The tester in me likes to push things to the limits. I think with 260 feet to the power alleys, you'd see a few more HRs

Yeah, those home run numbers do seem a bit off. Unless you have 95-foot-high walls or something.

Uh, you'd think. So, does the coder in you see any possibility of someone getting those ballpark factors embedded into the game .dat besides the manual entry? Not that it would take that long, but . . .

That's probably an ISP issue, it appears that some ISPs are blocking that domain.

Also, a bump to announce a few changes to the Park Generator:
  • A "Flip Park" feature has been added, which creates a mirror image of the park.
  • Optional distance markers have been added, so the images can now show the wall distances.
  • The download also generates 800x600 day and night pictures as well as a webcast image.
  • The download also generates an XML file of park information, although I'm not doing anything with it yet.
  • The biggest one is that I have migrated to an entirely new method of generating the park image which is more flexible, so there are no hoops for Internet Explorer users to jump through to download parks.

Using the default dimensions, which are symetrical, produce a big difference in lefty/righty homerun rates. Why is that?

There was a typo in the script that does the calculations - the variables for "carry center" and "carry right" values were always being figured as if they were zero.

Should be fixed now.

That should be the field for the Akron Rubber Ducks.

A couple of new features have been added:

1) You can now upload multiple images that will overlay on the field. Each one can be moved/scaled/rotated independently, and each image has an independent opacity control!

2) Custom mow patterns! You can now upload any png file and use it as a mow pattern. Like the overlay images, the opacity of the mow pattern can be set to your liking. Unlike overlay images, they are fixed in place due to the way they are handled. With that in mind, images that are 600x600 pixels will work best, but I've added a simple Photoshop/GIMP template to the site to help you if you want to make your own.

So this means you can make a park like this with just a few clicks:

Have fun!

OOTP community hits it out of the park again (see what I did there, anyone...never mind)

Thank you.

It appears that weather is a huge factor in calculating the park factors.

Also the average weather is weighted to the summer months. One probably needs to make adjustments (or swap months) if using this for winter league or Southern Hemisphere league

I'm editing ootp's weather.txt file for my game. Relying on various weather databases (weatherspark, weather-and-climate, holiday-weather) to represent the missing countries. So each country will have at least one city to choose from. Is this something you'd want for the app?

It's basically a web-based version of Gambo's spreadsheet crossed with C.L. Moffat's Ballpark Creator - simply enter in your park dimensions, wall heights, etc., and it will calculate park factors for use in OOTP as well as generate a picture of the ballpark that you can download and use in-game!

For best results, I suggest you use a recent version of either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome - compatibility with other/older/mobile browsers is going to be spotty.

Hopefully this will come in handy for the community - I sure had fun making it!

That is correct. It's something I plan on looking into at some point.
