Historical mode - Seals - questions
This is actually my first time playing any of the Franchise Hockey Manager games. I chose historical mode for the Golden Seals starting in 1971.
1. Is there any way to avoid the impending folding of the franchise? Even if I win the Cup and do well financially, will the team still cease to exist? 2. I find that I'm doing a LOT of jersey number management, and I'm often getting a player's number being conflicted with himself. Seems like a bug? I got a screenshot of it. https://i.imgur.com/xTOw0ca.png 3. There was seemingly no mention of an all-star game. 4. I've drafted Jaroslav Pouzar from the Czech Republic. How long will he be stuck behind the Iron Curtain? In reality he didn't come over until '82. Thanks. Super fun game. |

No way to avoid the impending doom right now. As we add more customization to historical play in future versions, that'll probably happen.
For the jersey situation, did you happen to set the jersey manually (via right-clicking the player) before getting that screen? If not, that may be a bug, and we'd like to have a look at the save if you run into it again (i.e., the save would need to have that message currently active.) There's no all-star game in historical right now. It's something we'd like to get in relatively soon, but it'll require adding a bunch of different all-star formats to do properly (e.g. conference/division-based teams won't work in the 6-team years.) Pouzar should be available in 82, the defectors (and other guys who moved over prior to 89) should be available in their actual rookie seasons. |

Yeah I played the Seals franchise through. Won the 3 peat in the last 3 years as I didn't trade my picks away. Then 4 peated in Cleveland. When Cleveland's done you don't merge with Minny. All the players become free agents. I did sign most of them. I do intend to go back to this game at some point and then take over the Sharks when their created.
In future games would love the option to have control over relocation, expansion and folding so the Seals could play right through to the modern era. |

Thanks for the info. One thing I've noticed about these "behind the iron curtain" players, for example when Fetisov and Makarov come along, at the draft all the other teams will avoid them like the plague. But then I can dangle them in trades and those same teams will be drooling over them.
I think the trade AI doesn't take into account that the European players won't be available for a very long time. Quote:

I'll see if we can lower their trade value without breaking anything, it may be a little complicated to do without causing issues with the valuation of the Soviet bloc players who did come over early.
