Frogs got themselves a new cloaca ripped by the Gashouse Gorillas. Went down very weakly in a sweep. Two close games and then two blowouts, showing me that my team "gave up."

Oh well. Onto 2067.

Good luck to those still simming!

I'm sorry to hear about your pain, but glad to see you make a post. I hope you feel better soon.

A night of firsts it seems...after 16 times of failure, OL alumni Blitzkrieg Boppers finally grab their first PL title, and complete the set of titles!

Snuffy Stirnweiss is your playoff MVP, hitting .600 in the series!

Well, as they often do, the Hissing Cockroaches got into everything and took over, knocking out Seattle in 6 and then shockingly sweeping Spokane in the Perfect League Series. So that's 7 PL titles in the last 10 season for Madagascar...wow.

Despite its playoff flameout, Huntley was well represented in the P430 season awards. In addition to RF Christian Yelich's expected Platinum Stick award, 2B Luke Appling also took home that hardware, in what might have been his final Red Raiders season (what?...more on that in a moment). Also as expected, pitching Triple Crown winner Rube Waddell won the AC Pitcher of the Year award in unanimous fashion. Finally, also as expected, but in a much closer vote than anticipated, RF Christian Yelich took home the AC Most Valuable Player award, with 8 first-place votes and 301 total points, barely topping Never Bunt Hit Dingers' Bill Terry (7 first-place votes, 293 total points), and the aforementioned Rube Waddell (15 first place votes but somehow only 292 total points).

Congrats to all 2066 winners, and good luck to everyone in 2067...which will see the Huntley Red Raiders debut of SE Mike Schmidt and the return of old favorite Arky Vaughan!

Well, blew some good chances at a title.

White Tigers in P459 won their division and got the 2 seed at 106-56. Swept the 3 seed, then against Acton (who we had taken 5 of 7 against in the regular season) we went down 3-0. We managed to force a game 7, which we lost by 1 run. Bob Feller had the most pitching wins, going 20-9, but only finished 7th in the Cy Young. On the other hand, Gossage, my 8th inning setup guy, was a near-unanimous Reliever of the Year with 28 first place votes, while my closer (Eck) finished third.

Black Panthers in D361 went 94-68 and got the top wild card spot, beat the 1 seed in 5 games then the 2 seed in 6 games, but lost 4-1 in the finals to the other conference's top wild card who swept both their conference opponents. Whitey Ford had the best ERA and most wins but came in second in the Cy Young; Anthony Rendon came in second in the MVP (Ernie Banks came in 5th and had the most home runs).

Golden Lions in G314 won their division at 89-73, swept the 2 seed, then got swept by the top wild card. Nobody won anything (even a glove or bat), though Hugh Duffy finished third in the MVP (but the winner was also a CF).

best of luck! arky's now spent 8 years as my leadoff batter vs righties and has reliably posted 5+ WARs platooning. his ratings are nice, but his performance has been absolutely otherworldly. he's on my lineup card in sharpie at this point.

how'd kershaw end up performing for you?

perfect .480

that was quite the series.

game 1: 49ers (young) @ zags (hoyt) - 4-3 49ers (scored winning run in top of 9th) [0-1]
game 2: 49ers (johnson) @ zags (waddell) - 6-4 49ers (14 innings) [0-2]
game 3: zags (keefe) @ 49ers (maddux) - 7-1 49ers [0-3] (headline: "49ers running away with WS after 7-1 victory")
game 4: zags (schilling) @ 49ers (walsh) - 5-0 zags (schilling cg no hitter. i think it's my 2nd no-no in PT ever) [1-3]
game 5: zags (hoyt) @ 49ers (young) - 8-0 zags (arky vaughn 2 HRs) [2-3]
game 6: 49ers (johnson) @ zags (waddell) - 4-3 zags (49ers' pedro took BS and L after zags scored 2 in bottom 7th) [3-3]
game 7: 49ers (maddux) @ zags (keefe) - 4-1 zags (zags entered top of the 9th leading 1-0; 49ers' jackie hit a run-scoring double to tie it off kershaw; campanella -- who replaced cochrane as a defensive sub in the top of the 9th -- hits series-winning 3-run HR off coveleski in the bottom of the 9th; go dodgers / go zags) [4-3].

so, yeah, another fun one. also, the ozzie move paid off -- he was 8-14 in the 4 wins and slashed .423./464/.538 for the series.

The YakAnglers ran off 116 wins and easily won their division, around 30 games ahead of the 2nd place team, and were around 28 games ahead of the 2nd best team in the conference. There obviously were no whales, but several very solid teams throughout the conference. The YakAnglers lost one game on their way to the Perfect Series.

On the other side, it was loaded. The Ann Arbor Space Cadets and Wilmington ?Rocks were in the same division and battled it out with the Blue Rocks taking it quite easily with 134 wins (IIRC). The Blue Rocks advanced unscathed to the Perfect Series to face the YakAnglers.

Surprisingly, the YakAnglers led the head-to-head matchup 3 games to 1 during the season, but knew it would take an extreme amount of luck to take out the Blue Rocks.

The Blue Rocks have just about every card you dream of. HOF Jeter, HOF Walker, HOF Simmons, TotD Trout, TotD Betts, just to name a few that I remember. Their pitching is just as good.

The YakAnglers were trounced in game 1, but took game 2 to give us a little hope. Game 3 went scoreless until the 10th, when the Blue Rocks put 2 on the board to take the game. Game 4 was a back-and-forth affair, but again the BLue Rocks found a way to squeeze out a win. Game 5 was all Rocks to take the Perfect Series and their 15th Championship.

I think it's our 5th or 6th time in the Perfect Series, but we just can't get a break, especially against far superior teams. Just glad we didn't blow another 3-1 lead! That one still hurts.

Decently: 18-8, 3.38 ERA, 118 ERA+, 3.40 FIP, 4.3 WAR. He's off to a similar start this season, only 1-2 and a 3.46 ERA but a 121 ERA+ and 2.68 FIP.
