Does hiring extra Assistant coaches help?

If I hire multiple Assistant coaches will that help to improve my players more or is just the one coach used to improve and train the players in that particular area?

In addition, how do my coaching ratings figure into the equation?

More info on this: I am controlling the Devils, they had Rissmiller as Offensive Coach. I hired Wendel Clark and set him as the new Offensive Coach. I am wondering if I keep Rissmiller will it help to improve my players or is he redundant now that he is no longer the Offensive coach. Is there a cumulative advantage or am I wasting $$? Wondering if I should fire him or hire even more assistant coaches.

Extra assistants will help to an extent. In most cases, the two top-rated assistants in a given area and the head coach will contribute to that type of development. Depending on the player being checked, though, the coach's ability to coach a specific position and/or work with young players may affect his contribution. And in most cases, assistants will be good at more than one thing, so it'd be redundant (and expensive) to have, say, a ten-man coaching staff. In the example above, Rissmiller is probably still contributing to offensive development, and he's also good with physical skills as well, so he's probably helping there, too.
