I started a custom league and started the initial draft. The game will not let me draft a skater. I try to draft one, and a box comes up saying "Please select a Goalie!"

Same thing
Same thing happened to me, first two picks had to be goalies while all the other teams were soaking up the top defensemen

yeah, that's happening to everyone. Not a bad choice to draft a goalie first, but certainly not good selecting two goalies in first two picks

In historical mode on July 10, 1993, it says the draft is happening, but says it will take place on July 10, 1994, and then won't let me draft or move to the next day. Only way to move past was to resign from my team and move to next day and then rehire myself.

my biggest struggle with the game is not knowing if players are playing up to their rated ability. Jeff, I really would like to know how we are suppose to know this as I'm having some difficulty being a longtime EHM player that I am (used to the AvgRtg)

I don't like average rating. Its not a real statistic, take your +/-, points, wins/losses and determine the avg rating for your own player.
I think being able to determine that will be the difference in this game. But to each their own I guess |

In fact, even a first-line offensive player can have his performance misrepresented by stats. For example, if you look at Max Pacioretty's stats from the past 2 seasons, you'd see that his points-per-game went up and be inclined to think that he must have played better this season than last. But, I think if you were to ask most Hab fans who watched him play this season, they'd tell you he played worse than the previous year. |

Ruopp's a typo, there was an extra number at the end of his cap hit so it was in the 5-millions instead of the 500,000's. Perron-Paajarvi got missed, I'll get that updated.

If the playoff format doesn't fit the league (e.g., too many teams), it won't start. There are also a number of settings in the playoff rules that could cause it to go wrong; there'll be proper documentation of all of them in the manual at release, but it's not ready yet, so configuring the custom leagues is going to be a challenge for a while.

Yeah, something's broken in the way the draft rules are coded, the goalie choice should apply to all teams, not just the user's. We'll get it fixed.

Eventually, yes. Major revisions before release, no. I agree that it's not fantastic at the moment, but there are more urgent priorities in the next few weeks. But we'll continue working at it, and I think a complete overhaul will be in order for next year. We can do a lot more to minimize the clicking and other busy-work.

I want to get that stuff in, but we're not going to put aside urgent pre-release work for it. SI was apparently getting hundreds of tweets an hour at one point from the twitter integration in Football Manager, that's some pretty nice free advertising.

I keep getting invalid database version whenever I try to start a new game for all options. Regular, historical and custom. Tried running in administrator mode, didn't work.
