1988 Score Baseball Card Template

I'm now officially done with this. Hopefully there aren't any bugs. You can download it here.

Regular cards:

A couple of notes:
1. The text on the backs doesn't match the colors used on the cards. Each card front color had a different combo of colors for text on the back, which isn't yet supportable.
2. You can also generate rookie prospect cards, but I haven't found a way to remove the white border line for them without manually changing the xml file. Here's what they look like (with the year removed):

Here's the All-Star card:

Here's the HOF card:

Ahh, Score, they made the most dull cards ever (I believe 1993 was bad), but I absolutely love the way these look in OOTP!

when making a card how do you make the rookies? all stars and HOF cards? Figure I'm missing something easy, but haven't figured it out yet

The rookies in this set just look at whether or not the player has played any games prior to the current season.

The all-star and hof cards get generated automatically by the game when a player is chosen for either honor.

The cards look great. Thanks for the mod.

any quick way for me to go about making it if they had under a certain number of games or at bats the previous year? or will that not work within the xml file?

That's a fantastic set. Can we have PadresFan's site host it?

I liked Score in general. I stopped collecting around 1992, but from what I collected from 88-92, 1988 Score was certainly the best design. 1989 was just horrible, with off-pastel pinks and greens. 1990 was, at best, a decent design. Same with 1991, but it had some of those bizarre color choices (teal and lavender, is this a Bath & Body Works set?). 1992 was an ugly design. 1993 was an ugly design. 1994 doesn't look bad (I like black borders despite their tendency to ding easily), but I was gone by then.

Probably the best thing about Score was the paragraphs of text on the back of the card. Really great writing. Where else would you find out that Tigers utility infielder Jim Walewander was a fan of the punk group "The Dead Milkmen", invited them to a game at Tigers Stadium and hit his first (and only) career home run on that day? To me, it's stories like this that can make the history of baseball come alive past the stats, and Score had that in spades.

Right now, we can't really do conditionals. The way we have been doing it is via really inventive logical tricks. I have to say that fhomess came up with a rather brilliant method here, which you can see if you open up the default XML.

How would you change it so the front color matched the uniform color?

Pujols doesn't like the purple/pinkish color his card generates.

I would like it better if David Wright's card above was dark blue on the front and where it says, "Mets" on the back, the same color.

Thanks!

yeah, wasn't sure what kind of conditionals could be used. In my online league it seems most prospect types get playing time the year before they hit it big, so it doesn't make them the prospect cards. And they have to be on the big league roster to get the prospect tag too.

But it'll work, i'll just wait till right before opening day and make cards for any players who didn't play last year but made the opening day rosters. and in the future I can make then when guys get called up if need be.

Again, great work by everyone who's doing these. Brings back some old times with the different color score cards

Thumbs up

After looking at the results they've generated for my fictional league, I'm ready to declare that this is the best looking card template I've seen yet. Thanks for the good work.

Yep. And you got 15 cards for your fifty cents. I collected Score cards by the ton

While I'll always love Topps and Upper Deck the most, the Score and Fleer cards from the 80s really take me back...

Awesome work here.
