Best time to schedule fall rookie draft + rookie league?

I know in several ways it's more realistic to draft rookies in the summer, but I prefer being able to set the draft order based on win-loss records for the entire season and then draft based on that order ASAP. Problem is, in leagues with signing bonuses, negotiations (especially for top prospects) can take so long as to delay a prospect's entry into rookie league ball. I expect that this will always be a problem, but I'd be happy with it being an issue mostly for players with really high greed ratings.

Anyway, how much time would you space out between the rookie draft and the start of rookie league play?

For my game, I have both the Amateur and Rule-5 draft in December, and my rookie league start date is early April, thus wrapping up about 2/3rd of the way through AA ball (I only have R, AA, and ML). I believe that the signing period for draftees is about 2 months, so if you set the draft date to (say) 2.5 months before whenever you start rookie ball that would ensure all the signings are done in time.

IRL, in Japan the Draft is in December, to coincide with the school year.

Hope that helps!

Maybe combined both Drafts. I will do it in Offseason so Trades can be in it.

load up a default game and see how many weeks they put inbetween?

i think the game puts about 2 maybe 3 weeks in there. they've probably put some thought into it or at least over time it evolved into that gap and/or they changed other things to fit that gap if like RL... etc etc.. That's likey to work very well.

I've put the draft in October, November, and January. They all worked, but I enjoyed doing it around the beginning of the new year, and have Rookie league start shortly after Majors.
