fictional player in a historical replay
Hi there — I'm trying to figure out how to do a historical replay with authentic rosters and transactions (but not lineups), and insert a fictional person into the history.
For example, I'd like to start in the mid-1970s, and basically make myself into a new superstar member of the Boston Red Sox. I'd play alongside Yaz and Rice and so on. But when I do this, my fictional guy gets injured a lot (13-month bereavement seems popular), and then he was automatically retired during the first off season. What do I need to do to make this fantasy come true? |

How, exactly, are you adding yourself into the game?
One option to explore would be to edit the player (enable Commish mode, then edit the player) and change his injury rating. It kinda sounds as though there's something in the game itself that's limiting your fictional player though, based on the "13-month bereavement seems popular" comment. If that's the case, there's probably nothing that could be done about that.

Maybe you have it set to exclude "all those who did not make it to the majors"? That might be causing the early retirement.
