Unable to begin a game in Challenge Mode

Hi there - I've recently downloaded the most recent update (18.7, etc.) and am unable to begin a new game in Challenge Mode.

Perhaps it is worth noting that I am playing on a Mac.

When I click "New Standard Game" I am given the option to play in Challenge Mode, to which I say "Yes." When I get to the choose my team screen, it is clear that I am not in Challenge Mode, as I maintain the option to operate as commissioner.

I would love to play in challenge mode!

Never mind, your screenshot shows you are logged in.

This happens if you have a old default.tpl file in your \world_templates folder.

The game checks if the build matches the build number in the template, and if it does not, CM is unavailable. This is an intentional behavior, to prevent cheating.

A full uninstall/reinstall should fix it. Or you might try the following:

After starting the game, go to Game Settings > Troubleshooting > Force game data re-installation.

I attempted to "Force Game Data Re-Installation" but recieved the error message: "An error occurred. Unable to install the patches."

Any ideas on how I should proceed? Thank you for your direction.

Can you try a full uninstall/reinstall?
