Here are my schedules for:

1) 1993-1997
2) 1998 forward

I intend to expand to 32 teams at some point (if I ever get there), by adding two teams to the AL (Montreal and Portland maybe?) to make it 16 in each league, with the top four going to the postseason. I haven't got a schedule made up for that yet, but it shouldn't take too long. One other thing I'll never do is have an odd number of teams in the AL or the NL, because that would mean interleague, which is illegal in my baseball world.

Here is my Stats & AI page (in two parts so you can see all the modifiers). Also, my Team Batting, Pitching, and Fielding Stats through 79 games for each team.

Thank you for the detailed response! Does that mean that I can expect the same kind of HR numbers until 1961?

That means that any players that play in the first 60 years are going to not be able to compete for the HR title?

No it doesn't mean that. Not if you set up your Stats & AI the day before Opening Day, and select "1992" or whatever year you want your stats to emulate in the "Totals from year" box. Do this every year, and you should be good as gold, unless there's something else that I'm missing. Day before Opening Day...Every year...Works like a charm. Also, you can select a year to have your strategy settings emulate. I use 1992 for stats modifiers and 1984 for strategy settings every year, and allow financials to progress as they did starting in 1901. Uncheck every "Automatically Adjust" box you can find, and it should hold you there as long as you do the Opening Day thing. Cheers.

Just to show you what I'm talking about when I say uncheck every "Auto Adjust" (and "Auto Import") box, here are my Players settings, Historical settings, and Stats & AI settings pages with arrows pointing to the boxes to keep unchecked. Also keep the "Lock league total stats" box unchecked, as it really doesn't do what it's supposed to. Please excuse the amateurish (read: a 3-year old probably could've done a better job) arrows pointing to the boxes in question.

Sorry. What I should say is that you can expect similar kinds of HR totals in every year you use this technique. That does not mean players that play in the first sixty years are not going to be able to compete for the HR title because the league wide HR totals will be similar every year on a HR/AB basis, and will be distributed to the various players based on their power ratings.

Yep, makes sense. What I noticed that kept happening is despite having everything unchecked, OOTP defaults the number of games after every season to 140. So I was seeing numbers dropping off tremendously (fast sim to end of year) and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.

Ah yes. Forgot to mention that too. That happens every year. I forgot because I'm always right on it on the first day of the offseason, so I'm kind of on auto-pilot with that.

I also neutralize the weather and all the ballparks in my world - a bit control freakish I know, but somebody (I think it was Garlon) told me to do that many moons ago.

I also manually import financial settings for the following season on this day so that the free agent contracts will be set up properly (a player signed in the 1907-1908 offseason will play his first season with his new team in 1908 so the first day of the offseason [first day after the postseason] is the time to do this).

There are four things on the options page that I have to change every year. Can't figure out all of them right now, but I'll know them when I see them once the first day of the offseason comes. Obviously one is the number of games on the schedule. One other one is that I customize my playoffs in order to get LCS and WS in seasons when there was only a WS in real life. There's something with the All-Star game too. I think it's roster size, which I like to keep at 28 during the early years, but the game resets it to something else. Possibly the Allow Rainouts function switches on, and I like to keep it off. Like I said, I'll know more once I reach the end of this season, which could take me a while.

I'll probably be a bit in and out. Life is quite crappy right now. Lots of stuff going wrong all at the same time has me just about at my breaking point. Not sure how much time I can spend here for the next while.

I started a Historical League in 1939 as GM of the Senators trying to disprove First in War, First in Peace, ..... Full minors, players miss seasons according to history but don’t retire according to history. Draft after 1939 is from the draft pool but players don’t automatically go to their historical team. Original thought was see how I could do before the move to Minnesota but then I had a new idea “What if the colour barrier dropped right after Pearl Harbour?” This would improve the game during WWII. I am currently in August ‘41 trying to decide if the Negro Leagues are going to fold after this season, in ‘42 or in ‘43. Everything, salaries, LTMs, is set to follow by year (ie ‘41=‘41). Takes me about 3 hours to play one week with my OCD on nicknames but also looking up guys in baseball reference. Fun but slow going....My weirdness continues.

BTW the HRD is still going in 1933 but the latest idea (lunacy) started because the Senators have been just as awful in my HRD as in real life. Go to it when I need time off from the new idea.

That hurts. That's a crazy good season. However, believe it or not, it's not that far off his RL 1985 season when he went 24-4, 1.53 ERA, and won the CYA, while finishing fourth in the MVP voting (when he really should've finished first - I mean for criminy's sake - what more do you want BBWAA members? - Oh yeah, I forgot, MVP has to come from a playoff team )

A sac fly for Ian Happ got the NL on the board in the top of the 1st, but the AL was able to respond in the bottom half on an RBI groundout to short from Brian Jordan to level things at 1-1. The top of the third saw the NL break out (against Toad Ramsey no less) with an RBI double by Devon Travis (Woot! Woot!), and a two-run shot for Trevor Story to give them a 4-1 lead. Chuck Hinton hit a sac fly in the top of the 7th to make it 5-1. Johnny Damon would hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the 7th, but that was as close as the AL would get.

I'm quite sure the NL manager was blasted by the Phillies for allowing Kirk Presley (who never made it above A+ ball IRL - thank you Spritze for your database) to throw 65 pitches in relief over 3.2 innings. The Washington Senators could not be blamed if they tore a strip off the AL manager for allowing Duane Ward (Woot! Woot!) to throw 32 pitches in the final 2 innings of the game. Geez guys...It's an All-Star game FFS. Dave Stieb (Woot! Woot!) also pitched a scoreless inning with 2 K. Devon Travis was named player of the game despite having the "3rd best performance of the day" (whatever!). Pretty pictures below...

1907 season is complete. Postseason stuff to come. Also, final standings (in two parts as usual), final batting stats (Top 30 in MLB as ranked by Batting Runs), and final pitching stats (Top 30 in MLB as ranked by WAR) are below:

John Tudor also had a great year in 85. McGee did have a good year and the writers slant toward hitters I mean Guidry could have won the MVP in 78 but when you look at the monster season Rice had it's hard to argue although I did being Yankee fan (Guidry is the reason the clapping started when a pitcher has 2 strikes on a batter)

Just read through the past posts and I have to say one of the things I love about HRD is getting attached to a player you didn't even know. For me its Cupid Childs, love that guy. Otherwise hope all is well with you AJ
