 3-for-3 with 4 runs, 3 RI's, a walk, and two homers. Trey Mancini was 1-for-5 with a solo homer. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Victor Reyes was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Yolmer Sanchez was 1-for-3 with a walk and steal. Cahnce Sisco was 1-for-4 with a two run double.

I got the achievemnt "Touch the PLate" for Schoop's performance.

June 26th, 2019: I activated Erasmo Ramirez from the DL and optioned Lucas Sims back to AAA.

Game two saw Aaron Sanchez (5-4, 2.73 ERA, 0.90 WHIP) face Mike Leake (2-6, 7.13 ERA, 1.66 WHIP). It was a pitcher's duel, and we edged them 3-1.

Sanchez went 7, allowing 5 hits, a run, and he struck out 8. Boone Logan got the hold and Zach Britton the save.

Anthony Alford was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and a double. Chance Sisco was 3-for-4. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with a run scored and RBI. Mancini was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly. Schoop was 1-for-3 with a RBI and hit by pitch.

June 27th, 2019: Oakland continues to make moves, acquiring 2B Whit Merrifield from the Royals for LF Nelson Cruz and 2B Franklin Barreto. It's a good deal for both teams, especially Oakland who was able to unload Cruz's salary.

We looked to finish the sweep with Erasmo Ramirez (2-3, 3.14 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) facing Mike Folrtynewicz (3-6, 5.00 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). It was a high scoring affair, but we won the finale 10-8 despite being outhit 14-9.

Ramirez lasted just 4 innings, allowing 7 hits and 5 runs with 5 strikeouts. Castro got the win, despite allowing 3 hits and 2 runs with a strike out. Bryan Sahw, Aaron Bummer, Boone Logan, and Joakim Soria got holds while Jake Diekman got a save.

Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a pair of two run homers. Tim Beckham was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, an RBI, walk, and homer. Yolmer Sanchez was 1-for-3 with a walk and three run homer. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Anthony Alford was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored.

That was a nice sweep, but now we're off to the Bronx to face the Yankees for three. We'll see Sonny Gray (4-6, 4.26 ERA), Luis Severino (5-3, 4.15 ERA), and Mashiaro Tanaka (3-4, 5.56 ERA).

June 28th-July 3rd

June 28th, 2019: We opened the series in New York with the first place Yankees, as Drew Pomeranz (3-4, 5.10 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) battled Sonny Gray (4-6, 4.26 ERA, 1.47 WHIP). Pomeranz was lit up in his first start against the Bronx Bombers, but this start was much different, as the game was tied at one heading into the 9th. We broke free for 5 in the top half to take a 6-1 lead, but allowed them to get 2 more in the bottom. Once the dust cleared, we came out on top 6-3 to do what we couldn't do at home; beat the Yankees.

Pomeranz was excellent, 7 innings with 7 hits, a run, and 7 strikeouts. Bryan Shaw got the win, an inning of work with 2 hits, a run, and a strikeout. Miguel Castro finished the 9th when Shaw couldn't, allowing 2 hits, a walk, and a run while getting a strike out and ground out.

Tim Beckham was 1-for-3 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and a big three run homer. Yolmer Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jose Peraza was 1-for-2 with a RBI. Jose Iglesais came off the bench and was 1-for-1 with a double and run scored. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

June 29th, 2019: Game two saw Kevin Gausman (6-4, 5.11 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) face Luis Severino (5-3, 4.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). We couldn't crack Severino, and lossed 4-1 as the Yanks tied the series back up.

Gausman went 6.1 innings with 8 htis, 4 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Kelvin Herrera went 1.2 innings with a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-2 with a walk, RBI, and double. Trey Macnini was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Jose Peraza was 1-for-3 with a double.

June 30th, 2019: The Brewers will be without RHP Oliver Drake for the year with a damaged elbow ligmaent. In 48 relief appearences, he tossed 38 innings with a 6.87 ERA and 41 strikeouts.

Fan vote update: Schoop third for 2B. Britton third for RP.

We looked to win the finale with Nathan Eovaldi (3-4, 5.35 ERA, 1.57 WHIP) taking on Mashiaro Tanaka (3-4, 5.56 ERA, 1.28 WHIP). They got 8 in the 4th, and killed us 14-5. I need to upgrade my SP...

Eovaldi allowed 7 in 3.2 innings with 6 hits, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Miguel Castro allowed 4 runs off 2 hits with 2 walks. And he didn't get an out... Jake Diekman went 2.1 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Kelvin Herrera tossed an inning with a hit, run, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Only Boone Logan (1 inning and 2 hits) didn't allow a run.

Tim Beckham was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk, 2 RBI's, and a double. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a walk and solo homer. Victor Reyes was 1-for-3 with 2 walks, a double, and run scored.

Off to Washington for three in the Beltway series. We'll see former Oriole Wade Miley (4-4, 4.78 ERA), Gio Gonzalez (2-6, 5.42 ERA), and Stephen Strasbug (9-2, 2.11 ERA).

July 1st, 2019: I started the month with a pitching upgrade, acquiring SP Shelby Miller and cash considerations from Arizona for Miguel Castro.

An upcoming free agent, Miller is a 2.5* pitcher who is 5-5 with a 3.89 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 15 starts. He'll jump in to the #2 spot behind Aaron Sanchez.

Down in Norfolk, Lucas Sims was named International League Pitcher of the Month. The 25-year-old was 4-0 with a 0.94 ERA in 4 starts with 38 strikeouts in 28.2 innings. He's 9-2 with a 2.81 ERA on the season with the Tides, but was roughed up in his only big league start.

We went up a spot to 10th in the Power Rankings. At 44-33, we are the 1st Wild Card team.

Speaking of Sanchez (6-4,2.63 ERA, 0.89 WHIP), he'd open the Beltway Series against Wade Miley (4-4, 4.78 ERA, 1.33 WHIP), a former teammate. We got four int he first, and that proved to be enough for the 4-2 win.

Sanchez was great as ever (and now a 4.5*), going 7 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, and 9 strikeouts. Boone Logan got a hold before Zach Britton got his 19th save.

Lewis brinson was 1-for-4 with a three run homer after both Alford and Peraza got on base. Alford was 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and run scored while Peraza was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Tim Beckham was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Chances Sisco was 2-for-4.

Yankees LHP Hidetsugu Nakasone tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over the Braves.

Down in the GCL, CF Brennen Davis hit for the cycle in a 17-3 win over the Blue Jays GCL team. He was 5-for-6.

July 2nd, 2019: The international pool was published today! There are two guys I really like.

Game two saw Shelby Miller (5-5, 3.89 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) make his Orioles debut against southpaw Gio Gonzalez (2-6, 5.42 ERA, 1.70 WHIP). It was another close one, but the Nats edged us out 2-1 to even the series.

Miller pitched fine, 6 innings with 8 hits, 2 runs, and 8 strikeouts. Three relievers combined for two innings with a strike out.

Yolmer Sanchez was 2-for-3 with a walk, double, and triple. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

July 3rd, 2019: The Angles will be without SP Andrew Heaney for the year with a torn flexor tendon. He was 6-6 with a 6.39 ERA in 16 starts.

The Yankees added to their pen, acquiring LHP Luis Avilan from the White Sox for LHP Conor Bezy and C Nick Dalesandro. I love this trade for the Chi-Sox.

We needed to win this series, with Drew Pomeranz (3-4, 4.76 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) taking on Stephen Strasburg (9-2, 2.11 ERA, 0.99 WHIP). They scored 7 runs in the first two innings and took the finale 10-6.

Pomeranz had a rough outing, 2.1 innings with 10 hits, 8 runs, a walk, and a strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez, now in the pen, tossed 3 innings with 3 hits, 3 strike outs, and an unearned run. Bryan Shaw allowed a run and hit with 2 strikeouts in 2 innings.

Tim Beckham was 2-for-4 with a walk, triple, and RBI. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Chance Sisco was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles. Anthony Alford was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-5 with a solo shot.

Indians CF Bradley Zimmer hit 3 homers in a 5-3 loss to the A's. Yes, he hit 3 homers and loss, since they were all solo shots.

Looking to bolster the team before an off day, I sent in a two big offers to improve the team. I feel like we are really close to getting over the hump.

July 4th-July 10th

July 4th, 2019: Remeber I said a big deal was going through? Well, here it is: I traded 3B Tim Beckham to the Rockies for 3B Nolan Arenado. Yes, you read that right: Nolan Arenado.

Before you freak out, Arenado is an imprending free agent who was pissed off at the Rockies and wouldn't sign an extension. Beckham, on the other hand, is still going through arbitration and is a whole lot cheaper. And Beckham is solid.

Arenado is having a down year, and I took advantage of that. He's rated a 4* and is an elite defender and hitter. I also have over $64 million for extensions, so I should be able to extend him as well. I also instantly offered him a huge one. I also worked on an extension with 2B Jonathan Schoop.

More trade news: The Angels acquired C Wellington Castillo from the White Sox for LHP Yelmery Sisnero. It's a steal for the Angels.

Royals SP Luis Edgardo Diaz tossed a 5-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over the Tigers. Rockies CF Raiel Tapia was 5-for-6 in a 13-3 win over the Pades.

We got today off, but will head home to face the Red Sox for three. We'd see David Price (3-3, 3.75 ERA), Chris Sale (4-7, 4.98 ERA), and Eduardo Rodriguez (4-5, 5.26 ERA).

July 5th, 2019: I signed Venezuelan amateur Esteban Montoya to a $2.2 million bonus. One of the two guys I really liked, the centerfielder is rated a 4* potential. He'll eventually develop into an above average defender with solid speed and a nice bat. He's rated 100 potential for gap power and 72 for homer power, and makes a lot of contact while not striking out too much.

The second guys I liiked, Japanese 3B Shnji Fukuanga, was signed to a $2.8 million bonus. Another 4*, he will never be the best defender, but he has elite power and a plus-plus eye. He's got a cannon of an arm and always works at getting better.

Man, I love being able to spend money!

I also went to extend most of my personell that would stick with the team. I like keeping continuity.

Nolan Arenado hit third and played third as we welcommed the Red Sox in a near capacity stadium that has almost 10,000 more fans then my Marlins stadium can hold. Kevin Gausman (6-5, 5.16 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) faced David Price (3-3, 3.75 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) as we looked to start the series on a good foot. We didn't pitch well, and lost 7-5.

Gausman went 3.1 innings with 8 hits, 5 runs, and 4 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez was charged with a run in 2.2 innings with 4 hits, a walk, and a strike out. Zach Britton allowed an unearned run off 2 hits with a strikeout in the 9th.

Victor Reyes was 3-for-3 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, and two homers. Arenado was 0-for-3 with a walk and sac-fly. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a walk and steal. Jose Peraza was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored.

Rockies CF David Dahl hit three homers in a 9-5 win over the Dodgers. In that same game, Beckham was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a homer in his first game with Colorado.

July 6th, 2019: Yesterday was the signing deadline for draftees, so I found out where my guys are going. After I finish all the events for today, I'd do my edits to the class of 2022.

3rd Round: RF Chris Adair (Maryland 2022)
6th Round: SS Anthony Volpe (Central Arkansas 2022)
10th Round: SP Brendan Yudt (Oklahoma State 2022)
14th Round: SP Dave Schadler (Florida 2022)
20th Round: CF Juan Montelongo (Florida 2022)
21st Round: CF Jasiah Dixon (Rice 2022)
23rd Round: SS Luis Laguer (Miami FL. 2020)
26th Round: CF Jared Burkholder (Azusa Pacific 2022)
28th Round: SP Connor Phillips (Rice 2022)
33rd Round: SP Chris Flood (Oregon State 2022)
37th Round: SP Tim Gorman (Florida International 2022)

I'd say both Adair and Yudt are likely top 3 round picks, with Adair a high first rounder. I'll recieve the 90th overall pick for Adair not signing.

The Yankees made a big deal, acquiring 3B Mike Moustakes from the White Sox for RHP Nolan Martinez, 1B Asdrubal Alvarez, and RHP Albert Carrizo. It's a fair enough deal, I guess.

Game two saw Chris Sale (4-7, 4.98 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) face Nathan Eovaldi (3-5, 5.96 ERA, 1.62 WHIP). Yes, I know my starters suck, but almost no one wants to trade one... It wans't even close, and we were crushed 12-3. Yay...

Eovaldi allowed 5 runs in 5 innings off 11 hits with 3 strikeouts. Kelvin Herrera allowed 6 runs off 5 hits with a walk and a strikeout in 0.2 innings. Aaron Bummer allowed a run in 2.1 innings off 2 hits with 2 walks.

Victor reyes was 1-for-4 with a 2 run double. Jose Peraza was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a double. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Some names to look out for in the 2022 class are as followed:

SP Ryan Hawks, Vanderbilt (7th Round, Blue Jays)
RF Juan Sotero, South Carolina (5th Round, Royals)
RF Andy Mascarenas, Cal-State Fullerton (36th Round, Twins)
C Kurtis Burne, Mississippi State (6th Round, Angels)
SP Ian Woods, Florida State (3rd Round, Athletics)
SP/1B Spencer Joens, Florida (6th Round, Phillies)
CF Joe Garner, Michigan State (21st Round, Phillies)
C Gabe Briones, Mississippi (6th Round, Diamondbacks)
SS Cade Doughtry, Stanford (2nd Round, Rockies)
CF Sean Oldenkamp, Missouri (21st Round, Padres)

July 7th, 2019: All-Star Update: Schoop, third for second. Sanchez fifth for starters. Britton third for relievers.

The Dodgers will be without RHP Zong-ming Zang for the rest of the year with shoulder inflammation. The Rookie from Taiwan was 4-3 with a 5.33 ERA in his inagural season in the MLB.

We looked to avoid the sweep with Aaron Sanchez (7-4, 2.62 ERA, 0.87 WHIP) taking on Eduardo Rodriguez (4-5, 5.26 ERA, 1.37 WHIP). It was a close one, but they edged us 3-2. Nice...

Sanchez struggled, 4.2 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. The pen went 4.1 innings with 2 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Boone Logan struck out the side in the 8th.

Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Red Sox 3B Rafael Devers now has a 20 game hit streak.

The Marlins come to town for three as we look to shake off the rough start to the homestand. We'll see Adam Conley (1-8, 5.31 ERA), Merandy Gonzalez (3-4, 4.23 ERA), and Seth Lugo (4-6, 5.14 ERA).

July 8th, 2019: Both Arenado and Schoop agreed to extensions. Arenado will recieve $232,000,000 over 8 years, $29 million per year, with an opt out after year four and a player option for 2027. Schoop will get 5-years worth $82,500,000, $16.5 million per year with the final year a team option with a $1.7 million buyout.

We dropped way down to 16th in the Power Rankings. Now in third, we are 45-38 and 6 games out of first.

We opened the series with the Marlins as Shelby Miller (5-6, 3.83 ERA, 1.39 WHIP) facing Adam Conley (1-8, 5.31 ERA, 1.48 WHIP). We pitched well, winning the opener 5-1.

Miller was great, 6 innings with just 1 hit, 1 run, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Three relievers combined for 3 innings with a hit and 5 strikeouts.

Arenado finally hit, 1-for-3 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Michael A. Taylor was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI.

Devers' hit streak was snapped at 20.

July 9th, 2019: Atlanta will be without the young Canadian Mike Soroka for the year with shoulder inflammation. He was 3-9 with a 6.08 ERA in 16 starts with just 49 strikeouts in 90.1 innings.

The Rays will be without RHP Cory Rasmus for the year with a torn rotator cuff. He made 38 relif appearences in 45.1 innings to go with a 3.97 ERA and 43 strikeouts.

The Mets acquired 2B Cesar Hernandez and RHP Ed Voyles from the Phillies for RHP Zack Wheeler. I like this deal for the Mets, although it isn't bad for Philly.

Game two saw the struggling Drew Pomeranz (3-5, 5.51 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) take on Merandy Gonzalez (3-4, 4.23 ERA, 1.53 WHIP). Tied headed to extras, the Marlins rallied for four in the top of the 10th and evened the series with a 7-3 win.

Pomeranz went 6 with 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Boone Logan got the loss, a run off a hit with a strikeout in the 10th. Joakim Soria also got just 1 out, 3 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and strikeout.

Arenado had a great game, 3-for-5 with a double, homer, and 2 RBI's. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a solo homer and hit by pitch. Chance Sisco was 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch.

After the game, I upgraded the rotation by acquiring SP Reynaldo Lopez from the White Sox for SP Nathan Eovaldi and 3B Jomar Reyes.

Lopez, 25, has an elite fastball and curveball with an average change up. He hits the high 90s with his fastball, has great control, but gives up his share of flyballs. He's got a 3.84 ERA and 5-3 record in 18 starts this year.

July 10th, 2019: The A's will be without CL Zack Burdi for the year with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He was having a solid sophomore year, 3-1 with 11 saves and a 3.55 ERA.

Reynaldo Lopez (5-3, 3.84 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) made his Orioles debut against Seth Lugo (4-6, 5.14 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). Lopez joins the list of players that have played for both my Marlins and Orioles team, and gets to play the Marlins for his first game with me. We got five in the fifth to finish the series with an 8-4 win.

Lopez went 6 with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Kelvin Herrera allowed 2 unearned runs with 2 hits and a strikeout in the 7th inning. Six more pitchers combined for 2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Three guys didn't record an out, but Britton struck out the final two hitters of the game to earn his 20th save.

Nolan Arenado was 1-for-3 with a solo homer, 2 runs scored, and a hit by pitch. Anthony Alford was 2-for-4 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, and sac-bunt. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a stela. Jose Peraza was 1-for-4 with a run scored and steal. Michael A. Taylor was 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and RBI.

We get tomorrow off, and will head north of the border to face the Blue Jays for three!

July 11th-July 17th

July 11th, 2019: With a day off, I browsed the trade market. I submitted an offer for a relief pitccher. I also acquired CL Blake Treinen and cash from the Giants for SP Matthias Dietz.

Treinen, 31, is a 3.5* extreme groundball pitcher who is having a great season. He's got 16 saves and a 1.78 ERA in 35.1 innings with 37 strikeouts and a 1.13 WHIP. The righty throws a steady high 90s plus-plus fastballs and sinkers with a plus-plus slider and passable change up. He's got great movement, and really bolsters the pen.

I optioned Aaron Bummer to AAA to make room for him, and designated Jose Torres for assignment.

Mariners 1B Travis Shaw hit three homers in a 13-1 domination of the Rangers.

In Toronto, we'll see Robert Stephenson (3-6, 8.58 ERA), Dakota Chalmers (0-2, 6.43 ERA), and Tyler Anderson (4-3, 5.89 ERA).

July 12th, 2019: We started the series in a rough pitching matchup between Kevin Gausman (6-6, 5.48 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) and Robert Stephenson (3-6, 8.58 ERA, 2.00 WHIP). We got three quick runs and took the opener 6-2.

Gausman went 6, allowing 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and he struck out 3. Bryan Shaw allowed a run in an inning of a single hit. Zach Britton struck out the final hitter of the game to earn his 21st save.

Trey Mancini was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, and an RBI. Victor Reyes was 1-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI's, a walk, and a steal. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a solo homer, 2 runs, and 2 walks. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-3 with a double and walk.

Yankees 2B Tyler Wade extended his hit streak to 20 games.

July 13th, 2019: Aaron Sanchez (7-5, 2.76 ERA, 0.91 WHIP), who is 0-2 with a 3.86 ERA against the Blue Jays this year, took on Dakota Chalmers (0-2, 6.43 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) in a packed Rogers Centre. Up 3-2 headed to the 9th, we got four in the 9th including a Victor Reyes three run homer in an eventual 7-3 win.

Sanchez was great, tossing 8+ innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Joakim Soria finsihed the 9th, an inning with a walk and strike out.

Victor Reyes was 3-for-5 with the three run homer. Anthony Alford was 2-for-4 with a walk, run scored, RBI, and steal. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Chance Sisco was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and 2 walks.

July 14th, 2019: AL Fan Vote update: Schoop 3rd for 2B. Sanchez 5th for SP. Britton 2nd for RP.

I outrighted Jose Torres to AAA.

We looked to finish the sweep with Shelby Miller (6-6, 3.68 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) facing Tyler Anderson (4-3, 5.89 ERA, 1.61 WHIP). The Jays offense was silent, and we shut them out 8-0 to complete the road sweep.

Millwer was greaet, 8.1 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Drew Pomeranz came out of the pen, finishing the game with a hit and strike out.

Victor Reyes was 2-for-4 with a double, homer, 2 runs, and 4 RBI's. Trey Mancini was 3-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Anthony Alford was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-5 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and RBI.

We're off to Tampa for three to face the team just half a game ahead of us for the 1st Wild Card. We'll face Matt Andriese (8-2, 3.99 ERA), Chris Archer (5-3, 2.77 ERA), and Blake Snell (4-7, 4.46 ERA).

July 15th, 2019: Shelby Miller asked for an extension, but it's more then I'm willing to give him.

We moved up to 9th in the Power Rankings after the sweep and we now have a record of 50-39.

The Rays acquired CL Daniel Hudson, SP Edinxon Arias, and cash from the White Sox for SP Kevin Gadea and 2B Nick Solak. It's a nice deal for both teams.

Former Ray Erasmo Ramirez (2-3, 3.41 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) got the start against Matt Andriese (8-2, 3.99 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) in the opener at the Trop. Anthony Alford led off the game with a solo homer, but that was all the runs we'd get in a 7-1 loss.

Ramirez allowed 12 hits in 4.1 innings off 5 runs while striking out 4. Pomeranz allowed 2 unearned runs in 2 innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and a stirkeout.

Alford was 1-for-3 with a walk and the solo homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with a double. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4. Jose Iglesias was 2-for-3.

July 16th, 2019: Alex Cobb will head to the GCL to begin a rehab assignment.

I traded Kelvin Herrera to the Red Sox for Alex Colome and cash.

Colome, 30, has three plus pitches, plus movement, and plus control and has been brilliant this year with the Bo Sox. In 39.2 innings, he has a 2.27 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 27 saves, and 40 strikeouts.

We looked to even the series with Reynaldo Lopez (6-3, 3.79 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) facing Chris Archer (5-3, 2.77 EAR, 1.08 WHIP). We got four quick runs, and won the middle game 8-3.

Lopez went 5, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and he struck out just a pair. Colome made his Orioles debut, an inning with a hit and strike out.

Jose Peraza was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Victor Reyes was 1-for-3 with a homer, 2 walks, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-5 with a double, homer, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Michael A. Taylor was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-5 wiht a run scored and double. Chance Sisco was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, a double, and hit by pitch.

Indians C Yan Gomes was 5-for-5 in a 14-10 win over the Yankees.

July 17th, 2019: Arizona SP Robbie Ray will miss a calender year with a torn labrum. He was 5-4 with a 3.40 ERA with 131 strikeouts in 103.1 innings.

We looked to earn the series win with Kevin Gausman (7-6, 5.22 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) taking on Jacob Faria (4-5, 5.19 ERA, 1.51 WHIP). Tied at zero in the 9th, we got two runs and won the finale 2-0.

Gausman got a no decision, 6 innings with 4 hits, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Blake Treinen got the win, 1.2 innings with a walk. Britton got the hold, 0.1 innings with 2 hits and a walk, before Boone Logan got a double play on the only pitch he threw for his 2nd save.

Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Jose Peraza was 1-for-3 with a double. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Tyler Wade extended his hit streak to 25.

Our road trip continues with four against the White Sox before the All-Star break. We'll see Carson Fulmer (0-0, 2.16 ERA), Lucas Giolito (2-11, 8.90 ERA), Josh Tomlin (4-8, 4.33 ERA), and Lance Lynn (1-0, 5.33 ERA). The only starter we won't see is former Oriole Nathan Eovaldi.

July 18th-July 25th

Real life side note: I really can't comprehend this Machado deal... What an awful return for the Orioles! I know it's better then nothing, but 1 top 20 prospect, 3 lottery tickets, and a minor league journeyman? I know it's OOTP, but man, my return was much, much better. And I'm not personally a fan of Diaz, and I'm pretty sure the Dodgers notice something in him like the Nationals did with Giolito. Oh well, only time will tell...

July 18th, 2019: We opened the last series of the first half at Guaranteed Rate Field with All-Star hopeful Aaron Sanchez (8-5, 2.80 ERA, 0.90 WHIP) facing Carson Fulmer (0-0, 2.16 ERA, 0.96 WHIP). I considered trading for Fulmer (Michael too), but Lopez is the better pitcher. It was a close one, but we edged them 7-5.

Sanchez went 6 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Blake Treinen blew the save and got the win, a hit and a run while striking out the side in the 7th. Jake Diekman and Boone Logan got holds before Zach Britton got the save. Diekman allowed a run off a hit while getting an out.

Cahnce Sisco was 3-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, double, and homer. Anthony Alford was 1-for-5 with a double and RBI. Jose Peraza was 2-for-5 with a run scored, RBI, and steal. Trey Mancini was 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored.

Alex Cobb wil head back to the DL with back tightness...

July 19th, 2019: Shelby Miller (7-6, 3.39 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) took on Lucas Giolito (2-11, 8.90 ERA, 1.79 WHIP) in the second game. We hit five homers in the 15-4 crushing of the Chi Sox.

Miller went 5 innings with 8 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Drew Pomeranz tossed 2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Joakim Soria went 2 innings with a hit, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts.

Nolan Arenado was 3-for-4 with a pair of walks and solo homers. Jonathan Schoop was 3-for-6 with 2 runs and 4 RBI's. Trey Mancini was 3-for-6 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a double, and homer. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-6 with a double and solo homer. Yolmer Sanchez was 3-for-4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and a walk.

Adrian Beltre hit his 500th career home run in a 10-7 Blue Jays win over the Red Sox. He is a career .287/.342/.480 hitter with 1,781 RBI's in 11,635 career at bats.

Tyler Wade's hit streak ended at 26.

July 20th, 2019: Erasmo Ramirez (2-4, 3.86 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) looked to bounce back after a rough start against Josh Tomlin (4-8, 4.33 ERA, 1.24 WHIP). We got six in the fourth, and topped them 7-5.

Ramirez went 5 with 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Alex Colome, Bryan Shaw, Jake Diekman, and Boone Logan got holds and Zach Britton got the save. Britton allowed a run and hit with 2 strikeouts in the 9th.

Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI's. Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Yolmer Sanchez was 1-for-4 with a three run homer. Victor Reyes was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Jose Peraza and Nolan Arenado were both 1-for-4 with a double and run scored.

July 21st, 2019: The 2019 All-Stars were announced today. Representing the Orioles will be SP Aaron Sanchez (1st, technically 2nd, but for some reason the game doesn't register his 2016 All-Star appearence), RP Joakim Soria (4th), CL Zach Britton (3rd), and C Chance Sisco (1st). The only other guyS that could've earned a nod would be Jonathan Schoop (.256/.322/.556, 29 homers, 73 RBI's) and Trey Mancini (.272/.331/.530, 22 homers, 70 RBI's).

The Tigers will be without CL Chasen Shreve for the year wtih a damaged elbow ligament. He was 5-2 with 5 saves and a 3.72 ERA in 38.2 innings.

The Reds sent LHP Matt Grace and SS Travis Odom to the Phillies for RHP Joe Ryan and 1B Jack Zoellner. I like this deal for the Phillies.

We look to finish the sweep to finish the first half with Reynaldo Lopez (7-3, 3.87, ERA, 1.24 WHIP) facing his former team and teammate Lance Lynn (3-0, 3.96 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). We crushed them 10-3 to finish strong before the All-Star break.

Lopez went 5 with 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 9 strikeouts against his former team. Colome, Diekman, and Treinen earned holds. Treinen went 2.1 innings with 2 hits, 3 walks, and a strikeout.

Nolan Arenado was 3-for-5 with a homer, walk, and 2 RBI's. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, a homer, and sac-fly. All-Star Cahnce Sisco was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and a double. Jose Iglesias was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and hit by pitch. Victor Reyes was 2-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a run scored and walk.

We finished the first half 56-40, 3 games out of first and with a 4 game lead for the 2nd Wild Card.

July 22nd, 2019: Jonathan Schoop was named Player of the Week. He hit .438 with 4 homers and 13 RBI's.

We're also all the way up to 2nd in the Power Rankings.

July 23rd, 2019: The All-Star game was today, as the AL saw Shoehi Ohtani (12-3, 2.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) take on the NL and Jose Quintana (15-2, 1.77 ERA, 0.97 WHIP) who is having an insane season. The NL team also looks much better. It took 10 innings, but the AL scored 1 in the top of the 10th to take a 8-7 lead. Sadly, the NL got 5 in the bottom half and they won 12-8.

Zach Britton got the loss, 6 runs in 1.2 innings with 5 hits, 3 walks, and a strikeout. Aaron Sanchez allowed 4 hits and 3 runs in 0.2 innings. Joakim Soria got a hold, but threw just 1 pitch and he got a ground out. Chance Sisco was 1-for-2 with a walk.

July 24th, 2019: I spent today working on trades. I ended up sending pitchers Drew Pomeranz and Lucas Long to the Angels for SS Andrelton Simmons with 45% of his salary retained.

Add another to the list of repeat offendors! Simmons, 29, is controllable until 2020, and as everyone knows, is the best defenisve shortstop currently, and possibly ever. He's a great hitter with great athleticism. He's hitting .284/.318/.362 with 5 homers and 30 RBI's in 387 at bats this year.

I'd most likely add another arm tomorrow.

Down in the GCL, 1B Alex Binelas went 5-for-6 in a 14-5 win over the Yankees West.

July 25th, 2019: I sent SS Jose Iglesias to the Cardinals for SP Miles Mikolas and his entire contract retained.

Mikolas, 30, is eligible for arbitration after this year, and has been great since returning form overseas. This year, he was 7-4 with a 3.48 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 89 strikeouts in 19 starts.

We'll head home to host the Phillies for three games. We'll see Jake Arrieta (7-7, 3.14 ERA), Zack Wheeler (5-6, 5.87 ERA), and Nick Pivetta (6-8, 4.42 ERA).

July 26th-July 31st

July 26th, 2019: In our first game since the All-Star break, Shelby Miller (8-6, 3.56 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) took on Jake Arrieta (7-7, 3.14 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) as we hosted the Phillies with nearly 49,000 people in the stands. We got five in the fifth to take the opener 6-2 to continue our now 7 game win streak.

Miller went 6 with 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Alex Colome tossed 2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and a strike out.

Chance Sisco was 1-for-4 with a three run homer. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and run scored. Jose Peraza was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-3 with a walk, double, and run scored in his first game with the team. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Corey Kluber tossed a 3-hit shutout as the Indians beat the Red Sox 9-0.

July 27th, 2019: The Angels acquired LF Jay Bruce from the Mets for RHP Matt Shoemaker. It's a steal for the Mets, especially considering that Bruce is injured with an uncertain return.

The middle game saw Reynaldo Lopez (8-3, 3.94 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) face Zack Wheeler (5-6, 5.87 ERA, 1.47 WHIP). We didn't have a five run inning, but we won by the same score, 6-2.

Lopez went 7 with 6 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Kevin Gausman came out of the pen, tossing 2 innings with 2 hits, a run, walk, and 3 strikeouts. Not sure who replaced him in the rotation.

Nolan Arenado was 1-for-3 with a two run homer and da walk. Trey Mancini was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, walk, and double. Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored, sac-fly and RBI. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with a steal, walk, and 2 runs scored. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI.

July 28th, 2019: We looked to finish the sweep wtih Erasmo Ramirez (3-4, 4.09 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) facing Nick Pivetta (6-8, 4.42 ERA, 1.32 WHIP). It took 10 innings, but the Phillies edged us 4-3 to salvage the finale.

Ramirez pitched well, 7 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Zach Britton got the loss, 1.1 innings with 2 hits, a run, a walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Lewis Brinson was 3-for-5 with a solo homer. Jonathan Schoop was 3-for-5 wiht an RBI. Nolan Arenado was 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored. Chance Sisco was 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and an RBI.

Angels SP/RF Shoehi Ohtani hit for the cycle in a 18-7 win over the Rangers.

I made a quick traded to boost the lineup, sending 2B Yolmer Sanchez to the Diamondbacks for LF David Peralta.

An impending free agent, Peralta is a solid lefty hitter who plays excellent left field defense. The 31-year-old is hitting .271/.353/.428 wtih 10 homers and 44 RBI's in 339 at bats with the D'Backs.

We're off to New York to face the first place Yankees for three. We'll see Hidetsugu Nakasone (11-4, 3.29 ERA), Nathan Karns (9-3, 3.64 ERA), and Sonny Gray (6-7, 3.94 ERA) before the deadline.

July 29th, 2019: The North Siders sent 1B Victor Caratini and RHP Erich Uelmen to the South Siders for RHP Jacob Turner and 1B Gavin Sheets. It's a fair trade for both teams.

We opened the series with Miles Mikolas (7-4, 3.48 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) making his Baltimore debut against Hidetsugu Nakasone (!1-4, 3.29 ERA, 1.07 WHIP). It was a close one, but we held the Yanks off for a 3-1 series openening win.

Mikolas went 7 innings with 5 hits, a run, and 4 strikeouts. Boone Logan and Zach Britton got holds before Blake Treinen got the save.

David Peralta had a nice debut, 1-for-3 with a solo homer in the 8th. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a walk and steal.

I sent Alex Cobb to Frederick for a rehab assignment.

July 30th, 2019: Aaron Sanchez (8-5, 2.88 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) took on Nathan Karns (9-3, 3.64 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) as we looked for another win. Get this, after the fifth, the game was tied at 1. Fast foward all the way to the 14th, and we put up 7 runs! Yes, 7! It was off reliever Luis Avilan, who the Yanks gave up decent prospects for. They got 1 back in the bottom half, but we won 8-2.

Sanchez went 6, allowing an unearned run with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Yes, all this could have been avoided... The pen was solid, 8 innings with 6 htis, a run, 4 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Kevin Gausman tossed 3.1 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 3 strikeouts to get the win.

Nolan Arenado was 2-for-6 with a three run homer. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-6 with 2 triples, a walk, and a run score.d Jose Peraza was 3-for-6 with a run scored, RBI, and he was 1-for-3 on stolen base attempts. Anthony Alford was 1-for-6 with a walk and two run double.

July 31st, 2019: Happy deadline day!

The Angels acquired 1B Justin Smoak from the Blue Jays for C Kevin Plawecki and RHP Jamie Callahan. I like this deal for the Blue Jays.

We looked to win the sweep with Shelby Miller (9-6, 3.53 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) taking on Sonny Gray (6-7, 3.94 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). We couldn't sweep the first place team, and they edged us 5-3.

Miller allowed 4 in 5 innings with 8 hits, 5 runs, and 4 strikeouts. Jake Diekman got just 1 out and allowed a hit and run.

Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Max Stassi was 2-for-3 with a RBI. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.

We're headed home to face the Twins for four. We'll see Jose Berrios (3-7, 5.99 ERA), and Odrisamer Despaigne (4-2, 5.00 ERA), Wily Peralta (0-1, 6.66 ERA), and Phil Hughes (6-5, 4.04 ERA).

Lopez went 7 with an unearned run, 4 hits, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Boone Logan got just 1 out, allowing 3 hits and 3 runs. Alex Colome got a hold and Zach Britton got a save.

August 4th, 2019: We looked to take the series with Aaron Sanchez (8-5, 2.75 ERA, 0.92 WHIP) facing Phil Hughes (6-5, 4.04 ERA, 1.07 WHIP). The Twins got five in the fifth, and edged us 8-7 in the finale.

Sanchez got the loss, 4.2 innings with 7 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Believe in or not, all the runs in the fifth were unearned, and Alex Colome was charged with 4 of them in an inning and a third with 2 hits, a walk, and a strikeout. Errors man...

Anthony Alford was 3-for-5 wiht 2 runs, an RBI, and a steal. Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-4 with 2 runs and a double. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a steal and run scored. Cahnce Sisco was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-5 with a solo shot. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-4 with a sac-fly and 3 total RBI's. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI.

We get tomorrow off beofre the Rays come to town for two.

August 5th, 2019: With the day off, we get to prepare for a series with the third place Rays. We'd see Blake Snell (4-8, 4.75 ERA) and former Oriole Dylan Bundy (3-6, 5.46 ERA) in a quick series.

August 5th, 2019: We looked to start the short series off on the right foot with Shelby Miller (9-7, 3.69 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) looking for win 10 against Blake Snell (4-8, 4.75 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). Neither team scored in the first 9 innings, but Christian Arroyo had a RBI double off Boone Logan in the 10th to give the Rays a 1-0 win...

Miller did everything he could, 8 innings with 6 hits, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Logan got the loss, an inning with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts.

We had just 3 hits, all singles. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4, Lewis Brinson 1-for-3, and Jonathan Schoop 1-for-4.

August 7th, 2019: A pair of pitchers will be out for the year. Tyler Glasnow of the Pirates has shoulder inflammation while Rockies' righty Scott Oberg tore his flexor tendon.

We needed to finish with a split, as Reynaldo Lopez (10-3, 3.63 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) took on Dylan Bundy (3-6, 5.46 ERA, 1.37 WHIP). Both teams had four run innings, but the Rays finished the quick sweep to get closer to us in the Wild Card with a 8-5 win.

Lopez allowed 4 in 4 off 6 hits, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Kevin Gausman allowed 4 in 2.1 innings with 4 hits, a walk, and a strikeout.

We need to pick things back up, and we're off to Fenway for four with the Red Sox. We'll see David Price (4-6, 4.65 ERA), Eduardo Rodriguez (6-6, 4.98 ERA), Rick Porcello (7-7, 5.52 ERA), and DallS Keuchel (8-6, 4.94 ERA).

August 8th-August 14th

August 8th, 2019: We opened a four game series in Boston with Miles Mikolas (8-4, 3.28 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) facing Daivd Price (4-6, 4.65 ERA, 1.44 WHIP). Despite taking an early 3-0 lead, the Red Sox won the opener 8-4.

It wasn't all Mikolas' fault, allowing 5 runs (2 earned) in 4.2 innings with 5 hits, 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez allowed 3 runs in 2.1 innings off 3 hits, a walk, and a strikeout.

Anthony Alford was 2-for-3 with 2 homers, 3 RBI's, and a walk. David Peralta was 1-for-3 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Victor Reyes, Trey Mancini, Lewis Brinson, Chance Sisco, and Andrelton Simmons were all 1-for-4.

August 9th, 2019: Today's game got rained out, so we'd play two tomorrow. I'd have to callup a spot starter, likely Max Fried, to start one of the games.

August 10th, 2019: Before the game, I DFA'd Erasmo Ramirez to teomparily make room for Max Fried. Fried (2-2, 4.26 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) would start game one of the double header against Eduardo Rodriguez (6-6, 4.98 ERA, 1.36 WHIP). It was a close one, but the Red Sox edged us 3-1 as our losing streak extedned to 5...

Fried allowed 5 hits and 3 runs in 4 innings with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. Alex Colome tossed 2.1 innings with just 1 hit.

Lewis Brinson was 1-for-2 with a steal snd 2 walks. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI.

Fried will head back down to AAA and Ramirez will rejoin the roster.

Game two took place between Aaron Sanchez (8-6, 2.85 ERA, 0.94 WHIP) and Rick Porcello (7-7, 5.52 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). Sanchez has now improved to a 4.5* and has slowly climbed up in star rating since the Machado trade. The Red Sox have now won 9 in a row, and beat us 4-2 as we can't even buy a win...

Sanchez allowed 2 runs in 6 innings off 7 hits, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Boone Logan got the loss, walking the only batter he faced, who eventually scored. Blake Trienen allowed a run in the 8th off 2 hits.

David Peralta was 2-for-4 with a double. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a double. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer.

August 11th, 2019: We really, really, really, needed to win to avoid the four game sweep and stop our skid. Shelby Miller (9-7, 3.45 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) looked to get his 10th win and prevent 10 straight for the Red Sox and Dallas Keuchel (8-6, 4.94 ERA, 1.32 WHIP). Down 4-2 headed into the 8th, we cut the deficit to 4-3 before heading into the 9th. Jonathan Schoop hit a solo homer off Justin Wilson to tie the game at 4 to fource extra innings. In the 10th, Chance Sisco hit an RBI double off former Oriole Kelvin Herrera, and we finally won a game.

Miller didn't do too well, 5 innings with 4 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. The pen tossed 5 innings with just 1 hit, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Zach Britton got the win, an inning with a walk and 2 strikeotus. Erasmo Ramirez got the save, a perfect 10th with a strikeout.

Schoop pwas just 1-for-4 with the game tieing homer. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a double and solo homer. Chance Sisco was 2-for-5 with 2 doubles, a run, and an RBI. Trey Mancini was 1-for-5 with a solo homer. David Peralta had a pinch hit double in the 10th and scored the go ahead run. Victor Reyes was 2-for-5.

Our road trip continues with three in Detroit. The last place Tigers would send Daniel Norris (3-6, 4.96 ERA), Gregory Soto (5-8, 4.96 ERa), and Matt Boud (1-6, 5.60 ERA) to the mound.

August 12th, 2019: I placed minor leaguer Chris Lee on the 60-Day DL with a torn rotator cuff. Likely not to pitch next season either, I can't see him surviving on the roster.

I also expected the power rankings to be announced, but I didn't get an email about it...

Anyways, we started the series in Detroit with Reynaldo Lopez (10-4, 3.80 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) facing Greogry Soto (5-8, 4.96 ERA, 1.46 WHIP). It was a back and forth game, but we managed to win the opener 7-4.

Lopez got the win, 5 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, and 5 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez and Boone Logan got holds before Zach Britton converted his 25th save in 25 attempts. Ramirez was charged with a run and 3 hits with a strikeout in 2 innings.

Chance Sisco was 3-for-4 anda triple away from the cycle. He scored twice and drove in 3 runs. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored and a solo homer. Victor Reyes was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jose Peraza was 1-for-2 with a steal and two walks. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI's and a sac-fly.

August 13th, 2019: Mets SP Rafael Montero is out for the year with a damaged elbow ligament. He was 3-1 with a 5.35 ERA in 7 starts.

Dodgers RHP Ross Stripling is out for the rest of the year and most of next season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He was 7-6 with a 4.08 ERA in 68.1 innings with 68 strikeouts and 16 walks.

The middle game saw Kevin Gausman (8-6, 5.05 ERA, 1.44 WHIP) return to the rotation against Daniel Norris (3-6, 4.96 ERA, 1.57 WHIP). It wasn't pretty, and they crushed us 10-4.

Gausman was charged with 10 hits, 7 runs (4 earned), and 2 walks with just 2 strikeouts. Alex Colome got a strikeout, but allowed 2 hits, 3 runs, and a walk.

Lewis Brinson was 2-for-3 with a walk, 2 runs, and a solo homer. Trey Mancini was 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk. Jonathan Shcoop was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Anthony Algord was 1-for-4 with a walk and double.

Tigers LF Adam Frazier was 5-for-5.

Braves SP Shane Carle tossed a 5-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over the Marlins.

August 14th, 2019: The Dodgers will be without another pitcher, SP Charlie Morton, for the year with a damaged elbow ligament. In 13 starts, he was 2-5 with a 5.80 ERA and 39 strikeouts.

Miles Mikolas (8-5, 3.30 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) faced Matt Boyd (1-6, 5.60 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) in the finale. Considering we are much better then them, we really need this win. The offense agreed, and we crushed them 10-1 to win the first series in what seems like forever.

Mikolas was brilliant, 7.1 innings with 5 hits, a run, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez finished the game, 1.2 innings with a strikeout.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-3 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, a walk, hit by pitch, sac-bunt, and a home run. Andrelton Simmons was 3-for-5 with a steal, run scored, and RBI. Chance Sisco was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, and an RBI. Victor Reyes was 2-for-5 wiht a run scored, 3 RBI's, and a double. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with a double. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, and a walk.

After the rough road trip, we'll head home to face the AL West leading Astros for four games. We'll face Lance McCullers Jr. (6-8, 4.14 ERA), Gerrit Cole (7-10, 5.21 ERA), Justin Verlander (7-4, 4.69 ERA), and J.B. Bukauskas (0-1, 3.86 ERA).

August 15th-August 22nd

August 15th, 2019: We opened the four game set with the Astros in a nice ace-off: Aaron Sanchez (8-6, 2.86 ERA, 0.97 WHIP) against Lance McCullers Jr. (6-8, 4.14 ERA, 1.39 WHIP). Tied at 1, the game was force to go into extras. In the 10th, Marwin Gonzalez hit a two run homer off Zach Britton, and the Astros took the opener 3-1.

Sanchez was great, 8 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 7 strikeouts. Britton pitched 1.1 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, and he struck out 2.

Anthony Alford was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI, and walk. Victor Reyes was 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Both Chnace Sisco and Nolan Arenado were 1-for-4 with walks and doubles.

Mariners SP Mike Foltynewicz tossed a 6-hit shut out in a 8-0 win over the Angels.

August 16th, 2019: Game two saw Shelby Miller (9-7, 3.60 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) take on Gerrit Cole (7-10, 5.21 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). We got three early runs, and never gave up the lead, winning 6-3.

Miller got the win, 6 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Jake Diekman and Blake Treinen got holds before Boone Logan got the save. Treinen struck out 3 in 1.2 innings.

Trey Mancini was 3-for-4 with a three run homer in the first. Jonathan Schoop was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-4 with a double. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored.

August 17th, 2019: We looked to take the series lead with Reynlado Lopez (11-4, 3.87 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) taking on 21-year-old rookie Forrest Whitley (0-1, 1.80 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) who just came off the DL. Marwin Gonzalez had another great game, and the Astros beat us 7-5.

Lopez went 6 with 7 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Boone Logan fell to 1-7 on the year, allowing 2 hits, a walk, and 3 runs without getting an out. He's been terrible all year, and has a 6.35 ERA, although I deserved this when I signed someone with a 10.65 ERA and 2.35 WHIP in the previous season. But man is his stuff good, still 12.7 K/9.

Jonathan Schoop was 3-for-5 with a double and run scored. Andrelton Simmons was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and a run scored. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. David Peralta was 2-for-4 with a sac bunt and 2 runs scored. Chance Sisco was 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and an RBI.

Giants 3B Evan Longroia hit his 300th career homer in a 14-4 loss to the Nationals. He's having a nice year, hitting .283 with 17 homers and 60 RBI's.

August 18th, 2019: Blue Jays RHP Nick Rumbelow is out for the year with radinal nerve compression. He has a 5.40 ERA and a 3-1 record with the Mariners and Blue Jays.

We looked to earn the split with Kevin Gausman (8-7, 5.11 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) facing the washed up Justin Verlander (7-4, 4.69 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) whose ratings look more like a AA journeyman then Cy Young winner. We did most of the scoring off the pen, and won the finale 10-5 with help from a 5 run 7th.

Gausman went 7.1 innings, allowing 8 hits, 4 runs, and he struck out 4. Erasmo Ramirez tossed 1.2 innings with 3 strikeouts.

Trey Mancini was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, and a homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with 3 RBI's, a double, and sac-fly. David Peralta was 1-for-4 with 2 runs, a solo homer, and sac-bunt. Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-4 with an RBI and steal. Victor Reyes was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, an RBI, and a steal. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a steal and run scored. Chance Sisco was 1-fr-3 wiht a run scored, RBI, and 2 walks.

We get tomorrow off before the Yankees come to town for three.

August 19th, 2019: The Power Rankings are back, and we're up to 7th. At 67-52, we are 7.5 games out of first, but we have a 3.5 game lead in the Wild Card.

The Yankees head to town, and we'll see Mashiaro Tanaka (9-4, 4.76 ERA), Hidetsugu Nakasone (12-6, 3.48 ERA), and Nathan Karns (10-4, 4.54 ERA).

August 20th, 2019: Miles Mikolas (9-5, 3.19 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) opened the series against Mashiaro Tanaka (9-4, 4.76 ERA, 1.22 WHIP). Both starters spent time in the Nippon Professional League. We gave the Yanks there 45th loss of the year and won the opener 7-3.

Zach Britton left with a strained shoulder, and will head to the DL...

Mikolas was great, 7 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. The pen tossed 2 innings with a hit and 4 strikeouts, although I'm really pissed Britton pitched in a non-save situation...

Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a two run homer and a double. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a three run homer. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. David Peralta was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Chance Sisco was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, a double, and a walk. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-4 with a double.

After placing Britton on the DL, I recalled Cobb from his rehab assignment.

August 21st, 2019: We looked to take the series a game early with Aaron Sanchez (8-6, 2.77 ERA, 0.95 WHIP) facing Hidetsugu Nakasone (12-6, 3.48 ERA, 1.11 WHIP). Both pitchers have done well against the opponent, Sanchez 1-1 with a 0.45 ERA and Nakasone 1-1 with a 1.96 ERA. We scored early and often, and won 11-3.

In his first game back, Alex Cobb got injured...

Sanchez was solid, 6.1 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Cobb allowed a run in an inning with a hit, walk, and strikeout. Erasmo Ramirez went 1.2 innings with 2 strikeouts.

Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a sac-fly, 2 doubles, a run scored, and 2 RBI's. Andrelton Simmons was 3-for-5 with a double, homer, and 4 RBI's. Nolan Arenado was 3-for-5 with a two run homer and 3 total RBI's. Victor Reyes was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, an RBI, and 2 walks. Trey Mancini was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Chance Sisco was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and a walk.

August 22nd, 2019: Alex Cobb will miss the rest of the year with bone chips in his elbow. I recalled Ryan Burr from AAA.

We looked to finish the sweep with Reynaldo Lopez (11-4, 3.96 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Nathan Karns (10-4, 4.54 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). Lopez allowed just 1 hit, and we shut out the "unbeatable" Yankees 4-0. I kid, but I didn't even think we'd win more then 1 game, let alone sweep after how awful we've played recently.

Lopez got every out except 1, tossing 8.2 innings with just 1 hit, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts while throwing 108 pitched. With just 2 more, Joakim Soria got a ground out to end the game.

Nolan Arenado was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and 2-run double. Jose Peraza was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-2 with a walk and run scored. David Peralta was 1-for-3 with a run scored, walk, and RBI.

We cut the deficit to 4.5 games, and we finish our homestand with three against the Blue Jays in a bird battle before an off day. We'll see Marcus Stroman (8-6, 4.23 ERA), Tyler Anderson (5-7, 6.19 ERA), and Robert Stephenson (4-10, 9.23 ERA).

August 23rd-August 28th

August 23rd, 2019: We opened up the series hosting the Blue Jays with Shelby Miller (10-7, 3.63 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) taking on Marcus Stroan (8-6, 4.23 ERA, 1.47 WHIP) who is 2-0 with a 5.17 ERA against us. Schoop is just 1-for-19 against him since 2018. Tied at two, Stroman was still in the game in the 9th. Trey Mancini hit a walk-off single and we won the opener 3-2.

Boone Logan left with an injury. Not the biggest lost if we are being honest.

Miller went 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeout. The pen tossed 4.2 scorless innings with just 1 hit, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.

David Peralta was 2-for-3 with a double, walk, and he scored the winning run. Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with the game winnin RBI. Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-2 with a run scored and steal. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a double, hit by pitch, run scored, and RBI.

August 24th, 2019: Boone Logan tore his flexor tendon, and will miss 11 months. The 35-year-old is not likely to recieve a contract after he files for free agency at the end of the year. I recalled LHP Aaron Bummer from AAA.

We looked to win the series a day early with Kevin Gausman (9-7, 5.17 ERA, 1.46 WHIP) facing Tyler Anderson (5-7, 6.19 ERA, 1.63 WHIP), who we put up a ton of runs against. Down 4-1, we got three in the 9th to force extras. In the 12th, Lewis Brinson had a walk-off ground out agaisnt former Oriole Will Harris.

Gausman allowed 5 hits and 4 runs in 6 innings with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Bryan Shaw struck out the side in the 7th. Ryan Burr made his big league debit, an inning with a strikeout. In total, the pen tossed 6 hitless innings with a single walk and 8 strikeouts.

Victor Reyes was 3-for-5 with a double, walk, run scored, and steal. David Peralta hit a pinch hit two run homer in the 9th. Trey Mancini was 1-for-5 with a solo homer. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-4 with an RBI, 2 walks, and a double. Anthony Alford was 1-for-5 with a walk, double, and run scored. Michael A. Taylor was 1-for-3 with a run scored and 2 walks.

Royals SP Trevor Oaks tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over the Indians.

August 25th, 2019: We looked to finish the sweep with Miles Mikolas (10-5, 3.22 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) battling Colin McHugh (1-4, 8.38 ERA, 1.91 WHIP). No walkoff magic today, and were topped 2-1.

Mikolas pitched well, 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Both Alex Colome and Bryan Shaw struck out the side with a hit and walk.

Mariners 3B Kyle Seager was 5-for-6 in a 10-9 win over the Diamondbacks. His teammate LaMonte Wade was also 5-for-6.

Tomorrow is a day off before we head to New York to play the Mets in a two game series.

August 26th, 2019: Brothers Kyle and Corey Seager were named AL and NL Player of the Week, in what I would think is the first time brothers won Player of the Week in the same week.

Former Oriole and current Cub Jeremy Jeffress is out for the year with a torn rotator cuff, although he should be ready for Opening Day. He had a 3.64 ERA in 47 innings with 33 strikeouts.

We moved up a spot to 6th in the Power Rankings, and sit at 72-53, good for fourth best in the AL.

Headed to the Big Apple, we'd face Matt Shoemaker (6-10, 5.54 ERA) and Chris Flexen (1-2, 4.94 ERA).

August 27th, 2019: I claimed my former utility man Erick Gonzalez off waivers from the Brewers. He'd stay DFA'd until rosters expand.

Another former Oriole, former reliever Brad Brach, is out for the year with shoulder inflammation. In 72 appearences, he struck out 76 hitters in 57.2 innings, but with a 5.31 ERA.

Fresh off an off day, ace Aaron Sanchez (9-6, 2.77 ERA, 0.96 WHIP) took on Matt Shoemaker (6-10, 5.54 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). We scored early and often and won the opener 7-2.

Sanchez was great, 6.1 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Ryan Burr tossed 2 perfect innings with a strikeout.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-5 with a two run homer. Anthony Alford was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles, a walk, run scored, and RBI. David Peralta was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Chance Sisco was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

August 28th, 2019: Carlos Rodon will head to A+ Frederick to begin a rehab assignment.

White Sox lefty Jaime Garcia is out for the year with a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. Chances are, the veteran will not play at all next year either. He was 10-1, but had a 5.55 ERA in 82.2 innings with 66 strikeouts with the Dodgers and Sox.

We looked to finish the quick sweep with Reynaldo Lopez (12-4, 3.72 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) taking on Chris Flexen (1-2, 4.94 ERA, 1.79 WHIP). It was a tight one with late scoring, but we held them off 3-2.

Lopez got the win, 7.2 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 8 strikeouts. Bummer and Blake Treinen got holds while Joakim Soria got the save. Treinen allowed a solo homer with a walk and strike out.

Nolan Arenado was 2-for-4 with a pair of double and an RBI. David Peralta was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Trey Mancini was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and a walk.

Cubs lefty Jose Quintana continues his histroic season with a 3-hit shutout against the Reds. Twins CF Zack Granite extended his hit streak to 20 games.

We get tomorrow off before heading to Tampa to finish August and start September.

August 29th-September 4th

August 29th, 2019: We got the day off today before heading to Tampa for three. We'll see Dylan Bundy (4-6, 5.08 ERA), Brent Honeywell (9-4, 3.32 ERA), and Jacob Faria (4-9, 5.09 ERA).

August 30th, 2019: We opened the series with Shelby Miller (10-7, 3.63 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) facing former Oriole Dylan Bundy (4-6, 5.08 ERA, 1.31 WHIP). Up 6-5, Jake Bauers hit a solo homer off Blake Treinen to tie the game up. Fast foward to the 12th, Nolan Arenado hit a RBI single off Zack Petrick to give us a 7-6 lead we wouldn't give up.

Joakim Soria got the win, 1.1 innings with a hit and 3 strikeouts. Aaron Bummer got a hold, getting a 2-pitch fly out before Alex Colome got an 8-pitch strikeout to get the save.

August 31st, 2019: Zach Britton will head on a "rehab" assignment to AAA. I'd bring him back up tomorrow.

Angels' SP Alex Meyer will be out for the year with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. In 19 starts, he's 4-6 with a 3.94 ERA.

The middle game took place between Miles Mikolas (10-6, 3.22 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) and the screwball artist Brent Honeywell (9-4, 3.32 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). We tried coming back in the 9th, but the Rays evened the series with a 6-5 win.

Mikolas allowed 6 hits and 3 runs in 5 innings with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jake Diekman got the loss, a walk, hit, and run, without getting an out. Bryan Shaw also failed to get an out, allowing a walk, hit, and two runs.

Mariners RF Mitch Haniger increased his hit streak to 20 games.

September 1st, 2019: Yankees C Gary Sanchez is out for the rest of the year with a herniated disc. While the Yankees are almost a lock for the playoffs, this will hurt them in the postseason. He was hitting .262 with 24 homers and 60 RBI's.

Chance Sisco was named Rookie of the Month (and I got the matching achievement) for August. He hit .333 with 5 homers and 13 RBI's.

The Texas Rangers have been eliminated from the playoffs. At 38-92, they are 38.5 games out of first, and will go another year without winning a World Series.

The minor league seasons almost all end on the 9th, but I made a few callups today. I added Erik Gonzalez who was recently claimed first, then recalled Zach Britton from his rehab assignment. I also recalled both Mychal Givens and Donnie Hart from AAA.

We opened September looking to finish the series with a win. Aaron Sanchez (19-6, 2.72 ERA, 0.96 WHIP) battled Jacob Faria (4-9, 5.09 ERA, 1.55 WHIP) in the rubber match. It was a nice pitching match, and we edged them 4-2.

Sanchez went 7 with 3 hits, a run, a walk, and 9 strikeouts. Zach Britton allowed a run in an inning with 2 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Blake Treinen got the save, an inning with 2 strikeotus.

September 2nd, 2019: Athletics SP Norge Ruiz will miss the rest of the year with a torn meniscus. He was 0-2 with a 8.56 ERA.

We moved up to 5th in the Power Rankings. At 76-54, we're now just 3.5 games out of first with a 5.5 game lead over the Rays for the 1st Wild Card spot.

We opened the series with Kevin Gausman (9-7, 5.21 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) facing Drew Smyly (4-6, 4.00 ERA, 1.39 WHIP). It was a close one, but they edged us 4-3.

Gausman went 4.2 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez tossed 3.1 perfect mop up innings with 2 strikeouts.

Anthony Alford was 1-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-4 with a double. Max Stassi was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and hit by pitch. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-3 with a walk.

The Tigers won 5-3...

Chance Sisco bruised his shin, and weill miss maybe 3 games after getting hit by a pitch.

Lopez allowed 5 runs in 5 innings with 4 hits, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Five relievers combined for 4 innings with a hit, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts.

Trey Mancini was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored. Lewis Brinson was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-4. Daivd Peralta was 1-for-4 with a walk and steal.

Dodgers 1B Cody Bellinger hit a three run homer in a 10-3 win over the Rockies. Twins CF Zack Granite's hit streak was ended at 24 games. Mariners RF Mitch Haniger's hit streak was ended at 21.

September 4th, 2019: We looked to avoid the embarassing home sweep against an awful team with Shelby Miller (10-7, 3.68 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) taking on Gregory Soto (5-10, 5.25 ERA, 1.50 WHIP). Despite being down 3-0 early, we tied it in the bottom of the 1st, and then scored 7 in the fourth and eventually cruised to a 15-4 win to avoid the sweep.

Miller went 6 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Mychal Givens got a 3 inning save, 3 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts.

September 5th-September 11th

September 5th, 2019: We opened a series hosting the Indians with Miles Mikolas (10-6, 3.29 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) taking on Robert Zarate (1-3, 7.82 ERA, 1.82 WHIP). It was a close one, but they edged us 2-1.

Mikolas pitched well, 5 innings with 5 hits, a run, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Blake Treinen got the loss, an inning with a hit, run scored, and 4 strikeouts. Yep, he struck out four hitters in the 9th...

Jose Peraza was 1-for-4 with a triple and run scored. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a walk.

September 6th, 2019: We looked to bounce back with Aaron Sanchez (11-6, 2.66 ERA, 0.94 WHIP) taking on Carlos Carrasco (10-5, 3.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). It took 11 innings today to lose a one run game, as they edged us 4-3.

Sanchez was great, 6 innings with 6 hits, a run, and 8 strikeouts. Jake Diekman allowed 2 runs and 2 hits in 0.2 innings with a strikeout. Treinen got another loss, an inning with a hit and run.

Anthony Alford was 4-for-5 with a double, 2 runs scored, and a steal. David Peralta was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. Trey Mancini was 2-for-5.

September 7th, 2019: We really needed to bounce back with Kevin Gausman (9-8, 5.30 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) taking on Trevor Bauer (14-6, 3.84 ERA, 1.21 WHIP). Down 4-3 heading into the 9th, we managed to tie the game up to force extras. In the bottom of the 10th, David Peralta faced Tyler Olson, and hit a walk-off grand slam as we got our first win of the series 8-4.

Gausman went 5 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 9 strikeouts. Alex Colome was charged with 2 runs in 1.1 innings with 3 hits and a strikeout. Erasmo Ramirez got the win, throwing just 2 pitched to get 3 outs. Pretty efficent.

Peralta had a monster game, a triple away from the cycle and 3-for-5 with 6 RBI's. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-5 with a solo homer and 2 runs scored. Andrelton Simmons was 3-for-5 with a double and 3 runs scored. Cahnce Sisco was 1-for-4 with a double. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-3 with a walk and hit by pitch. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a walk and RBI. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and 3 walks.

I got the achievement "Grand Salami" for Peralta's home run.

Septemebr 8th, 2019: We looked to salvage the series with a split as Reynaldo Lopez (!3-5, 3.77 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) got Cody Anderson (8-3, 4.89 ERA, 1.45 WHIP). The Indians got 4 in the 8th to take the finale 7-3.

Lopez allowed 6 runs in 7.1 innings with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Alex Colome allowed 2 hits and a run without getting an out.

Peralta was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Chance Sisco was 1-for-4 with a double. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 witha doule and RBI. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and run scored. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-3 with a walk and steal.

Astros RF Kyle Tucker was 5-for-5 in a 12-6 win over the Royals. The 22-year-old looks like a Rookie of the Year finalist.

We're off to Oakland for three against the A's, where we'll see Daniel Mengden (9-13, 4.91 ERA), Miguel Gonzalez (5-11, 6.36 ERA), and Sean Manea (10-7, 3.33 ERA).

September 9th, 2019: Down in AAA, Steve Wilkerson was named Player of the Week. He was 10-for-10 with 3 homers and 8 RBI's.

White Sox SP and former Oriole Nathan Eovaldi tore his ulnar collateral ligament, and will likely miss all of next year. He was 6-12 with a 5.73 combined ERA with us and the Sox.

At 78-59, we're now 4.5 games out of first and dropped all the way down to 10th in the Power Rankings.

We opened the series in Oakland with Shelby Miller (11-7, 3.77 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) taking on Daniel Medgden (0-13, 4.91 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). It was close, but we continued a rough stretch with a 7-5 loss.

Miller went 5.2 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Mychal Givens got the loss, 3 runs and 3 hits in 0.2 innings. Joakim Soria went 0.2 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts.

Jonathan Schoop was 3-for-5 with 2 runs and 2 doubles, as well as an RBI. Trey Mancini was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-5 with 2 runs and 2 doubles. Anthony Alford was 1-for-5 with a solo homer. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-3 with a walk.

September 10th, 2019: The Cincinnati Reds were eliminated from participating in the playoffs. AT 53-85, they are 39.5 games behind the Cubs.

I made a few callups before the game. Austin Hays, Pedro Araujo, Lucas Sims, and Brandon Lowe.

We really needed to even the series with Miles Mikolas (10-6, 3.24 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) facing Miguel Gonzalez (5-11, 6.36 ERA, 1.59 WHIP). Both Brandon Lowe and Austin Hays were in the lineup, with Lowe making his big league debut. We got five in the first, including a Lowe 2-run homer in his first at bat, and won the middle game 8-4.

Mikolas went 6.2 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Soria got a hold, 1.1 innings wiht a hit and strikeout to lower his ERA to 1.15.

Lowe had a debut to remember, 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a walk, 2 doubles, and a homer. Hays was 1-for-4 with a run scored in his return to the bigs. Victor Reyes was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, an RBI, walk, a steal, and double. Trey Mancini was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Erick Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI.

September 11th, 2019: I sent LHP Josh Hader to AAA on a rehab assignment and recalled Ryan Meisinger.

Mets 3B Todd Frazier broke his kneecap, and may be out until Spring Training. He's an impending free agent.

The Tigers have been eliminated from the playofs. At 54-86, they trail Cleveland by 32.5 games.

We looked to win the series with Aaron Sanchez (!1-6, 2.62 ERA, 0.95 WHIP) taking on Sean Manaea (10-7, 3.33 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). They put up 5 in the 7th in the 9-0 shutout. Manea went the distance, allowing just 6 hits and a walk with 5 strikeouts.

Sanchez had a rough outing, 6 innings with 7 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Jake Diekman allowed 3 runs off 2 hits in 2 innings with a walk and 2 strikeouts.

Nolan Arenado was 2-for-4. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a double, but he grounded into two double plays. Anthony Alford was 1-for-3 with a walk. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-3 with a steal.

We have just a 1 game lead on the first Wild Card, and will thankfully get tomorrow off to regroup. Hopefully, recalling Carlos Rodon from rehab will help with that.
