Wild Card Tie Breaker Never Works Properly
Hello, long time OOTP fan. This has been bugging me for years and I keep expecting it to be fixed but it never gets fixed.
Every single time there is a 3-team tie for a Wild Card this scenario happens: 1. Teams A & B get chosen to play since they come before Team C in the alphabet. 2. Whichever team wins between Team A & Team B is now a 1/2 game ahead of Team C in the standings so Team C never even gets a chance to play for their spot. This game is so incredibly detailed and realistic I find it hard to believe that the developers cannot get the Wild Card tiebreaker to work but I feel like I've been dealing with this issue for the last 10 OOTPs! I did read a previous thread where someone mentioned adding the extra game manually to the schedule but that just scares me that I'll screw something up. It shouldn't be necessary for me to add games to get the tie breaker to work. Thanks for any input! |

Have you checked this recently? We made strides this year to fix up some cases, and this one should definitely work correctly now. If you can point us to a league running a recent version where this does not work, we can further investigate.

Thanks for your reply. I am playing on the 18.7.72 version so basically the newest version. I will upload my league as a zip to the FTP now.
The most recent example would be 2030: Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Washington all tie for the 2nd Wildcard spot at 82-20. Atlanta beats Milwaukee in a tiebreaker game and then moves on to the Wildcard round. Washington does not play again. It did work properly in 2032 when there was a tie for the NL Central between Pittsburgh and Milwaukee who were both also tied with Atlanta for the 2nd WC spot. Pittsburgh won putting them at 89-74 and Milwaukee at 88-75 but the game still knew to have Atlanta (88-74) and Milwaukee face in another tie breaker. Whatever makes it work in that double tiebreaker scenario doesn't seem to work in the single tiebreaker scenario. |
