I spent a fair amount of time on this, but could not come up with a photo. I think this is Lefty Bob Ferguson, who hails from Rock Island, IL. He was a semi-pro pitcher with a team called the Enright Coalers of Rock Island when he signed with the NY Giants in July of 1938. They sent him to Cedar Rapids of the Three Eye League, though Baseball-reference.com doesn't show it. There were many hits on his name during his 1940 season with Allentown, and supposedly he was going to the Boston Bees at the end of it. I lost his trail after that. Tried to find his Sporting News contract card, but there doesn't seem to be one. There are several other Robert Fergusons in that file, but not one who was with Superior and Allentown.

Roger Armstrong appears here in the uniform of the 1960 Montgomery Rebels. The photo comes from the Alabama Journal of April 26, 1960.

Harry Oliver

Here is a 6'4 hurler who spent 10 seasons in the Phillies organization. He pitched well enough 59 wins and an 3.81 ERA with an 11-6 effort in AAA in 1964 but never a drop in that hoped for cup of coffee. Unusual in looking in his numbers that Harry was predominately a relief pitcher during his minor league career when relievers would routinely surpass 100 innings, Considering the infamous collapse of Gene Mauch's '64 Phillies , perhaps he could have gleaned a surprisingly effective spot start out of Harry Oliver amid the swoon. Mauch kept sending his diminishing staff and spent starters out on 2 days rest and not once did it work. It didn't help that Phillies management had previously traded lefty Curt Simmons to the eventual World Champion Cardinals. But that's another thread altogether I.E, Steve Carlton ...

Baseball-reference.com only touches the surface of his stats in the Mexican League. According to the Encyclopedia of Mexican Baseball, he played 14 seasons in the Mexican League, had a batting average of .286, and accumulated over 1500 hits. In 1961, he hit .332 for the Mexico City Red Devils (Diablos Rojos).

No luck. Grimsley was in the Reds' system for less than 3 weeks in 1955. He joined Nashville via a sale to the Reds by Charleston on July 20 and was sold to Omaha in the Cardinals' system on August 5. Though Grimsley's name appeared several times in the Nashville newspapers, his photo didn't.

Biancamano is shown here in his Fairleigh-Dickenson University uniform. The photo is from the Jersey Journal (Jersey City, NJ) of Oct. 21, 1960. He was an outfielder.
