1883 Schedule Messed Up
Hi,
Started in 1871 everything has been working as planned. However in 1882 the schedule is now messed up. In 1883 league started in Feb and was completed by mid-July. Why is that and how do I correct this so I can continue with this league. What did I do wrong? |

Yep I checked and mine says the same. League suppose to start April first but for the last 2 season has started at end of February with season ending by one in mid July. Is my league corrupt and what did I do wrong?

Do you have automatic league evolution on? If not, then the game may not be automatically adjusting the length of the seasons. In 1883, the NL had a 98-game season. If your settings are still stuck at 60 games (the length of the 1876 season), then the game is creating a 60-game schedule rather than using the 1883 historical schedule.

This particular schedule was messed up in OOTP 16 and 17 as well IIRC. I do not know if anyone is minding the OOTP schedule store anymore but if anyone is a fix is in order. I'd PM LukasBerger on this.
Go back to your previous back up and then go into the schedule screen and create a fictional one.

I had the same thing happen in 1875. Just played the schedule and moved on. 60 games and done with season by the first of June.

If you guys are playing the way OOTP sets MLB up to play in the 19th century (different from how it happened IRL), I've got some schedules that could help get you through it. Lemme know if you want 'em and I'll upload 'em to this thread. They're all spread over 182 days, which is six months. I have scheds for 30 games for 2 subleagues with four teams in each subleague as well as 50 games, 60 games and 84 games with the same setup. I also have scheds for 84 games, 98 games, 112 games, 126 games, 132 games, 140 games, 154 games, and 162 games with an 8 teams in each subleague format and no divisions.
I play without divisions in all my games, so I also have scheds for 162 games for 10 teams in subleague #1/8 teams in subleague #2 (how it was in 1961), 10 teams in each subleague, 12 teams in each subleague, 14 teams in subleague #1/12 teams in subleague #2, 14 teams in each subleague, and 14 teams in subleague #1/16 teams in subleague #2. They also have All-Star games right at the midway mark of the season (I interrupt three game series if necessary to do this - weird I know, but you definitely get a 1st half and a 2nd half of the season). Every schedule has three game series for every series, no doubleheaders (hate them), and every team gets the same days off because quite frankly, it's the easiest way to get the schedule to turn out right. Teams will play other teams a varying amount of times (in multiples of three), but if you don't mind the strangeness of that and all teams playing on the same days and off on the same days, these will get you through your leagues without that silliness of ending in June or July. You set your start date to April 1st, Year X and your start day to Monday, and your season is guaranteed to end on a Sunday roughly six months later, with the All-Star game in the middle. I'll hold on to the other four, unless people really want them. They are for use from 1969 forward i.e. the divisional era and I play without divisions, so using them requires editing the league structure to having all teams in one division (i.e. 1 subleague with no divisions). Keep in mind for the ones I've uploaded that your season will start anywhere from April 1st to April 7th (if you set your start date to April 1st and your start day to Monday) and finish anywhere from September 29th to October 5th (whatever date the final Sunday of the season falls on).

Also, you'll probably have to manually import these schedules into your league via the "Edit League Schedule" tool in Game > Game Settings > League Settings > Functions page.
I've never had the game willingly select these schedules. I've had to manually import each one, so make sure you do that some time in the preseason (closer to the start of the preseason than to Opening Day). I think that's all, but fire away if you have any questions. |

I just tested the 1883 schedule that's included with the game and it works fine. The season starts on May 1 and ends on September 29.

Also, with the schedules I uploaded, be sure to put them in your schedules folder. They won't overwrite any schedules in the folder because the codes are different than the codes used by the game. Another good part of that is that they won't be overwritten when patches are added to the game, so they stick around even through the updates.
