Players getting better at Roles?

How do you get players to get batter at roles you pick for them?
If I have D with a very good shooting range and accuracy, and I make them a point shooter for the entire season. they never seem to get better at that role. Anyone got an idea?

I'm not positive but it seems to be based on stats. if you have a point shooter i'd imagine it takes more into consideration then just shot accuracy+shot str. seems like as the player grows stat wise, the more roles he's able to excel at.

Yeah, it's ratings-based. As the ratings improve (or decline), the player's suitability for the role will change - so if you wanted to improve someone at a specific role, it would make sense to give them extra training attention to areas that are likely to be useful for the role.

Will giving them playing time in that specific role have any effect on their development in the skills needed for that role?
